WORST place I’ve ever been to.
Went in for a simple pedicure & filling on my acrylic nails and they did such HORRIBLE work.
Then had the audacity to ask for a tip.
So immensely upset & disappointed.
Look at the pictures of my nails & see for yourself.
What an immense embarrassment.
You pay way more in NYC but definitely don’t get better work done.
Tragic mistake on my part going in there.

They’re getting 2 stars instead of 1 because I didn’t have to wait when I got there, the interior is relatively nice, and the lady doing my nails was friendly.
This review is only for a gel manicure, since this is all I got there.
My gel manicure (1) cost $ 37 before tip (too pricey if you ask me); (2) was awful from the get go, it wasn’t neat, it was on my skin, the nails weren’t smooth; and (3) it chipped like 3 days after – I’m going to stop by now and ask them to fix the chipped nails (2 nails so far).
I REALLY wanted to like this place, it’s right down the block from my work and it looks clean and it isn’t busy, but it was seriously the worst gel manicure I’ve gotten so far. I had another cheaper one at a different salon nearby, and the lady doing it was SO RUDE but at least she did a great job on my nails – I’d take that over bad nails.
Still looking for the happy medium!

Mani-​pedi together took 30 minutes! Needless to say that quality was beyond terrible. And there was an empty salon. So there was no rush what so ever. We all know that they don’t know how to do nails in NYC but this was the whole new level of disappointment. Thank you Touch of East for wasted money!

I love this spot. They are quick enough so that I can pop out during lunch, get a manicure, have my nails dry and return to work within 30 – 40 minutes. They also offer a brand called «Vinyluxe» for $ 2 more ($ 14 total for the manicure) that lasts for a solid week without having to get gels or anything. I got a chair massage here while I waited for my nails to dry, too, and it was really good! It’s nothing extraordinarily fancy but for a fast pick-​me-​up on a workday, it’s pretty awesome. Note that you must tip in cash.

I’m not one to review however after multiple times of giving this place another chance I felt obligated. It’s conveniently located near my office so on a lunch break I’d run across the street for a quick (maybe 15 mins tops) manicure every now and again. I went this afternoon to get my gel manicure off and a regular manicure done. Instead of soaking my gel for at least 10 minutes like most salons do, they SCRAPED the gel polish off after leaving the remover/​foil on for just about 1.5−2 minutes. Since the gel didn’t have enough time to soften and was being scraped rather roughly part of my ring fingernail was SCRAPED OFF. When I pulled my hand away and mentioned to the «manicurist» she almost took my nail off completely she brushed it off and continued. Needless to say that one fingernail is now barely existent and thin as paper.
They do a quick, thoughtless manicure and force a 10 min back massage on you and this incident put me over the edge. I’ll walk an extra block or two to get a thorough and SAFE manicure moving forward. Giving this place one star was even too much in my opinion.

The woman made the girl giving me a manicure switch because she didn’t feel like doing my friends French manicure. Then she cut my nail painfully low and didn’t even apologize when I Unilocaled in pain. Then she chatted on her cell. THEN she had the balls to give me my paid for massage with one hand while chatting on the phone with the other. Last she comes up to me and says «You’re dry now. Pay me». Complete waste of my money and you should fire that woman.

Worst manicure and pedicure of my life. Both my manicure and pedicure chipped in 2 days, and my heels look like no one bothered touching them. For almost $ 50, its a crime.

I came in for a $ 12 manicure and afterwards the nail tech ushered me to the massage chair while my nails dried. I didn’t ask for a massage and she made it seem like I had to go there. They don’t tell you that massage is an extra $ 12 (I thought it was a courtesy) so just beware of their up selling techniques.

You are a wolf in sheep’s clothing, Touch of East. You lure people in with your «fair» price and pretty interior, but don’t be fooled!

My friend called to inquire about price ($ 33 for a mani pedi — great!) and then subsequently make reservations. In the end they charged us $ 38 per person and responded with «you must’ve gotten confused with another place.» Uhhh, we wouldn’t have made reservations if you told us $ 38 over the phone.

In their effort to upsell the bejesus out of everyone, they were rude in telling essentially telling my friend «nawwww girl, your feet are bad, you need the extra scrubbing.» It’s not even sandal season!

Point to a timer midway through my pedi. No words. Sneaky upsell for an extra leg massage. I should’ve been more inquisitive, but they could’ve actually used words to ask me. You know, verbally communicate with your customers. Some businesses find this useful.

Witnessed them tell another customer that they’ll be right with them and to have a seat in a chair. 5 mins later they tell her it’s gonna be 30 minutes. Since when does «we’ll be right with you» mean a 30 minute wait? Perhaps this is why they prefer non verbal communication.
I left the salon feeling bewildered and slightly scammed. I thought at least I still had a good time with my friends and the mani was well done. Even that proved me wrong. Two days after my mani, I have 6 chipped nails. Wolf, I tell ya. Wolf.

Excellent service! Walked in for a quick manicure and they were on it! 10 minute manicure with a quick massage while my nails dried. Will be back!

Very nice salon with professional services. My manicure didn’t last very long, only about 3 days, but the manicurist did a good job. I would return to this salon if I were in the neighborhood.

I agree that they definitely upsell here, so you do pay for the environment. The spa manicures and pedicures here are so-​so, but the people are nice. There is no loud TV or technicians yelling to each other.
I’ve never been nagged about leaving a 20% tip. I don’t usually go here unless I want something nearby for convenience.

The physical appearance of this business is amazing, and the price points are reasonable. But, that is where the inviting nature of this business stops. Nothin irritates me more than a place that renders a service telling me how much I have to top. The manicurist haggled me about a 20% tip after she delivered mediocre service. She proceeded to talk to me across the establishment and was consistently rude. I smudged my nail and she then told me there was a $ 2 fee and I hadn’t left the establishment. The experience just got consistently worse.

Preparing for a wedding I am off to this weekend, I quickly ran out of the office at lunch to get a quick manicure. Across the street is Touch of East, which I walk past everyday, at least twice per day. When I wandered in for a simple manicure, I did not realize I would be getting the best manicure I have gotten in NYC. Full Stop.
The attention to detail was amazing. The kind lady that did my nails was incredibly thorough and did a wonderful job. It was the type of service I would have expected from a $ 50 manicure, not an $ 18 dollar manicure.
The facilities are new, clean and very welcoming. The environment is quite Zen. Even their nail dryers are high quality — one cycle did the trick!
I will definitely be going to Touch of East from now on.

This place is across the street from my work and one day, my coworker and I stopped in, pulled by its swanky… ness. The décor is tranquilizing and perfect for bonding with girlfriends over getting your nails done. Their spa chairs for pedicures are brand new, spotless and have all the usual amenities– massaging etc.
They have a good polish selection– OPI/​Essie and some other brands I didn’t catch. It was relatively quiet when I came here with my coworker, on a weeknight, after work… I liked that we were able to talk and flip through magazines though.
Prices are high — $ 35 for mani-​pedi. I feel it’s occasionally worth it if you’re in the immediate area and want a truly relaxing experience to unwind but if you’re just looking to get your nails done, no frills, there are far better options in NYC (Midas Nails). And even if you want some frills, there are other places who do mani/pedi’s for $ 25 – 30.
As with most nail salons, it’s always boils down to the nail tech. I lucked out and got Jenny, who apparently is the best one there and IMO, she really was; she was nice, conversive and very meticulous. If I go back, I’d request her and only her again.
They do upsell a lot here though, which is really annoying.

This place is very nice and you will pay for it. And beware of the up-​sell (spa pedicure vs regular, callous removal for an extra $ 10, massages, etc). Normally high priced nail treatments and up-​selling will turn me off but not at Touch of East… This place is actually worth it.
For $ 50, I received a manicure, pedicure, and 10 minute massage… and I was in and out in just under an hour. This is a perfect lunchtime trip to escape the office for a few… Serene ambiance, lots of polish choices, skilled and friendly nail techs, and great chair massages (they go one step further than normal ones and use lotion and a hot towel). Works for me!

I walked in after finding this place on Unilocal and need something relatively close to my apartment, does gel nails well, clean and not super expensive. Touch of East Nail Salon and Spa successfully delivered on all of the above.
They have nice décor, a pleasant waterfall in the back for relaxing sounds and super friendly staff that really understood my nail issues (which are many). I will be back!

Three words; Go to JENNY. She is the absolute best! After my first visit I was completely hooked. She is the only person i have gone to where a month after a pedicure, I STILL get compliments! She takes her time and is extemely knowledgable and experienced. I live in Brooklyn, but always label this as my go to spot.
