I don’t know where to start… This place is a joke. So unprofessional ! Don’t go here if you are looking for cool fitting tux or customer service! They have no manners! I go in to try the tux for the wedding I am in… The pants was too loose & too long, I asked him if he has a pair that fits better, he said this is fitting you fine, I said I like it to fit me better, he said if you want to pay me $ 1200 I can make it fit you however you want! I said I am renting not buying… Then he said he has been working here for 16 years and if I can do his job better he would hand me his keys to the business. I said no thank you, I just want pants that fit me better, then he said «there is no I in the team but there is three u’s in shut the f… Up» HORRIBLE Service, drinking at work and mistreating customers.

Terrible customer service!
I went to Este’s to make a custom shirt when in town on business and spent 30 min of my time working with the owner Tony picking out the fabric and discussing how I wanted the shirt. At this time I was told it would not be a problem and it would take 3 – 4 weeks. I was asked to send pictures of another shirt I had that I liked and sent the pictures the next day. 6 weeks goes by and I don’t hear anything from them. I call and leave a message. Almost a week goes by and yet again I don’t hear anything from them. I then called again and was able to speak with Tony. He claims he never received the pictures and he figured I didn’t want to get the shirt. He told me he received my message a week ago but didn’t have a chance to call me back. I said I did want it and sent the pictures again. He confirmed that he received them. He then sends me an email apologizing for dropping the ball and saying he talked to the shirt manufacturer and they said it would be very difficult to add a buttonhole to the strap on the sleeve. I spoke with 3 other tailor’s who had said making a buttonhole is very basic. I then call the store and ask for Tony to find out what is going on and ask for a call back. I get an email saying «We are not making your shirt!». This is almost 8 weeks after I first ordered it.
I don’t normally take the time to write Unilocal reviews — however the customer service at Este’s was so exceptionally bad that I had to let people know.

My experience at Este’s was great. I was looking for a new suit for a black-​tie New Year’s Eve wedding. Tony is a no-​nonsense suit aficionado. He got me in the perfect size for both jacket and pants, and even threw in a complimentary tie. I was on a tight timeline, traveling to California for the wedding, and he got me fitted and on my way with time to spare. I felt great in the suit and can’t wait to wear it again.

This is my first review ever but feel I must write it to help others.
My husband wanted a custom suit to wear to our son’s wedding and because of his age and body shape off the rack suits were ill fitting. It would be a one time suit but worth it to him for that day. We discussed all of this.
I started my research by calling Estes and talking to Tony. He gave me the timeline to order. I even followed up with a visit to the store to describe details, he assured me 1 month ahead was enough time.
We went for the fitting 6.5 weeks ahead of time. That went well and he said it would be ready for a fitting in 4 weeks. I didn’t hear from Tony so called. He said it was not in and he would call back East. The suit hadn’t been started yet!!! It would have to be «walked through the stations» and overnight mailed to the store. He said it should be in 10 days later… no call received. I called Tony and he said it was in so we immediately drove in to town (25miles).
Here is where things really took a downturn.
The jacket was off by over 1 inch from edge to edge. The pants waist was off by at least 3 inches. The legs and seat were tight and my husband has no butt and skinny legs. We were panicky to say the least. He accused my husband of gaining weight when in fact he had lost weight during that month as we assured Tony and based on doctor visits. He then blamed him of wanting to button the pants hight on his abdomen, yet pants couldn’t even be buttoned low over his pubic bone! He assured us they could be altered as it was too late to remake. He said he would have them remade after the wedding which was of no use to us as it would not be worn again. We were desperate and not confident there was enough fabric to alter… he assured us there was.
He said there was no need to come in until the day before the wedding due to the distance we lived away and the times we had been in. So the day before the wedding prior to the rehearsal dinner we went in. The jacket still could not be buttoned so he rushed it back to the tailor and delivered it to the hotel. The pants were only able to be buttoned low over the pubic bone… I have never seen a man wear his pants this low but we hoped that if the jacket buttoned it would not be seen. When he dressed for dinner he attempted to sit down and realized he couldn’t so ended up wearing ill fitting suit for rehearsal dinner and wedding!!!
Of course we had already paid. As soon as I had time after the wedding (large wedding with lots of out of town family) I returned the suit and asked for a refund. Tony directed his wife to take down my credit card number and he would refund. That was while another customer was in the store. When the customer left he came over and told me he would not refund the money, was rude and indignant. My sister was with me and she witnessed all. No amount of discussing it logically worked. I did not argue with him… left the suit there and had to file a complaint thru the credit card company. I eventually got the money back but what a hassle. The money was not the issue. My husband was very disappointed as he was looking forward to his first custom suit and was embarrassed to have to wear an old suit (amazing how it still fit given the accusation of weight gain during the month wait for the custom suit) to such a big, formal wedding.

It crushes me that I have to write this review, because I usually only like to use Unilocal to give props where props are due. But in this case, it’s a must.
A few months ago my father and I had lunch, and he told me that he wanted to buy me a custom white shirt for my wedding day. I said «SWEEEET!» and after lunch we went to Estes, where my father had told me he had heard great things.
The fitting and store experience was alright. Tony, the owner, was pretty cool. We were in and out in about 30 mins and I was stoked on my shirt. He even offered to have my wedding date itched into one of the cuffs and give me a matching pocket square! I thought that was fantastic!
He told me it would take 3 – 4 weeks, which sounded reasonable and gave me more than enough time before my wedding.
After 6 weeks I had heard NOTHING. No call, no email. Whatever, I can deal with that. Like I said, I had plenty of time. So I called him and he had no idea about the shirt. I thought to myself, «This is weird, I thought HE was making the shirt by hand.»
After another few days, I called AGAIN and he said it would be delivered in the next couple of days. Whatever, it’s all good. Finally, after almost week 7, he managed to pick up the phone to tell me the shirt was delivered.
I go into the store, and Tony couldn’t even remember my name. I thought this was a legit, high-​end establishment where the business makes it a point to remember their customers’ names… But again, whatever. He also didn’t apologize for it being late. Again… whatever.
The breaking point was when he went to get my shirt for me, and he brought it to me in a plastic bag and said «You’ll probably want to launder this before your wedding.»
ARE YOU SERIOUS? I paid 200 dollars for a shirt, and it’s 2 weeks late, and you couldn’t even iron it for me? I have to take it to the dry cleaners? It’s brand new, why would it need to be laundered except for the fact that it came in a plastic bag. I get more fired up every second I think about it.
And the embroidering on the cuff was already coming unstitched when I picked it up.
The shirt fit nicely, but at this point it was all a wash.
I’m trying my best to let this all go, but I honestly just wish I had never gone to this place. I paid 200 dollars for a simple white shirt, that he obviously didn’t make. He filled out a piece of paper and sent it off to wherever. Nevermind that it was 2 weeks late, that he didn’t remember my name.
Tony Spear, here is a special message to you: Next time you «sort of» make a shirt for someone and it’s 2 weeks late, at the very least iron it for them and deliver it on a hanger.
I seriously would’ve rather bought a white shirt at TJ Maxx and tipped the register attendant $ 175 bucks.

In short, Tony stalked me on the internet about nine months after I posted my original review and came into my place of work to discuss. It wasn’t pretty. Read more here:

I recommend Este’s to anybody looking for beautiful suits and great service. I walked into Este’s on a Saturday with a suit request, and Tony Spears helped me figure out exactly what I was looking for and told me that my time crunch wouldn’t be an issue. By Thursday I had a beautifully tailored suit. The owner Tony was tremendously helpful throughout the entire process; Helping to identify my personal tastes, keeping my girlfriend engaged and entertained while I tried on my suit and made final touches, and efficiently catering to my limited time. The real show of service came after picking up my finished suit, when my car battery mysteriously died. As soon as I asked Tony if he might have a set of jumper cables he promptly stopped what he was doing, walked me into the Ace hardware next door, found a pair of jumper cables that we could borrow, pulled his car up and helped me to get my car started again without ever making me feel as though I was being a burden. I have been thoroughly impressed with both the service and the quality of products at Este’s, and I wouldn’t recommend anywhere else in Portland for your formal clothing needs. Este’s is the best.

Great service! We needed a new suit and have it tailored in a hurry. Estes ordered and rushed it right away. They did everything in their power to get us what we needed. The tailoring fit perfect we were on our way without a hitch.

I am very happy to have found Este’s Men’s Clothing in Portland OR. They make the best clothing and suits I can’t wait to have a few custom suits made by them thanks again Tony for your help I look forward to doing business with you.

Buyer beware!
Tony Spear reviewed my family’s small business poorly as retribution for us not buying a suit!
We live 1.5 hours away, they guaranteed the suits for the father and son (groom) would be in. They never called to say it was delayed so we made the trip for nothing. They then didn’t call until 2 weeks before the wedding to say it’s in and we needed to get it fitted. 2 weeks is not enough time, and way too last minute! We ended up getting gorgeous suits elsewhere (that were on time and we were treated fairly), and didn’t feel it was our responsibility as the customers to hound a business that obviously didn’t value our little sales (the first time we met, he bragged about all the big sales he does for all the important people in the area).
He proceeded to call our business today (June 1^st) and scream at my future father-​in-​law, who is the funniest, sweetest guy around.
This is all happening 3 days before our wedding. As the bride, this is making me want to cry! I refuse to let this bully ruin our wedding, but he is doing his best to slander a business we have worked so hard on.

The art of high quality tailored mens clothing is alive and well in Estes. This place reminds me of the hangouts our dad’s used to talk about. For years I’ve been coming to Estes for clothes and haircuts, both without equal anywhere in town. Nothing feels or wears as well as high quality clothing tailored to your unique measurements — I learned this a few years back and will never shop «off the rack» again. At Estes I get custom tailored suits, shirts, slacks, jackets, all at prices that are exceptionally reasonable; there are other places in town where you’ll pay twice as much for the same product, not to mention get high pressure sales — none of that at Estes. If you’re looking to add some serious style to your wardrobe, looking for that perfect fitting suit that will help you stand out among the hordes in mens wearhouse specials, looking to just get a great haircut in a relaxing hangout, swing by Estes, introduce yourself to Tony and the guys and relax. You will forever be thankful that you did.

I have a really beautiful black suit that Estes custom made for me. I selected the fabric from large selection in the store, and I picked the cut and features in my suit. The price is more than an off the rack suit but it is well worth it. The fit is perfect and my suit feels as comfortable as any of my casual clothes. I decided to go with a basic black suit and it is perfect for weddings, funerals, and any other special occasion. I can wear just the slacks if I don’t need to have a full suit on, and I can wear just the jacket with a nice shirt and jeans. If you are buying your first tailor made suit, I suggest the basic black option for its versatility. I also have a handful of tailor made shirts from Estes. Again, the fit is perfect. Whenever I wear any of my Estes attire, I receive lots of compliments. If you select classic styled items that are not necessarily following the current trends, you can enjoy your clothes for years which makes even pricier items a great value.
