Perfect Fantasy Hair & Nail Salon

I came here tonight after a woman at another smaller hair place closer to my apartment was super rude to me when I went in to ask for a trim — so that may have colored my opinion of THIS place just a little.
However: Everyone here was so, so nice. I came in at about 7:15 and only waited like three minutes. They automatically sat me down to get shampooed, which I didn’t think I needed but it was hot today and I walked kind of far and, you know, bangs get gross pretty quick so I went with it. I’m glad I did because it was sincerely one of the best shampoos I’ve ever had. The girl who washed my hair was so sweet and funny, plus they give you a shoulder rub.
The guy who cut my hair was also very cool. He talked to me long enough to figure out what I wanted, and then didn’t chat my ear off while he was working. I haaaate making small talk during hair cuts and I sometimes feel bad for not wanting to, so I do feel like that’s worth a mention for others out there like me who just want to space out while the stylist does their thing. There’s definitely enough going on in there to prevent awkward silences.
I don’t get complicated cuts and generally just show the person cutting my hair a picture of the bangs I want and then let go and let God, you know? So this place was perfect for me. I’d say I was in and out in about twenty minutes and the whole thing only set me back 30 bucks (plus tips.) I think the labyrinth on Astor place will remain my go-​to for truly cheap hair, but I’ll definitely keep this place in mind for when I need to stay closer to home.

Listen: it ain’t Barneys sweetheart so don’t go bitching when it’s not über spa luxe! What is it? Astoria local hotspot that gets it done without making rent late! Great staff, well trained, hygienic, never had a bad mani/​pedi, (and I’ve had them everywhere NYC, LA, Tokyo, Paris, high end spas and dollar bill slums in Chinatown), bang for the buck they rock. I think the problem is 0 friends «reviewers» are a little shady with the one star feedback. If this is one star you need to grab your moms credit card, leave NYC and go back to townieville salon 101-​because it gets a lot worse than this lol! Plus kinda weird-​makes me think it’s a competitor down the street who does an ok job of scooping up their considerable overflow. But this place is on point. Gel mani=worth it. And come EARLY for blowouts! Less crowded. You show up on Friday at 5pm=expect to wait. (Applicable to ANY NYC salon, real New Yorkers know this!) Love the blowouts and the neck massages they give during both, very cool! Bonus points: banging sushi next door at Matsu post mani!

I dont know why anyone would want to get their hair done here… My hair looks like 10 year old cut it and i can literally blow dry my hair better in 10 min than it took this girl to do in a half hour. She ripped my earring out of my ear… Im pretty sure I have more split ends than i started with. AND THEN… They charge me more than they said to begin with. My hair looks so horrible I’m actually crying while writing this. Holy crap… And why would a hair dresser use a straight iron?! The point it that theyre supposed to know how to do that without hot tools. K done. Crying.

It’s super cheap and they do a great job. what more is there to say. My hair is a bit unruly to say the least, and they know how to do awesome blow-​outs. The rare times I get manicures, they last a week and that makes me happy.

I go to this place because it’s cheap. Obviously, you get what you pay for.
First of all, one of the tubs I was soaking my feet in got clogged. They cleaned it in front of me and the jet or drain (whatever it’s called) was clogged with a ton of dirt and hair… ew.
There are a few girls here who do an awesome job with manis and pedis but, I had this short woman, who always wears scrubs, do my mani and pedi. The gloves she wore during my pedicure were too big and the pedicure tools she used on my feet kept slipping out of her hands. She couldn’t even hold my foot properly because the fingers on the gloves were too long for her hands. She did a decent job with my toes as in cleaning and painting them. She didn’t really scrub my legs or feet which was a huge letdown.
The manicure was AWFUL. She used cuticle cutters that were too harsh on my fingers. She gave me so many cuts. She kept going about her business while they bled until I told her to do something about them. The nail polish was goopy and she lost all interest once she saw that I tipped her only $ 5. I usually tip well when I go because their prices are so low.
The girl with the glasses and (she’s ALWAYS there) and another girl named Chloe are the BEST. I’m going to pay a bit more and go somewhere else now.

Been here twice for regular manicure and pedicure, and sometimes it chips the day of or it chips the next day, but both of the nail technicians I got were really nice, my mom on the other hand got someone who was so rude. The women that did my moms nails kept on letting people skip me on the line, I was on that line for about an hour and there were only about 4 people who were on that line, I was suppose to be second, but guess what? I went last. I was in a hurry, I just wanted to go in and out, but it was so unfortunate that I had to encounter this. Plus, they’re a bit under-​staffed

I’ve been going to this salon a little over 2 years– even since moving away from Astoria. I REALLY love this salon. You really can’t beat the prices and you don’t need an appointment. The wait times are almost never unreasonable. The only issue is that the quality of service you get is fully dependent on the nail tech/​hair stylist, etc. that you get. Cindy is hands down the best nail technician. She is extremely detail oriented, she listens to and obliges your specific requests (I want my toenails REALLY short) and I am always happy with the work when she’s done it. I have had other really awesome nail techs there, too. This morning I had a less than satisfactory experience, and I think it’s because recently they’ve been hiring people from other salons and don’t give them a run down on the standards that the senior nail techs have. The hours are 9:30 am to 8 pm. I was there at 9:30 to get my bangs trimmed and a gel manicure. There was no one there to even unlock the gate until 10. The haircut– fine. Quick and easy. The manicure– disaster. The nail tech was trying to rush through the whole process. She was very rough and REPEATEDLY hurt my hands. She scraped really hard at the gel and at my cuticles, then she didn’t soak my fingertips, the purpose of which is to soften the cuticles. Then she ripped at the cuticles and she made TWO of my fingers BLEED. I asked why she wasn’t soaking them and she said it was a «gel manicure and you don’t soak for that.» I said they ALWAYS soak for every manicure, and then she did get the bowl of (ice cold) water to soak my nails in. She kept unnecessarily digging her nails into my nail beds and causing me pain. She then sloppily threw the gel layers on, and of course at the end sprayed alcohol on the cuticles that she had ripped open. Then, to top it all off, she had a large ring on and when giving me a «hand massage,» dug said ring into the side of my knuckle, yet again causing unnecessary pain. Overall, this experience will not stop me from going to my favorite salon, but it’s not the only bad experience I’ve had here.

I went to get an ombré highlight for the second time here (first time was ok, slightly harsh underneath in back but manageable). When I came back for a second highlight, I went with a stylist I hadn’t gone with before, but was reassured that he was able to do ombré. Once he had made his way to front was when i saw he was seriously just slapping on beach around the level of my eyebrows all around my head in a straight line!!!
When dye was washed out, I had a permeant blonde headband going all the way around my head!!! I had to go to meet someone so I was unable to stay to make them fix the mistake, so i paid (BAD IDEA!) and made an apt with the stylist I normally go to (Kevin) and left confident that he would be able to fix my hair.
I got to salon next day to have them tell me that the way I wanted my hair to be fixed (all over brown dye applied) was going to cost me MORE money. I let Kevin try to fix by method that was not going to cost any more money and after 3 times of applying a dye to the blonde line all over the line was still very much there and i could feel my hair dying out and breaking. I told them that they could not fix this and demanded my money back. The manager (Jimmy) would not do this. Through arguing with Jimmy, I also found out that that stylist HAD NEVER DONE OMBRE HIGHLIGHTS BEFORE!!! But that they were very busy that day and let him try!!! I argued and argued but he would not refund me. I left pissed and still with permeant head band of blonde.
Later in day I came back with my boyfriend to try to get my money back again but was told that Jimmy was no longer there and that they didn’t know this number and then they changed story saying he didn’t have a phone! (Bullshit!) I then learned through researching that you can dispute a charge on ur credit card.

I usually don’t write reviews, but I just couldn’t let this fly by. I went in for a manicure and pedicure yesterday, and the pedicure went smoothly. I couldn’t say the same for the manicure I got. It was probably the worst and most painful manicure experience I’ve ever gotten. I was really upset, but since I didn’t want to make a big deal or a big scene, I just kept quiet. So what happened was, the nail technician was working on pushing back my nail bed for my fingernails. She was very rough and it really hurted. As soon as she was done, she went straight into cutting my cuticles. And I’m pretty sure you’re suppose to put some kind of oil to soften up the cuticles, but she didn’t. The end result was that she cut my skin 3x and made me bleed 3x. She just mumbled one little apology, but didn’t really seem sincere about it. I wished I knew her name or could describe her more, but all I can say is that she did not look like a friendly or welcoming person. But do request for the nail technician with the glasses. She has been doing a phenomenal job and probably is the friendliest one there.

Just moved to Astoria and have already been here three times and each time I have had a wonderful experience. I’ve gotten a mani, pedi and just recently a gel mani ($ 22!!! Literally a steal). Everyone is very kind and helpful and will go out of their way to make sure what you want done gets done. Definitely recommend this place!

Went yesterday to get my hair cut and it was amazing! The staff are very helpful and made it look exactly like the pictures from Pinterest I showed them. Will definitely be a repeat customer.

This is by far the very worst experience I have ever had at a salon anywhere in the entire world. If it was possible for me to give negative stars I would absolutely rate this place a –10 on the star scale. I went in yesterday, with pictures, I was explicit in what I wanted… it was awful. Highlights that started roughly three inches down from my scalp… because apparently that is in style? So I went back today to have them «fix» it and it might be worse now than it was yesterday. I think it is amazing that people are able to provide this disgusting level of service and still keep their license’. This place is disgraceful, should be put out of business effective immediately. If you care at all about how you look or the end results of your hair I am warning you not to go to this hole in the wall. Mani/​pedi was mediocre, she only massaged one leg, and my cuticles are the same shade as my nail polish… DISGRACEFUL.

Update: Just went back for my second haircut and mani-​pedi and they were so awesome and spent a ton of time with me. The haircut was even better the second time!

I got my nails done here before not that great service then either. This time it was a different girl so I gave it another try. She had long light brown hair. while she was doing my cuticles, she cut my skin off. It started bleeding and burning. So I packed up my stuff to leave and she said «why are you leaving? it’s fine! It’s ok!!» Oh did I mentioned a day later it was infected.
I also got a hair cut here before the cut was a mass. While he was blow drying my hair he dropped that big cylinder brush on my face four times.

Pleasantly surprised!
I had only been here once before for a manicure, which was fine, but I was weary about getting my hair done here. The concept is great, all in one stop shop, but would they really be good at hair? I get my hair blown out once a week in the city and needed a last min local blow, so I gave this place a try.
I made an appt., and they took me right away when I arrived. The hair wash was AMAZING! Massage included (neck & scalp) and my hair felt so, so, so clean! I honestly would go back just for that.
But, here is where the 4 and not 5 starts comes in– she then pretty much forced me into getting a trim. I hate cutting my hair and just had it trimmed a few weeks back, so I did not feel I needed one at all. However, with the language barrier and her persistence, I gave in. I was pretty peeved and scared that this would go really bad… however, she did a great job! My hair actually looked better and the blow out was perfect. I, as mentioned, was very pleasantly surprised. I even received several compliments that night and the next day about «my hair cut».
So, although I did not want the trim, it all worked out, and for the better. AND, best part, it was a total of only $ 33!!! A blow-​out alone at my usual spot is $ 65, with a trim, it’s about &85-​$ 100. So this place is a steal. I am definitely going back.

Went here today for a gel manicure. It was 22, which is a great price. The manicure was great, and very thorough. The only downside was she nicked my cuticle, but it wasn’t that bad and she was very apologetic about it. Other wise they were clean, and the manicure was very well done. I would definately come back here again, and plan to for their haircuts.

Great place for haircut, Manu, pedi ect. Prices are very reasonable, the people are nice, do a great job and the place is always very clean. $ 20 for mani/​pedi or $ 25 for quality gel, you can’t beat that in Astoria

I hate to leave bad reviews. It bothers me to do so. However, I came here once for a pedicure and manicure and left with two sliced cuticles and my big toe later became infected. I’ve never had that happen anywhere else in all my life.
The people here were really very nice, but that does not make up for proper sanitation and skill. Please pay the extra money and go to one of the several other nail salons within 2 blocks of this place.

I have to update because it was finally time for my first pedicure of the spring!
I generally come here for exceptionally cheap hair styling, and I know their nail service is awesome too.
There was just something meaningful about putting on flip-​flops and coming here today.
I wish I had thought to get the name of the woman that restored my weathered feet. It’s really not important because they all treat me as a treasured guest.
Become a regular and you’ll know what I mean.

I decided to be cheap and dye my hair at home, well my hair came out orange! I rushed to the closest hair salon and decided to choose this place over the overpriced salon next door. Boy I was glad! Not only did they change my hair color to a normal brown, and they also gave me a great edgy cut by Rhonda. The best part was the price was all for $ 60, so haircut, dye, wash, blowdry, & flat iron! Also great shampoo massage and back massage.
I saw a girl get a haircut from Jimmy and he did an amazing job that next time I will ask for him.
Went back to get my gel manicure a week later since I saw so many people getting mani-​pedis ($ 16) a week before and Cindy did such a great job, i decided to even get a pedicure, this all cost only $ 35 with a great massage. Meanwhile across the Street I used to pay $ 30 alone for a gel manicure.
Def dont be fooled by the outside and language barrier, the staff is super friendly and know what they are doing.
The prices cant be beat! A men’s haircut is only $ 10!
