Optik PDX is a modern boutique eye clinic with everything you need to keep your eyes happy, healthy and stylish. We provide Portland with handcrafted eyewear and personalized eyecare. At Optik PDX, you’ll receive individualized care from the optometrist Dr. Ezra Atikune and your two personal optical stylists, Jessica Ra and Crystal. Dr. Ezra practices with the latest medical eye equipment and knowledge to provide a thorough vision exam and ocular health evaluation, while your opticians work to fit you into the perfect pair of glasses that will frame your face like a priceless piece of art.

We advocate green ecology by doing business in a LEED Gold certified space and using reclaimed and recycled materials within our office. We used locally reclaimed Douglas Fir for our display cabinets, storage cabinets, countertops and trimwork. The carpet is made with 100% recycled plastic and rubber. We used no VOC Miller paint on our walls.

Business Owner

Dr. Ezra Atikune graduated in 1998 from the Illinois College of Optometry with distinctions in advanced ophthalmic care. While in Chicago, he co-​founded a private optometry practice and optical boutique. Despite the wonders of the Windy City, he and his wife realized they needed a place that offered a balance of nature, city-​life and play. So they packed up their dog and 2 cats and journeyed out to the great Pacific Northwest. After 2 years of playing (e.g. hiking, biking, camping etc.) in Oregon, Dr. Ezra and his family are thrilled to make roots in Portland and opened Optik PDX in the summer of 2011. Dr. Ezra is dedicated to his patients and works diligently to provide the best patient/​customer experience possible.

I have been going to get my eyes checked for classes for almost 20 years. To various doctors and locations and different cities. This by far, is the best.
I worked with both Dr. Ezra and Dr. Karen and they were great! Both told me things about my dry eyes that I have never known or been told before. They were very thorough when checking and rechecking components in my exam and my eye health.
The three ladies in the front I worked with were fabulous. They were so helpful and patient when helping me pick new frames and helping me figure out the best way to save the most money with my insurance!
Optik PDX has a moderately sized selection of glasses for you to choose from, all very Portland. Some of the frames are even made by them! How cool! The coolest I thought were 3D printed, I wanted a pair for myself, but they didn’t have any that were small enough for my face.
Prices are about average for the exams so that compares. They do have you get the more expensive frames with scratch resistance and a few other things. The prescription is put in digitally? That part was a little confusing but I do like how these are made, I can see a whole lot better with these than traditional lenses (and no, it’s not because I have a different prescription!)
Overall, I can’t wait to go back for my exam next year. Thank you!

Dr. Ezra and his lovely staff rocks! First off, I will say I’ve had chronic eye pain for over a decade! A trip to the ophthalmologist, then a neurologist, an MRI, and a few medical bills later and was told I have headaches, and that there’s not much hope for me.
Fast forward to Optik PDX who saw me after I scheduled same-​day, was greeted by friendly staff, and they even billed my insurance! Dr. Ezra was concerned, listened to my concerns, and empathized with my DAILY pains. He found a few things to concern about and I felt confident in his diagnosis after performing various tests.
As someone who works in the medical field, he’s the quintessential provider. He performed tests on me and got to the bottom line. I was assisted by wonderful staff to help me pick out my eyewear (I’ve never worn glasses so they handled this lowly novice with care!). Hannah was awesome at helping me find the right pair that I’ve been complimented for time and time again! She was sweet and knowledgable.
I’ve referred multiple people to their office, and will continue to visit, myself!

When I walked in I was immediately greeted by Laura (I think!) and she instantly helped me find the right frame for my face. Jessica came over later and helped me pick the final pair, which wasn’t something I would have picked for myself and I couldn’t be more happy! I thought I was going to go in and fend for myself but they were so kind and give each customer lots of attention. Great selection of unique styles too!

I LOVE this place! Dr. Ezra and his team are fantastic– friendly, thourough, knowledgeable, kind! I tell everyone about them because they totally understand customer service as well as give outstanding care! They seamlessly handle scheduling and insurance billing and help me submit my FSA. I wear contacts so I don’t utilize the beautiful selection of glasses here… but holy moly they have a gorgeous selection of unique frames! Thanks for your great service optik pdx!

Who ever thought an eye exam could be so pleasant?! Today was the first time I’ve been to Optik and I can’t wait to return. Dr Ezra and his staff were so friendly and knowledgeable and helped me a lot. They made me feel so comfortable, offered refreshments and helped me figure out my insurance (new to the city)

Optik PDX is awesome. I have received above and beyond service from them since I had an exam and bought my first pair glasses from them a few years ago. They have expedited a replacement pair for me. I have dropped in without an appointment a couple of times for adjustments which they have done free of charge immediately. Great products and service offered by great people. I drive from Eugene to Portland to do business with them.

Very comprehensive exam. Bit odd of a place, but then again I’m not to trendy or much of a hipster. Doctor was very good. My only complaint was something I’ve seen mentioned on here before. Your going to pay a pretty penny for the frames here. There are some very nice frames here, but not once was any budget friendly ideas put forth. Granted I came here knowing there was going to be a premium choice and I’m quite happy with what I found. It was by no means cheap, even after my insurance which apparently is pretty good! Overall great experience, but you will pay for it.

Incredibly kind, quick and helpful customer service. I lost a screw on my sunglasses while eating brunch across the street. I popped into the shop hoping they could help. Within 3 minutes, my glasses were fixed and cleaned. All free of charge and they don’t even sell the brand of glasses I was wearing. If this is how they treat «non-​customers» during a free transaction, I can only imagine how great their services is if you are purchasing something.

We’re from Bemidji, MN the first city on the Mississippi and i wish we had establishment such as Optik PDX. Everyone is laid back and super friendly, helpful and kind. I wasn’t there to see Dr. Ezra but he made sure to come out and visit us multiple times and just talk about family and our vacation. Class act! Sarah, Hannah and Jessica are a perfect trio, making sure everyone feels welcome and that they get the right pair of frames. Make sure to stop in while you are visiting Mississippi Ave.

Wow! So impressed with this place! I was greeted at the door with a smile and they offered wine or beer — my kind of place. I had a great visit with Dr. Ezra and he was SO thorough. I learned things about my eyes I never knew. I then spent close to an hour with the two ladies up front, Optician Extraordinaires, who spent time helping me find the perfect frames. Literally the best eye appointment experience I’ve ever had — thank you!

Dr Ezra is very knowledgeable and really makes you feel comfortable with the eye exam. He did not rush through the exam and made sure all the different procedures were completed with utmost care and precision.
Jessica is also very friendly and really helps you understand the different insurance coverage options and co-​pay schemes.

We live in Seattle now, but I still go to Optik PDX in Portland. It’s worth the train trip and hotel stay to get the highest quality eye exam and service I’ve ever experienced. I cannot recommend Dr. Ezra and his staff highly enough.

I’ve received a lens and contact eye exam, contact training, correspondence emails about concerns I’ve had, and frame selection and Dr. Ezra has been polite, knowledgable, and extremely thorough in every interaction with a superb presentation of ethical, and not to mention, ecological values. He is the quintessential healthcare provider in an industry that is filled with entities and individuals that are increasing less than sub-​par.
Jessica is friendly and knowledgeable about everything from frames, to maintenance, to insurance. The store is immaculate and filled with culture and ambiance. I’m very happy with the service and support I receive there. They are wonderful!
P. S. If you’re concerned about the price… I would suggest being concerned about the quality of your vision and health and rest assured that you surely get what you pay for.

I took a ball to my eye in a street hockey game and my doctor said I needed to see a specialist fast as my cornea was severely scratched, eye was hurting every time I blinked, and my vision was blurry. While I was going down the list of referrals from my doctor and calling places, the other places told me they couldn’t see me for weeks. When I called Optik PDX and said how urgent I needed to see someone, Dr. Ezra Atikune made room for me with an appointment just a couple hours after I called. I was offered a choice of beverages when I arrived (and on my follow up visit). Easy location to get to and great atmosphere inside.
All the equipment is state of the art (or even futuristic). I had to come back the next day for him to check how my cornea was healing and for him to take out the contact lens he put in with the medicine… and he didn’t even charge me for a follow-​up visit. He genuinely cares about his patients — that is evident from the moment you meet him.
I highly recommend this place!
