Business Owner

Doug has over 35 years of experience in the general contracting & development field. He is also and expert in all phases of new home construction, remodeling, excavation, landscape construction and home and commercial project maintenance. In the last 15 years he has expanded his knowledge to include hardscape, drainage, retaining walls, water features and custom stone work. His experience and knowledge has made him a perfect fit at the head of the Prestige Design & General Contracting. He demands the best products installed by professionals with the proper training necessary to get the job done promptly and correctly.

Charlie Brown, Vice President of Prestige Design & General Contracting Inc, brings over 35 years of experience in custom high end home construction. Charlie’s knowledge and hands on building experience is passed on to our professional installers, when combined with his demand of high quality products, this leads to the kind of treatment your home deserves.

I gave my business to this company because a friend was trying to do them a favor, told me the guys are military and as my son is a Vet I prefer to support others as I would hope someone would support mine. Being a marine only goes so far though. From not showing up the first, second, third day and then sending out a crew who had no supplies and had to leave because literally they had no ability to do the job they where hired for, to now being over four months late finishing. I am unhappy. The company was hired to put in retaining walls with drains and they did not put in the drains. They did not put the retaining wall below the grade of the driveway, the stairs they made are dangerous and unfinished, there is an ongoing list. The workers did nothing to protect my new concrete and ruined it, cutting retaining wall blocks on the concrete and taking chunks out. They literally drug wheelbarrows full of stone over the concrete and gouged and stained it. Promises have been made to repair and finish the work but it has not been done. I cannot express my conviction that no one should use this company firmly enough.

Contracted to have my deck replaced in January — scheduled for install between February — March. After many calls to find out a start date — with no answers — demo started end of March. Install took 5 weeks for a job I was told would take 7 – 10 days. Materials delayed, workers didn’t show — extremely poor construction management. Of course, their hands were out wanting their payment the afternoon the deck was completed. Do not recommend — it’s just not worth the headaches. Many other great contractors out there who will charge 2⁄3 the cost. Learn from my mistake!!!

Horrible Contractor!!! No communication, employees quit all the time, Took my money and sat on it for 3 months. Didn’t even start the project. Finally asked for my money back and what was going on. They said they didn’t know? Said they could give me a refund check the next week. I received the check and it bounced. Non Sufficient Funds!!! What a joke. I finally received a cashiers check 3 months from the initial bid. This place should not be in business.
Plenty of other contractors. DON’T DO IT.

Upon reading the other reviews, my experience does not come as a surprise. I set up a bid appointment at a Home Show the previous weekend. I had received calls from the business (after they finally left a voicemail identifying themselves), confirming the appointment time. I had called back to inform them I would be there, and spoke to a person who said she would pass the message along.
I have been traveling for the past 3 days, and put my morning plans on halt to ensure I was present for this appointment time. 5 minutes passed, 10, 15, then 30 minutes later no show, no call, no contact. I am completely and utterly enraged. As a manager of a multi million dollar business, and the owner of another business, if this was MY company, I would be appalled and embarrassed. I guess I am counting my blessings that it was prevailed before I released my back yard over into their hands. Yikes.

I wish i would have done some research on this company before hiring them. All the reviews i am now reading is pretty accurate to what im now experiencing. Quote more than double what i now learn it shouldve been. Communication is terrible. I have many reasons why. Quality of work was not good and not as designed so they sent yet another sub (different than first sub) to re-​do some of the work BUT project is still not complete and debris left all over my property still. ZERO communication and a Very unhappy client. I was told project would be done by Saturday which was not and now its six (so far) Saturdays later and still Not done.

We had an appointment scheduled with them for weeks. 10 minutes before our appointment a rep from the company calls and says the ONLY person who can give us an estimate for our residential patio project was stuck in «a very important meeting in downtown PDX» (we live in Beaverton) and wouldn’t be there. I took time off from work and had to drive 30 minutes to get there for the appointment.
I find it highly unprofessional to call 10 minutes before a scheduled appointment to notify the consumer they won’t be there. The person who called was less than apologetic and didn’t seem the least bit concerned I was a bit put off by the late notification. Apparently Prestige has plenty of business that is more important than mine so I’ll take my business elsewhere. I wouldn’t waste my time with this company if you are looking for a professional job with an organization who appreciates and respects customers. There are way too many good, reliable, honest companies out there who do a good job without the grief from these people.

We signed up for an estimate with Prestige at the Home Show in Portland. About a week or so later Jamie, came out and did a bid on our yard which included a fence, paved deck, driveway and shed. We asked if they could provide references and Jamie said sure, he would email us that following Monday. I called on Tuesday and left a message for him and also asked if they could pass on that we wanted pricing for a change to our bid as well. No call back. Called again. No call back. Now onto week two, still nothing. So let me get this straight, you want me to put down over $ 20k on a company who can’t even respond to phone calls? NOPE!

Poor quality work, terrible customer service, no communication.
Prestige did some repair work on my property (poor work originally completed by Alpine Outdoor Living Solutions, Kevin Sipe’s company). They just showed up one day with no notice (I was out of town), the work was done carelessly and did not look good. I had to go through mediation with Construction Contractor’s Board. The entire project created a headache for more than a year. I felt totally taken advantage of the entire time. I strongly suggest Lewis Landscape.

Similar to all the reviews… this company doesn’t follow-​through AT ALL… cancellation upon cancellation. We got a bid, were prepared to sign a contract and the person cancelled twice. It’s been a week and still no call to reschedule. Guess they don’t want the business… when they knock on your door — DON’T ANSWER!

A salesperson knocked on my door and set up an appointment for a design consultant to give me some ideas of how to fence our yard. I wasn’t sure about how the time would work for my husband, but I was told someone would call in the next hour or so to confirm the time as well as 2 days before the appointment — and I could make a change at either of those points. The time did not work, but no one called to confirm the appointment at either of the times I was told they would. I left a message first thing in the morning the day before the appointment, saying that I wanted to reschedule. I did not hear anything back. So I called again, the morning of the appointment, out of courtesy since I didn’t want someone to come all the way out and I couldn’t be sure they got my message. The scheduler was very condescending — acted like I was bothering her since she had already gotten my message, and then would not reschedule the appointment until she got answers to questions about how much I thought the job would cost, what materials we wanted to use, etc. That’s what the design consultant appointment is supposed to be for, right — to make a recommendation on what would work best for our situation and tell us how much it will cost? I cancelled the appointment outright and did not reschedule.

They knocked on my door in March and set up an appointment to do our decks, and walls. Told them I wanted the estimate emailed to me. It took them a month to get back to me and still haven’t received the estimate. If it takes them this long to do that simple task, imagine how long it would take them to actually finish the work in my home!

We replaced our old deck with paving stones on our back yard and entry way. This company was excellent for both completing the job on time and cleaning up. Everything went exactly the way they have explained to me, and I am very happy that they are offering a life time warranty for free on their job !
