Established in 1994.

While working full time years ago at a Veterinary Hospital, I started doing evening house calls in my neighborhood in Jackson Heights, Queens. Things picked up quickly, and I soon realized this was a valuable niche for many working people and for those who would find it difficult to transport their pets. I look forward to the continued opportunity to provide quality veterinary care to your pets in the comfort of their own home environment.

Business Owner

Dr. Nebel has been practicing veterinary medicine in the New York Metropolitan area for over 25 years and has been on staff in hospitals in Westchester County, Suffolk County, Fairfield County (CT), and Queens. He has been making veterinary house calls in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn since 1994. A New York City native and graduate of Syracuse University with a B.S. in Biology, Dr. Nebel earned his D.V.M. degree in 1984 at the University of Parma in Parma, Italy, and subsequently studied medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan. He is certified by the New York State Veterinary Board and the Connecticut State Veterinary Board and is a member of the American Veterinary Medicine Association.

Dr. Nebel lives in Manhattan with his wife, Sara, son, Sam, and their rescue dog and cat, Mugsy and Pearl.

Dr. Nebel is a skilled and seasoned professional. Warm personality. Responds quickly to emails. I am grateful to have found him when we moved to the city. Our cat gets very stressed around other animals and had previously been labeled a «caution cat» at other offices. Glad we don’t have to put him through that anymore!

Dr. Matt is a godsend for the over-​scheduled. He’s gentle, patient, and thorough, and he caught a problem with my two cats I didn’t even know existed. He schlepped up to the Bronx to take them in for treatment — twice. The result? April & Nino are looking great again and acting like two young kitties, chasing each other all over the house. I recommend Dr. Nebel highly, without reservation.

I’ve decided to write a follow up as Dr. Nebel recently reached out via email. This actually came as a surprise to me. On rare occasions, business owners have sent me an email, usually in a very snarky tone, asking me to remove a bad review. Dr. Nebel’s email was far from that. It was professional, sincere, and apologetic. He acknowledged the issues mentioned in my review below and even offered to reimburse us for the extra expenses. Although I don’t plan on taking him up on his offer, I do want to give Dr. Nebel credit for being receptive to feedback.

Imagine if someone 10 times your size picked you up, put you in a carrier, took you outside where it was noisy and loud, on a train and to some place where you had no idea where you were, then you got poked, prodded and got shots – all against your will. Would you be happy? Probably not.
Well, that’s what I think it feels like to be a cat, visiting a vet’s office in NYC.
My cat decided that the cat carrier wasn’t for her, luckily, my friend suggested a vet who makes house calls. Who knew such a thing existed! Problem solved!
Dr. Nebel is nice and personable and did a thorough exam of my cat all within the comfort of my home. He didn’t even mind the mild growling and hissing (from my cat, not me). I highly recommend him. He will make house calls in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. Ask yourself: why make a cat (or dog) unnecessarily anxious and upset? Have the vet come to you instead.
Oh, and she got a clean bill of health. Hooray!

Dr. Nebel was able to accommodate a same-​day exam and was punctual. He gave our cat a thorough exam — despite the cat’s vocal and sometimes violent protests. Dr. Nebel handled our cat with care and gave us a clear diagnosis and plan of action. He supported our decision and was sympathetic and understanding. He made a tough time a little easier, and we’re grateful for his care and attention. Would definitely recommend. Thanks again, Dr. Nebel.

Our two indoor cats were very happy to become acquainted with Dr. Nebel. Their human companions were especially pleased to find a competent and caring vet who could come to the cats, rather than having to juggle them through the hassles and stresses of transportation in NYC.
Dr. Nebel is a gentleman, has skill and experience, communicates clearly, and obviously loves animals. What more could you want in a veterinarian?
