We had a broken pipe under our kitchen last summer, which we thought would be an easy fix, until our plumber balked at our asbestos-​wrapped ductwork which was surrounding the broken area of the pipe. Knowing that we had to remove the asbestos to repair the pipe, and that we could not use our kitchen sink until the drainpipe was fixed, the pressure was definitely on for a fast repair. We logged on to Unilocal,called 5 places in the East Bay. Of the three that actually called us back, ERI was by far the fastest and most professional. They sent someone out for a quote that morning, and were able to start work the next day. They did a full environmental clean up of our basement and crawl space and were done within a day. We were back in our kitchen by the end of the week, which was fantastic considering that one asbestos abatement group did not even return our call for 3 – 4 days and had no availability until the following week. I could not have been happier with the results and ERI and my only regret is that it has taken almost a year to write this review.

I hired ERI to remove an asbestos plenum above my furnace. After a phone call, I was able to email photos of the furnace and plenum to ERI and get a quote via email. The ERI crew showed up on time and performed the work as planned. The crew seemed very competent and professional. They set up multilayer containment areas above the furnace above and at the furnace closet entrance with negative air pressure and air filtration. I hired another company to come in and test the containment area for asbestos fibers after ERI had completed the work. Test came back clean and ERI came in the next day and removed the containment area and all of the plastic sheeting and tape. There was no damage to walls or floors from the tape as some other reviewers have stated. Overall I was very satisfied with the work that ERI performed.

Excellent communication from the project manager (Jake). All abatement work performed as scheduled. Cleanup was excellent.

In order to add a bathroom I needed to remove an old translucent asbestos pipe that spanned from the basement through the roof. I came across ERI while driving behind one of their vans on the freeway. I called and Sean was very knowledgeable. He took the time to explain my options and ask about other work involved in the project and refer me to a company that could help me test for lead and asbestos in the walls that would be demolished as well. Sean kept in touch with me, came in once my contractor started demolition and worked seamlessly with him and got the job done quickly, safely and at the price quoted.

Just had Sean out to check out my situation, as I had a small amount of mold growing underneath my range. Sean was extremely knowledgeable and professional — far more so then any other mold company I have worked with and I have worked with several. I highly recommend ERI for any mold issues that you may encounter, they are very thorough and they don’t cut corners regarding a mold problem.

I had a very good experience with Environmental Remedies Inc. (ERI). Sean Tamayo, the Project Manager and Estimator was very prompt and professional. The crew working on the mold problem in my home was also prompt, considerate, efficient, and they explained every step of the job as they were doing it. A lead person then inspected the work after it was done. They cleaned up everything after they were done. I would highly recommend ERI.

We thought we had mold/​mildew in an exterior wall as a result of a roofline leak. The smell in a portion of our house was awful and our call to Environmental Remedies was quickly answered. Within 3 days, they had sent two people to review our problem and concluded that the source of our problem was not mold/​mildew, but a small, dead animal in our wall. They referred us to a pest control expert who resolved our problem. We were hugely appreciative of Environmental Remedies’ professionalism, honesty and sense of urgency. Based on this, we would call them again for any related problem and recommend them.

I have used ERI with a massive explosion I have had to manage and they have been FANTASTIC. Brad is the best in the business, one of the most responsive, professional people I have had the pleasure of working with. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone! ERI goes way above and beyond the call of duty! This project includes demolition of an asbestos filled building, and they have made this job go flawlessly especially for the owners who are living there. My Board of Directors appreciate everything they have done as well!

There is no one else I would recommend for asbestos. We had some of the asbestos left by the company we hired when we changed out our furnace ducting and I’m glad we found ERI on Diamond Certified. Not something you want to mess around with.

We have a water damage company and use Scott and his team for all of our asbestos work. Not only do we deal with the same satisfied customers, we come in after them and see what they’ve done. The are the most reliable company we have found. We were referring one of their competitors and when they worked on our house, that company left asbestos behind.
My technicians won’t work with anyone else. Asbestos is a tricky thing, you want someone good.

They came in and did my job promptly. The cost was higher than removal of non asbestos popcorn ceiling but it had to be done.

As of today ERI is doing a terrible terrible job.
Their estimator, Sean, came to look at our house. We stressed to him that our popcorn ceilings may be difficult to remove because they had been painted, but he assured us that would be no problem. Job done in 1 to 2 days he said. He gave us a quote which we agreed to.
Today they started work on our house. At the very end of the day Sean called and told us they only scraped out about ¼ of job. Now Sean is telling us it will take much longer and COST MUCH MORE than we previously agreed on because there the popcorn is painted and they are having a difficult time removing it. So ERI has effectively taken our house hostage (it is all sealed up and filled with asbestos scrapings everywhere) and is offering us — either pay more or leave ¾ of the job, including ½ of a hallway, unfinished. Your choice.
We’ll see what happens. We’re caught trying to decide whether to pay them or do something else. But so far here is where we stand — They’ve finished ¼ of the job and our now demanding more money than we agreed and several days more in order to finish. Essentially FRAUD. Try another company. How much worse could they do than this?

They initially quoted us $ 3243.00 on 770 sqft. They are now trying to add $ 1000 to this price! In the email with the initial quote Sean acknowledges that the ceilings are painted and will be difficult to remove. Nothing has changed. This is FRAUD pure and simple.

We recently hired ERI for asbestos abatement for our new Chamber of Commerce location in Auburn, CA. They were extremely professional and did a fantastic job! Rob Meyer, their project manager was well informed and did exactly what they said they would and completed the project on time. Moreover, they were very supportive of us and our community. They kept us informed every step of the way. Their GM, Scott Tamayo even made sure we were satisfied. All of us, were very impressed and will contact them on our next project. When we bought our home, one of the first things we wanted to do was remove the popcorn from the ceilings. We interviewed quite a few companies and felt ERI was the most competitively priced with the best service. We were in constant contact and they arrived 5 minutes early for the appointment. Because of the nature of the job, we had to be out of the home for a few hours. When we returned we noticed that each room had their own bag which contained vent covers, screws and ceiling fans. This was something we were not expecting and very pleasantly surprised. It made it very easy to put everything back together once the ceilings were textured and painted. Each item was handled with extreme care and there was not any damage and all screws were included. After they left, there was not a mess in sight and they took all of their plastic sheeting with them.
I would recommend ERI to anyone and it is so refreshing to have a company who puts their customers first. From beginning to end, they were extremely professional, kind and prompt. If you are looking for a professional abatement company, then do not look any further.

Updated. They also broke my toilet flange and didn’t tell me. The company put a mechanics lean on my house because they said the insurance company didn’t pay the bill. Insurance has said they paid. At no point in time did ERI try to contact me regarding this matter.

Did a decent job about removing the popcorn ceilings, but didn’t do the hepa vacuuming of the carpet that we talked about and I was promised during the initial walkthrough. They refused my handfulls of ziplock baggies when they were taking down the light fixtures, saying they «had their own», and then didn’t put any of the lamp screws and bolts in ziplocks at all! (I found parts of the ceiling lights just tossed in piles in a couple places, with peices missing, though to be fair I don’t know that the missing parts weren’t missing before since I just bought this house and this was the first time the lights had come down.) They also left a full dump-truck’s worth of plastic sheeting in my house, and they said that removing it was my responsibility (which they’d never warned me about), and that the vacuuming we discussed was them «vacuuming the plastic». …really? Oy! Thank goodness the painters I hired afterwards were kind enough to drag all the plastic to the dump for me! (And THEY did it for FREE!!)

E.R.I. were absolutely wonderful. Matt Bane and his extremely professional, punctual, friendly, and efficient crew did an excellent and thorough job of removing water damaged and asbestos containing drywall in our home. They were honest and made me feel at ease about the work that needed to be done. These guys do great work and show excellent customer care from start to finish.

As part of a water damage incident in my home, I discovered that I had asbestos in my popcorn ceilings that needed removal.
My Insurance company’s inspector recommended ERI-​Pleasanton to provide an estimate. Matthew scheduled a time the next day to come by to provide the estimate to my insurance company.
It was approved by the insurance company and Matthew kept in touch to coordinate the best time for performed the work.
Candidly, because of some other contractor concerns (NOT ERI!), the work was on again and off again. ERI was great through the whole frustrating process… and always «ready to start the next day» to move my build-​back project forward.
Finally, the day for the work came. I met with the abatement crew and they were professional and friendly and clearly knew their work. The work was completed as scheduled and committed.
The plastic containment area that they setup was clearly air-​tight… and I couldn’t seem them tearing it down after the completion of their work since another contractor would be redoing my ceiling in the next week or so.
All in all, Matthew’s communications via phone, email and texts through the entire process was outstanding.
If I were to refer friends to an Asbestos Abatement company, this would be the one. Since this isn’t a topic that comes up often with friends and associates, I wanted to make a point of posting here so that others would know that if one is considering a company to do this work — this is the one.
Simple as that !

I called ERI to get an estimate to have some asbestos removed after having an asbestos survey done which listed out the locations and footage of material that contained asbestos.
Michael came out to meet me and I we walked through the house so he could take a look at the project. Immediately he told that the report that I got did not specify exactly where the drywall containing asbestos was and that looking around that he would treat everything as having asbestos in it because of the inexactness of the report. He said that everything in the first floor would have be assumed to have asbestos and should be gutted even though the square footage on the report clearly did not include every surface on the first floor. I was quite shocked by this statement since I was prepared only to pay to have the materials and square footage removed that the report had listed. He said that he would give me a quote for having everything removed and I said that was fine since I didn’t want to argue with him. Anyways, I’m sure he could tell that I was not particularly happy about being told that everything had to be gutted because he was not very friendly when he left.
That day, I had met with 3 companies to get quotes for the work. The other 2 companies quickly got a quote to me within the next day or two for the amounts listed on the asbestos report and one company even told me they were checking in with the person who did my survey to clarify the locations of the asbestos. Michael did not get back to me until about a week later but at least at that point he said that he wanted to set up a meeting with the asbestos surveyor to see where the asbestos was. I said that was fine and that I could let them in to the property to do so. The asbestos survey company then emailed me to set up a meeting to let the surveyor back in. About a day or two before that meeting I decided to go ahead with one of the other companies and let Michael know that I was going to go with someone else. So I went to the meeting with the surveyor so I could get clarification myself of which walls needed to be removed. The point of the meeting though was actually for the surveyor to meet with the contractor to show them which walls had asbestos. When I showed up it turned out that the meeting was supposed to be with Michael. I let Michael know that I would be going with another company before the meeting was to take place because I didn’t want to waste his time. Apparently he did not extend that same courtesy to the surveyor and just decided not to show up.
I talked to the surveyor and it turns out that the walls were either plaster or drywall and it was the drywall walls that needed to be removed which was the material listed on the survey. Had Michael spent a little more time looking at what was in front of him, he may have been able to figure that out before trying to convince me that absolutely everything had to be removed.
Overall, my experience was very unprofessional and I am glad that I will not be going with ERI if only to avoid putting up with any more of Michael’s bad attitude.

When we found our ceilings were 10% asbestos, we found several companies who do abatement in our area. We chose ERI because their quote was excellent and their reputation was very good. When we found out it is a family business, we were especially pleased. EVERY person with whom we have dealt has been friendly, efficient and professional. I cannot imagine the process going any better and I would HIGHLY recommend them. They are outstanding.
