Vegas Western Cab Company

Used this taxi service on 12−11−15 around 9PM from McCarran airport to my house. The driver was courteous and helped us with our bags. He patiently waited for us while we struggled with installing my boy’s car seat.
He drove safely, unlike most of the cabs I see here who drive like they have just disturbed a nest of Africanized honey bees under their seat.
The mini van was clean and spacious and handicap accessible. He took us the shortest route possible and even helped us unload our bags. He was friendly but not overly chatty. I couldn’t ask for more out of a cab company.
Kinda shocked to see all these bad reviews because we had such a good experience with them. I wish I had caught the name of our driver. I think it was 6447? He was tall and thin and had ear-​length blonde hair. Anyways, thanks for the ride!

I was really surprised to see that this cab company has an overall rating of only 1 star. While I used the Las Vegas Monorail almost exclusively during my time in Vegas, I used Vegas Western Cab Company to get to and from the airport from the SLS hotel and also used this taxi company once during my stay to get to a meeting that was off the strip. In all 3 cases the taxi drivers were friendly, personable and talkative but not to the point of being annoying, taxis were clean and all taxis accepted credit cards, with a credit card reader mounted on the back of the passenger seat. In one case I’d forgotten something in my hotel room and we needed to return and I asked the driver to wait for me. No problem — he dropped me off, told me exactly where he was going to park and a few moments later once I returned with the stuff I needed to get from the room, he was there waiting for me as promised.
The only minor annoyance is that there’s a screen mounted to the back of the passenger seat welcoming you to Vegas and then showing an endless, annoying and overly energetic loop of advertisements for various Las Vegas shows, restaurants and attractions, but passengers do have the option of muting those, thank the lord!

Cab #6429 driver name is «Art Radar» is the worst cab driver. I asked him a simple question based on direction we were heading in and he left us on the road because we questioned his direction. That’s such a bad impression of his company. He also started our meter at about $ 4.50 based fair. This cab driver seems to be very dishonest and I hope he is caught one day. Trying to take advantage of tourist and because of feeling guilty he treated us this way leaving us about 3 miles away from our destination.

DO NOT USE THIS CAB COMPANY! We called them for a ride and they told us they would be here in 30−45min. An hour later we called and the person who answered basically told us to F off and they don’t have a cab for us! Really?!?

I’ve taken a fair amount of cabs in Vegas and in LA and never had a big issue. Sure, they’re not the nicest people sometimes, but as long as I get to where I need to go, I don’t really care. This experience with Vegas Western Cab was disappointing.
When we got in the cab at Paris Hotel, we told him that we needed to be taken to our Air B’N’B that was 10 minutes away from The Strip. He didn’t know where it was so I had to pull out my GPS to help him get there. While crossing over the highway on Flamingo, he started driving very very slowly and I asked him why. He told us that he was considering dropping us off at Rio because he «wasn’t allowed to go into the Charleston area». We told him the address, told him the cross streets, told him it was literally a mile down the road from where we were, but that we were not locals so we didn’t know if was in the «Charleston area». We talked him out of dropping us off at Rio (which in hindsight, we probably should have and hailed a safer cab) and then he started threatening us, saying that if we got even close to Charleston, he’d drop us off on the side of the road. 4 girls. Just abandon them on the side of the road at 2am. My friend started writing down his cab number and he noticed, and he said «Go ahead! Call my supervisor! They’ll tell you I’m not allowed to go to Charleston!»… if your not allowed to go to Charleston, how come you don’t know where Charleston IS?
Also, the entire time this was happening, he was talking on the phone with someone else. It was a headpiece, but still.
He did end up taking us to our house and when we got out, he got out of the car and started yelling at us about slamming his car door. To be fair, my friend was very upset about being threatened, so she did exit the cab a little rudely, but I don’t know if that justifies screaming at us all the way to our doorstep.
What a way to kill, what so far, had been the perfect vegas trip.
The reason I give them 2 STARS is because I just got off the phone with a supervisor and she was awesome. I called just to ask if it was true if some cab drivers were not allowed to drive into residential areas, because if that WERE true, then he should have been up front about it when we got into the cab and told him where we needed to go. She was very reasonable, told me that there was no way that was the case, apologized for his rudeness, and said she’d talk to his direct supervisor.

this was a ride from hell, car rattled the whole 8 miles… there were check engine lights on the dash. i asked for air conditioning and barely got. i felt so sick by the time i reached hotel… i had cash to tip him just the same and put the actual fare on card… then he starts screaming at me for not tipping him, i then pocketed the cash in my hand and said well I’m certainly not tipping now thats just beyond rude. man did we throw some serious eye daggers at one another.

This morning we had a driver take us from the Stratosphere to Aria and the driver was very aggressive and incredibly rude to the staff when we got to Aria. He also took a route that others commented was more expensive than it should have been even though it was a time of day with no traffic. Hopefully we don’t encounter this company again!

Got a Vegas Western Cab (#6430) just now. Heading from the Golden Nugget on Fremont Street to Maggiano’s for dinner. Come to Vegas alot so I know my way around. The drive pulled out going the wrong way. I brought it to his attention. He said it was easier to take the freeway there, «No stoplights.» He the takes the left on a green light w traffic coming at us, people in crosswalk. Thought I was gonna die! He was yelling because people had the right of way? We then made it to the freeway… in rush hour. Valet at hotel estimated about $ 17.00. Because of the route it was $ 25.00 + $ 3.00 fee. Feels like I’m in the casino!

Took a longer/​more expensive route to save 2 minutes and then took 8 minutes to get change from other cab drivers.

Of the thousands of yellow cabs hailed in NYC and other locations, this was the single most offensive cab ride I’ve ever had. There was a line-​up at McCarren after I landed and I was directed towards a cab. The man took my bag and I hopped inside. Told him I was going to the HRH. His reaction… «F U! I waited for 20 min and you go the the f’n HARD ROCK. THE HARD ROCK. Why do you go there? This is bullsh*t.»
Me: Are you talking to me?
Driver: **huge belch** f*ck you…
He dropped me off and was shocked I didn’t tip him.
Me: You should be nicer to people when they come into town.
Driver: F*ck you
I took the $ 5 tip I was going to give to him and immediately threw it into a video blackjack machine. It turned into $ 20 after two hands. #Win
Skip this company if you can. The other reviews don’t lie.

Oh it’s not that bad. Our driver Art, picked us up at a taxi stand at Planet Hollywood and thanked us for taking him to a destination off of the strip (the CES convention had just ended and everyone was on their way out of Vegas – luckily, we were just on our way in). Art is what I would describe as a middle-​aged, modern day Cheech and/​or Chong. He was so friendly and entertained us with stories from his life in 80’s living in San Francisco for our ride to the rental car company.
Is it expensive? A bit. Did our van sound like it was going to shake itself into tiny little van pieces when we got onto the highway? Yes.
Who cares? In the end, we safely got to where it is we were going and had a very memorable experience with an awesome guy.
Can’t say how they are when calling into a dispatcher. Also, if out driver wasn’t so awesome, I would probably drop it down to 2 stars for the quality of their vehicles.

Don’t get in these cabs if you value your life. The most wreckless drivers in Vegas. I have been cut off multiple times everyday by these guys. They just want to make a quick dollar. I don’t think they care about the laws or any one. The one time I was in their cab, I was afraid for my life. The drive was very rude.

Seven Unilocalers in a row can’t be wrong! We all agree on one thing… Western cab sucks! The cabbie I had a run-​in with tonight was apparently just another in their collection of rude ones. Calling dispatch and seeing the way they handle (or don’t handle) a road rage issue shows that behind the lousy drivers is management that is equally as bad. Like the reviewer before me said, there are many cab companies; if you get this company, just pass it up for the next one. Apparently the drivers with the road rage issues end up here, since management is tolerant of it.

Vegas cab drivers know a sucker when they see one. They see them all day, everyday, on the strip. They’re called tourists. Only suckers, people who don’t care about money, and those too afraid to rent a car and drive in Vegas use cabs. I happen to fall into the last category and so I have no choice but to succumb to highway robbery.
If you must use cabs to get around Vegas, it’s best that you know the shortest route before you get in that cab. More than once I’ve had a cabbie take me onto the freeway to get from point A to point B when it was really, really clear that it was only a rouse to rack up my rate.
The ride from MacCarran to Fremont was $ 50 with tip and the credit card fee!
It’s also important to note that if a cab driver doesn’t consider your destination to be worth while (money wise), he’ll pretend he doesn’t know what place you’re talking about. I had two cab drivers in a row from this company do this. The third agreed to take me where I was going and then fessed up that is what the others were doing (as if I didn’t already know). Funny thing was, we were going from Fremont to a location right behind Fashion Show Mall. $ 22 before tip AND you’re right on the strip to pick up new riders and that’s not good enough? Ugh.

This company blows. They charge a $ 3.00 credit card fee. I called the cab company and a supervisor said the fee wasn’t any more than what the casinos charge for ATM service. What a ridiculous line. I said I was paying for a service, not getting cash. Won’t use and if I do I will pay the fee and skip the tip. Driver was rude as well. Air conditioning did not work. Deserves a worse rating. Skip it if you can.

I called to be picked up, about 10 minutes off the strip. I was told it would take 20 minutes. When I called 20 minutes later, I was told it would be 20 more minutes. The cab arrived 25 minutes later. When I called the dispatcher to tell them that I was not happy (at the 40 minute mark, shortly before my cab finally arrived), he told me he could cancel my cab, or I can wait.
The driver was competent and friendly. (As was the original driver who took me out to meet my friend, who gave me the card I used to call for the cab to pick me up.)
tl;dr: Took them 45 minutes to pick me up, 10 minutes off the strip, after they told me it would be 20 minutes. Rude dispatcher. Fine if it’s the next cab in line at the hotel, but never call for a pickup.
