I can’t say enough good things about the entire process with Smooth Move. Mike was in regular communication leading up to the move and made everything very clear. The two guys (Alex and Victor?) who came out were right on time, exceedingly courteous, efficient, and very friendly. They went above and beyond, helping me set up furniture and making sure everything was positioned exactly how I wanted it. Having such a smooth (no pun intended) moving process was such a relief, and I will absolutely be calling them for my next move.

Mike and his team have done two moves for me. Mike sent me a list of questions both times and got back to me quickly. The moves were done in record time, the movers were organized and efficient and not one thing was damaged. I had Alex and his crew both times and cannot say enough great things about their service. The pricing is very reasonable, especially for the level of professionalism! I would not use any other mover in NY. I have moved many times over the years have never had such «Smooth,» efficient, fast and organized moves. Do not hesitate to call Mike for your moving needs!

Listen y’all…Do yourself a favor and get these guys… Please…Pleeeaaasssseeeeee don’t go to the contender. Please do not second guess it. Please do not be cheap… These guys get the job done and the do it right… They are professional, friendly, funny and most importantly, they do moving right. This team is more than awesome! From start to finish they worked really hard to make sure this move was as easy and painless as possible! They were prompt and even waited until parking became available and were sympathetic about the situation. They really did everything they could to accommodate to my needs especially for moving to NYC for the first time! Don’t waste your time reading any other reviews because these guys rock!

I got a helpful confirmation beforehand, then on game day the guys were on time, knew exactly what they were doing, and moved everything out of the apartment (top floor of a walk-​up) within the two hours. I definitely recommend them!!!

I hired Smooth Move through UHaul for an unload only at my new apartment in Brooklyn. Prior to the move Mike, the moving coordinator, sent me a text letting me know I should check my email for a list of questions and get back to him as soon as possible. After answering all questions Mike worked with me to determine what size truck I should reserve as well as the amount of movers that I needed for the move. Good thing I spoke with him because I had placed a Cargo Van on hold, but it would have been WAY too small! Up until the day of the move Mike was excellent in responding right away and easing my concerns.
Once our UHaul was packed I sent pictures of the inside to Mike and he confirmed our appointment for the next day that evening as well as 12pm the day of the move.
My building had a very strict elevator policy and I would only have 2 hours to move all of the UHaul’s contents into my apartment so when my 2pm elevator reservation came and the men were still not there I started to get a little nervous. The men arrived at 2:20pm due to subway issues. I was visibly stressed because now we had less time to move in and I wasn’t sure if even 2 hours would be sufficient. One of the movers could see I was super stressed and eased my mind mentioning that he is positive I will be moved in in under 2 hours.
The 2 men moved all of the UHaul’s contents into the service entrance in I think 20 minutes. My cousin went downstairs to reload the meter for her car and told me the UHaul was completely empty and they should be up any minute. I was SHOCKED! Sure enough the boxes and furniture started coming right away. One mover was pulling boxes down the hall while I directed the other to different rooms where each box should go.
20 minutes later every box was moved into my apartment…40−45 minutes TOTAL to move into a 1 bedroom apartment with a full 15-​foot UHaul truck. Even when I unpacked, nothing was broken and they had paid attention to the fragile boxes making sure nothing was on top of them.
I cannot praise this company enough and the 2 men they sent out to me. They were incredibly pleasant, saw I was stressed and put my mind at ease, were extremely professional and INCREDIBLY FAST! If anyone is looking to move please book this company and their movers! I have already recommended them to 3 of my friends that are moving in the next few months and I hope to god that they listen and use them since they made my move-​in a breeze!

I used SmoothMove AGAIN 2 years later and they were just as amazing as the first time. I honestly wish they were in MA where I moved. Quality and trustworthy businesses in NYC can be hard to find, and these guys are GOLD. They were on time, polite and friendly, and fast paced. They finished the job early just like they did 2 years ago.

The coordinator and movers were all very prompt and professional from beginning to end. I had packed my own u-​haul and driven to NYC from IL. The whole process was very stressful up until when the movers met me at the new apartment. One of the movers was even kind enough to reassure me that they had everything handled. In the end, they did a stellar job moving; I couldn’t be happier with the result.

Three excellent, courteous, professional and very strong men helped my fiancé and I move our furniture from two separate apartments into a new place. I had to rent my own U-​haul van and felt extremely nervous driving such a big vehicle in Manhattan. The guys from Smooth Move went out of their way to assist me with parking, driving and directions. I can’t imagine how we would have gotten through the day without them.

Experience could not have been any better. They were very professional, came exactly on time, and got the job done faster than I expected. I would absolutely recommend them. The movers I used to unload my truck in Chicago complemented how well the truck was packed. These guys are great.

Smooth Move NYC could not have provided better service or all around moving experience. The owner/​coordinator and movers themselves were true pros: on-​time, friendly, and very experienced moving furniture carefully to/​from homes. They filled up every square inch of my U Haul without putting any belongs at risk of breaking. I’ve already recommended these guys to friends. One word of advice: buy or rent furniture and appliance cloths from DIY rental houses like U Haul. This will make Smooth Move NYC’s job go faster and save you money by doing the job under schedule.

Fantastic moving service. Prior to the move, they were communicative and helpful in every respect. During the move, the two guys were very friendly and professional and impressively efficient. All reasonably priced too. We moved from Greenwich Village to the Upper East Side. The whole thing took about 4 hours. We have a big Ikea TV unit that I was convinced we’d have to take apart — but they managed to squeeze it up five flights of very narrow stairs! I’m definitely going to use them again.

Smooth Move moved me in and out of my apartment in NYC. Same three guys both times. Efficient, careful and friendly. Plus Mike communicated clearly every step of the way. Every other moving company should take a lesson from them on how a move should be done!

Smooth move assisted me I moving from BK to LI. Ken and Alex were the guys who did the leg work and they were both extreme professionals. They packed and wrapped my furniture like it was their own. They worked so hard at times I really wondered how they were still going. I would recommend them to anyone, no matter how big or how small the move.

Amazing from start to finish! I was in a bind at work (which is in San Diego, CA) and had an issue with a customer shipment (in Brooklyn, NY) where we needed to have something uncrated and unloaded off a truck. After calling several companies in a frenzy, while trying to keep a deadline and keep my customer happy, I finally found Smooth Move. I submitted an online request for a quote and to check availability. I was concerned about hearing back in time but I not only received a response within a timely fashion, I don’t really remember how long but definitely less than an hour, but I was also told they could schedule me for the next day. All the other companies that I had previously called were rude and pushy so I was pleasantly surprised by the attitude of Mike when I spoke with him. I set up the service and paid with credit card online and was promptly contacted to make sure they had all the information they needed. Mike was very understanding and even texted me to make sure that I would reply to his email so he had all the other information needed. I was texted the following day when the crew show up, on time, and continued to text the crew over the course of the 3 hours that I scheduled and continued to correspond through the additional 2 hours that I asked them to stay, while they waited patiently for my trucking company to finally show!
They were responsive, on time & even were able to stay late to wait for the truck and they unloaded without a problem! They not only saved me, but they saved my company’s relationship with the customer! If I were in NY or if anyone in that area ever needs a recommendation, I would highly recommend them! Moved from Miami to NYC and they did my unloading at the new apartment. They were very fast! So fast that he was nice enough to help build my bed frame. I also had some problems with the move in date and smooth move was able to change my scheduled date several times. Very accommodating!

These guys were great! Not only were they super flexible when we had a problem with our move and needed to adjust the time, but their communication was prompt and pleasant. They sent us a survey about the details of our move to make sure everything was right. We hired 2 guys for 2 hours to unload a 14 ft u-​haul into a 2^nd floor apartment with an elevator. Everything went perfectly. The guys worked their butts off getting our stuff inside! They were also cordial to our neighbors when they encountered them in the halls. All of our (many) boxes were stacked neatly against the walls so that we could actually navigate the apartment during the days of unpacking. We will absolutely be using these guys for our next move!

You really can’t ask for more in a moving company. In a nutshell, these guys are great with communication, professional, friendly and they get the job done.

after reserving a truck and they reached out to me for more information about my move in 15 minutes. Mike made it really easy to give them the information they needed to prepare for my move and even confirmed my move via text the next day. I was very impressed with how digitally connected the Smooth Move Office is.
The movers came right on time. I reserved 2 hours of their time and they worked very hard to review what had to be done as far as how many boxes vs furniture needed to be packed and how to pack it into the truck. We were finished unloading in my new location with 15 minutes to spare.

This is one of the best moving services my husband and I have ever used.
We were leaving Manhattan and decided to do a ‘self-​move’ with a U-​Haul as it saved $ 900; however, we were nervous about taking down all of our furniture by ourselves. We found Smooth Move NYC on the U-​Haul website and after seeing all of the reviews we decided to give it a try — with so many 5 star reviews they had to be good. We were not disappointed.
Kenny and Pat were both nice, punctual, and careful with our things. They managed to help us wrap our furniture and move in less than 2 hours. Mike was in touch the day before via text message and email and on the morning of the move. I have to say that this part made me feel so much better… you don’t want to be forgotten about when you are double parked with a giant truck on a Manhattan street.
If we move back to NYC I would hire them again without hesitation.

Wow. where can I start, hmm… Just to give my fellow Unilocalers some perspective:
About me: In the past few years, I’ve done one full service move, two long distance moves and one local move. And by far, Smooth Move NYC was the best service!
About the service: I hired this company for labor only for two hours (furniture and boxes for 1 bedroom or two people) since I rented a 17-​ft U-​Haul truck, dolly, furniture pads, etc. on my own.
My comment: At first, I honestly did not feel too comfortable calling them because every review they got on Unilocal had 5 stars (kinda like «if it is too good to be true, then it is too good to be true» mentality) but I decided to give them a try. After I called them, Mike explained the process which involved (1) answering some basic e-​mail questionnaire (address, move date, size of the truck, etc.), (2) getting confirmation e-​mail, (3) reminder call from Mike to go over some logistics one day before the move (this gave me an assurance that the movers would actually show up), and (4) text message on the move day to let me know the names of the movers.
On the day of the move, the movers (Kenny and Jay) showed up 10 – 15 minutes early and they started right away after assessing all the stuff we had to move. From the moment they arrive until they shut the U-​Haul door with everything in it, they never took a break, always had a smile on their face and boy, were they strong! I mean I have seen some strong steroid-​gym freaks and some strong movers but Kenny and Jay were at a different level, especially Jay! Also, I know I only hired them for labor but they proactively wrapped all our furniture with the pads, helped with disassembling, etc.
We were first worried about fitting all the stuff in the truck (we had 5 wardrobe boxes, 40+ boxes (extra large to small), and lots of bulky furniture for NYC standard) but I have to say Kenny must have earned a PhD in 3D tetris or something. He did his magic and everything somehow magically fit but more importantly they were all somehow very secure that none of the stuff had any damage after driving 250+ miles, unloading and unpacking.
I’m usually critical and I always put pros and cons on my reviews but I don’t really have anything negative to say about these guys. These guys are pros and if you read thus far, stop wasting time reading other reviews or searching for other movers, just hire them!
