Liz Y.

Business Owner

A licensed NYC guide and certified culinary professional, Liz specializes in customized food tours in Manhattan and Brooklyn with gourmet tastings. Between bites, she includes history, culture, and architecture for groups from 1 – 40 guests.

The entrepreneur, cooking teacher and nutrition editor developed her restaurant and service philosophies as general manager of two restaurants (one in Philadelphia and the other in the World Financial Center) and during her tenure as Director of the world’s largest avocational cooking program.

Besides attending culinary school in NYC, she also has a graduate degree in Food Studies and Food Management. When not touring, she splits her time between Park Slope and Hell’s Kitchen.

Last weekend a group of friends and I took Liz’s Williamsburg Brooklyn food tour and it was fantastic! Liz was personable, knowledgeable and so flexible with a bunch of demanding ladies and we all had a marvelous time. Learning the history, both cultural and culinary, of the area was so interesting, and Liz made it so enjoyable. The food stops included Scandinavian bakery, Vietnamese, barbecue, chocolate, and a German beer garden — so awesome! I highly recommend Liz and her tours and I am looking forward to returning to New York soon and taking abother tour.

This was my second tour with Liz. Last weekend 5 of my friends and I went on a tour of South Williamsburg! It was fantastic! Liz is really tapped into the food scene all over Manhattan and recommends the best places. We had a wide variety, from a cheese monger, to a Vietnamese restaurant, on to the best beef brisket sandwich I’ve ever had! We stopped at various shops and learned allot about the changing neighborhoods. We finished with a chocolate tasting and cocktails at a beer garden!
My previous tour was of the lower east side! Everywhere we went was better than the previous one! We started at an appetizer store, than a knishery, both locations were family owned since the early 1900’s. We also went to a deli, cheese monger, and ended with an egg cream. It was all accompanied by history of old New York and the evolution of the lower east side. Liz is friendly, professional and most of all knowledgeable of the different locations. She truly has a love of food and the city. A tour not to be missed!
