Robert Vachon Moving Service

Did not show for the «consult» appointment we had set up. Didn’t answer my phone calls asking where he was. Called me back 15 min after our appointment time with some story about how he had work going at his own home and that he wanted to come earlier. It is true he had blown up my phone via phone call and text an hour earlier. I had already told him I had a class and could not meet until our appointment time. He proceeded to tell me the visit «wasn’t necessary anyway» and that he «saw what was needed» and that he «thinks [his] truck could fit». Without seeing my place, he told me I would need 3 men. The reason for the visit for me was to give me an estimate, so I know I wasn’t getting overcharged by having several men show up. Mind you, I have a 700 square foot studio with 6 pieces of furniture and small storage unit of boxes. He told me he would come right then to do the consult and then called back right away to question why I said I didn’t want to spend a bunch of money; he told me he didn’t want to waste a visit to my place. I told him I didn’t want to spend several hundreds of dollars and he laughed. I referenced my last moving bill and explained that I now have less furniture and that I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t getting charged some 800 dollars with 3 men around when I don’t have that much stuff. He tried to make it seem like a 7^th floor condo with exclusive elevator access and a small storage unit also with elevator access was a BIG deal and would make the job tough. [I laughed inside at that point!] Anyway, we agreed on a fee range and then he proceeded to schedule 8:30am time on my move date. I told him I needed something in the late morning or afternoon. He then told me he was going to pass on my job; that it was just «too much». Wow — UNPROFESSIONAL, DISRESPECTFUL and RUDE. If you’re okay with someone who’s unaccommodating, may or may not show up, and potentially overcharges you by bringing more men than needed for a job… then great. Otherwise, I’d avoid this guy.

My review is to the point. Robert has moved me for the third time here in Portland. It is possible that I make sure a company/​service is truly worthy of 5 stars before I send it out to the nether sphere. First move; 5 stars. Second move; 5 stars. Third move 5+ stars. He is on time, really kind with both belongings and client too! Also, he’ll most likely make you laugh, which I always appreciate. His employee Sam was with him this last move. He may be related as he exhibits the same qualities as Robert Vachon…

I’m biased because I know Robert personally… However, I used Robert’s moving services a couple of years ago. They did an EXCELLENT job!
