I’ve only dealt with Dr. Joy so far, and she is the most amazing optometrist! She makes you feel at ease and takes the time to explain the procedures and what she thinks is best for you and your eyes. She is knowledgeable as a doctor and as equally lovely as a person. I came in today in desperate need of contacts because I was going out of town and Dr. Joy and the receptionist (forgive me for not knowing your name!) were both so kind in helping me. They didn’t have any boxes of my contacts in stock but were eager to help me regardless so they gave me the sample ones in my prescription to last me the week! I love this place and will continue to be a loyal customer for many years to come! Thank you!

These guys deserve an all-​star rating! I just recently visited them and had such a delightful experience. I saw Dr. Joy. She is as her name is — joyful, sweet and so amiable! It was my first time wearing contact lenses and I was quite scared as I had never worn contact lenses before. I didn’t know how to use contacts, what solutions to use or why — there were a million questions in my mind.
Dr. Joy patiently trained me on wearing, removing and taking care of my contacts. I am so used to getting a rushed service just about anywhere that I thought it would be the same. Was trying too hard to be careful not to waste Dr. Joy’s time, but she was more than accommodating, giving me plenty of time and attention, answering my questions so that I learn well. Now I feel like am a pro at wearing contacts.
One thing I feel bad about is making Dr. Joy open the contact lens bottles which had sharp metal seals! She opened some 3 – 4 contact lenses bottles sealed with metal. Those metal seals were sharp and I didn’t realize until I returned home and tried opening one of the last two bottles myself. I feel so bad making her do that!
Dr Joy was so nice, she was almost like a friend! So impressed by her and everyone working here. Even the front desk lady was very nice. I so very highly recommend them!

I’ve always gotten great personal service at AccuVision and have been a customer for many years. I’m taken promptly for my appointments and they employee the latest technology in vision care. I now get the annual retina photograph that allows any changes to my retina due to diabetes to be easily observed without the need to dilate my eyes. Both doctors take the time to explain the exam results and answer questions. I’ve never felt rushed. They also have a pretty good selection of glasses frames.

I found this practice at a health fair at Sandia labs and made an appointment online. I found it super convenient from the labs for a quick check up. Dr. John was very knowledgeable and easy to communicate with. He made some great recommendations based on the issues I was having with my current contacts. He took the time to explain what he was doing and why. All in all a great experience.

Dr. Joy explained everything in a clear and concise manner. She is very much knowledgeable regarding my eye health and was able to make me understand what was really happening. Thanks Dr. Joy! Your staff are also great. They were able to give my glassed in the promised time period (even less). Highly recommended

My husband and I have been going to AccuVision even before Joy and John owned it. Joy is very personable and professional. I know my eyes are in good hands. Amber is excellent in suggesting flattering frames. I’m excited to get my new glasses next week. I highly recommend them to everyone!

We love and trust the doctors Michelsen! Drs Joy and Dr John are gentle and caring with our kids. Our daughter just got her first contacts. Big moment for our daughter. Staff at AccuVision are extremely patient. Love that they are local too!

Wonderful eye doctors ! They take their time with every patient and that’s important to my husband and I.

This is the only vision center able to see me the same day I called. Dr. Viyada is so nice and knowledgable. She took her time helping me and gave me information I needed.

After sitting in Livermore Optometry for 1:10 and not even being put in a room for my appt. I Unilocaled optometrists in Livermore and Accuvision had quite the run of great reviews. So I sat in their waiting room, called Accuvision and booked an appointment for the next day. When I let the receptionist know I was leaving and why I was leaving she said — «I’m sorry for the wait, what was your name?» (Really?)
I would like to thank all my fellow « Unilocalers» for getting me the help eye needed! Dr. was thorough, friendly, and took the time to explain all my options even though I just needed prescription sunglasses. I think will also get some contacts as well.
Great selection of sunglasses — there was nothing at Livermore Optometry!!! Accuvision had all brands from Vera Bradley, Gucci, Kate Spade, etc. Loved the honest opinion and help from Amanda.
Bottom line… Why wait for hours for «meh» to lousy service when you can get immediate attention and excellent service at Accuvision!!!

This place is great– I’m very happy that I switched to their office! I drive from Tracy to see Dr. Michelsen, and he’s totally worth it — very patient and thorough. I had to come back several times to get it right because my eyes kept changing (was switching from hard to soft contacts). The staff is always friendly and professional.

The staff was very professional and made the process with my insurance smooth. Dr Michelsen’s exam was the most thorough I’ve had. I would recommend.

I love this place! The doctors and staff here are so knowledgeable and super friendly! They are small enough to give me the personal attention I want, but at the same time big enough to have all the best contacts, glasses and sunglasses. They took my insurance and when it wouldn’t cover my second pair of glasses they gave me a discount! SWEET!
They’re going to be my eye doctors for a really long time! :)

After deciding it was time to get my eyes checked i started Unilocaling my local places, i found accuvision and decided i was gonna try it on based on the Unilocal reviews and that they have all the new technology. I called and the receptionist and she was very nice and was able to get me in later that day! I was a little worried since i have not had my eyes checked since i was a kid so i was a little nervous but doctor john was awesome made everything painless and explained everything so i could understand it turns out i do need glasses after all, so after i shopped around a little i realized that they had the best price in town and were even cheaper than the places i looked (even lenscrafters which i stood around for 30 minutes with no help) i went back and purchased my glasses and should be receiving them shortly. I will definitely be back. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

Joy was able to help my daughter overcome a bad experience with a different doctor, and set her mind at ease. From the exam to selecting glasses, Joy and her staff were tops.
My daughter was very pleased with selection of frames… and actually wears her glasses. Thank you Joy!

In an unusual twist of fate I did not Unilocal an optometry group but selected Accuvision because they accept my insurance AND coordinate benefits. Just before I walked in to my appointment though I did check their reviews and was very happy to see they have a good rating.
I was examined by Dr. Hur. She was very friendly and professional as she explained everything to me. It has been awhile since my last exam and so much has changed. I didn’t need to have air blown in my eye for the glaucoma test but instead some eye drops and a close up view of the eye. Don’t ask me the technical terms. For a minimal additional fee a picture was taken of each eye. Dr Hur showed me the pictures of the inside of my eyes including the veins, macula, and that damn floater that has been bothering me! That was really cool to see.
I was able to select from several nice frames including Kate Spade, Marc Jacobs, Ray Ban, Juicy Couture, Gucci, Guess, and many others to choose from.
This is a small but efficient office. The staff is cheerful and did not seem harried which I’ve encountered at one of the other optometry groups in Livermore. A bonus is the use of new less invasive methods of examining my eyes. Finally. I have a new doctor I like and who coordinates my insurance benefits. Yes, ‘Eye’ll’ be back!

I have to say that I have never enjoyed going to any type of Dr. However, working with Dr. Joy has been great. I first called the office to get an appointment for my daughter who was visiting for 1 weeks and wanted to get contacts. So I called and got her in a few days after my daughter arrived. Dr Joy was wonderful with my daughter and even squeezed my step daughter in also that same day. My daughter contacts arrived very fast and she was able to take them home with her. My stepdaughters glasses also arrived very quickly. I have since been back to get contacts for myself. Now that’s a bigger issue. Every contact I try doesn’t seem to stabilize. Dr Joy has given me trial after trial trying to find the right fit. I thought I had found them recently but it doesn’t seem to be so. The next step will be the Hybrid Contacts. But this whole way has been so easy. Dr Joy has been awesome with me and my troublesome eyes that are being stubborn with contacts. She is so patient with me. And she is always a joy to see at each visit.
I would highly recommend this office if you want that great personal touch that is warm and comforting while seeing a Dr.

As many people know, I do a LOT of research before choosing a service provider. It’s very important to me that I find a combination of value and quality, and I’m very happy to report that I’ve found it here!
My last Rx for my contacts had expired and I was way overdue for new contacts. I researched about 7 different optometrists in the area, reviewed their Unilocal reviews, and ended up calling 3 of them. Some had higher prices, some seemed more willing to answer my myriad of questions… and I ask a TON of questions!!!
At the end of the day I settled on AccuVision Optometry and worked with Dr. Joy Michelsen, and I’m VERY glad I did!
Dr. Joy was incredibly attentive to my very unique Rx and wonky astigmatism. There were a few different things I was thinking about trying. She did an amazing job of listening to my questions and ideas and helping me to explore the pros and cons of each option. Did I mention I ask a lot of questions? Well, she was super patient and helpful all the way through all my onslaught of questions, and I really appreciated that!
I’m VERY happy with my results and I feel like I also have received a good value!
