Casper Screens

I finally gave in after the summer of En Fuego here in San Diego and was recommended to Casper screens.
I called a few other competitors but after looking at the reviews, comparing prices and getting an overall better comfort level when talking to Casper, I went for it.
I had two screen doors installed, one single panel front door and a double door to my back yard. Two technicians arrived who were very fast, very nice and were in and out quickly.
They were very helpful in helping me choose the best screen for my application and also the trim that would look best on my house, I used the bronze in the front which matched my front door and white at the rear doors which matched those doors. This made it so you really don’t see there is a screen installed.
The only thing you need to be aware of is that the screens blend in so well and so clear that sometimes someone can walk through it but fortunately the screens are built tough and it doesn’t hurt the screen, just startles the person who walked through it and makes me laugh…
Bottom line if you are trying to decide on these screens it is a no brainer, they are a great value and a good company that seems to stand behind their product.

I’ve been living in my condo for 7 years and always had an issue with mosquitos in the summer. I’ve just lived with keeping my doors closed at all times, even during the hot summers because I’m highly allergic to mosquito bites. (If you’ve seen the movie Hitch, that’s almost how bad I can blow up after one mosquito bite). I’ve tried the screens I saw on the infomercials, but those looked ugly and would always fall down. Eventually, I gave up.
One day I randomly Googled retractable screen doors and found Casper screens. I fell in love when I saw the video and made an appt immediately! Rose scheduled me right away. I live in San Francisco and although they are in San Diego, they have installers in many areas so it was pretty easy. My rep came out (I believe her name was Evie). She was so nice and accommodating and got everything done in an hour.
The end result was actually better than I thought it’d look. The housing is pretty clean looking and flush against the wall. I like that it’s white, not black, but the strip on the bottom is black, which is good due to dirt that’ll accumulate. It doesn’t slide super smoothly, but it does the job. It looks pretty. So far, I’m happy with this purchase. As soon as Evie left, I decided I had to write this review. I plan to tell all my neighbors as I think they would really like this product too. What’s good about it is since we live in a condo, there are very strict rules and regulations, which is why I haven’t been able to install a screen door on the outside, but this fit perfectly inside the door and did not take away from the interior of the house.
I must admit, I was extremely nervous about this purchase because some of the reviews, but I’m glad I didn’t listen to them. I had a good experience and I’m pretty hard to please. It really helps that there’s a lifetime warranty on the housing so I feel much better and the screen is 3 years warranty. Overall, I do recommend! Thank you, Casper Screens! I hope this products lasts a long time and I’m excited to refer more people to you!

I had a rolling screen installed which, several months later, was not retracting properly. A few months before the warranty expired, I called the company requesting that someone come out and look at it. They said the dealer who installed my door no longer works in my area and that they would get back to me once they had someone in my area. Long story short, over a period of a few months, I had made numerous calls to the company, each time hearing different excuses from different people as to why they were not sending someone over. Then, a few postponed appointments later, they finally sent someone. They told me there would be a service charge, which I was not about to pay. Upon inspecting the screen, the technician said it needed a larger spring, and admitted that the spring on my door was inadequate. He told me about the charge, which I debated. He had me call the office and they still insisted on charging me. The technician then got on the phone with the company. He came back to me saying he would replace the spring at his own expense.
Horrrible customer service on all levels! Based on my experience, I do not recommend Casper. As with some companies, once they get your money, it’s like pulling teeth to honor their warranty. I feel bad for the technician who agreed to fix the screen and pay for it himself.

Still no refund or closure. I have now contacted the BBB in San Diego. The Home Magazine they advertise in and filed reports. Next stop contractors license board!!!

I have had this type of screen before and knew that I wanted another. The transaction should have been simple.
However, the problem started when the senior member of the team that came to my home announced that he was leaving as soon as the sale was made. He left a technician to do the job who had only been with the company for a week, and this was his first job to do on his own. When I nervously asked if the senior technician would stay, he said that he had another job and that there «should» not be any problem. In hindsight, I should have refused to be the first customer that the barely trained technician would service, but I decided to trust that they would not leave someone to do the job who was incapable.
The technician did a bit of tinkering and then disappeared into his truck for over an hour. I considered this a bad sign. Eventually, he returned with another man, who arrived on the job with no explanation as to his presence. I pressed as to who he was and why someone else had come to the job, and finally was told that he was the owner. Obviously, he had come to assist because the untrained technician could not do the job. Although this job had gone on for such a long time, the owner still used this as a training project, showing the technician his mistakes and instructing him, rather than simply getting the job done.
I examined the progress and commented that the doors did not meet at the top or the bottom and that the screen was very loose and uneven. The owner argued with me that this is the best that one can get with disappearing screens, that they are never tight and that the openings at the top and bottom were not large enough for insects to get in. I said that I was not satisfied and that this was a bad job, probably the result of much of it being done by an inadequately trained technician.
The owner removed the screens and prepared to leave. I explained that he should really not use new technicians on a job who were not prepared, and that this should at least be disclosed to the customer. I was speaking in a calm voice, but providing this feedback that he needed, and that hopefully he would listen to me so that others did not get bad product or waste three hours of their day.
At this point, the owner of this company called me names and used profanity. I quickly closed the door and locked it. At that point, he picked up his ladder and swung it at my door, the end of the ladder smashing into my glass door. Fortunately, the glass did not break, and I was safely inside. I advise everyone against using this company because of incompetent untrained technicians and because these people engage in violent tirades.

Years ago, we initially purchased a disappearing screen door from «Reel Screens» and was very happy with the product. Since then Kevin and his team at Casper has purchased the company and came out with what appears to be a much better product…
Back to my story: When our screen material wore out Kevin gave us a fair price and upgraded us to the new model and removed the old door. His team was great and even came back a few times to tweak it a little free of charge!
It is nice dealing with small companies and getting to deal directly with the owner.

Kevin installed our pass-​through window screen. He was very nice and it looks perfect!

Have had one of their screens for years. Loved it so I recommended them to my parents. They recently installed 2 for my parents. Love how easy the screens work, even for my young kids. SO much better than the old fashioned screen doors. Installation was easy to schedule and they installed them in no time.
After 6+ years, one of the screens wasn’t retracting all the way (and we broke one of the handles). Gave them a call and they were here within a few days to tune up the screen and replace the handle. Great customer service and the owner makes sure things are done right the first time.

We had our screens installed a few years ago. They work great and I am happy we have them. They are easy to use, durable and a great to save money from turning on the AC on a hot day. In seconds a nice breeze goes through our house without opening up a bunch of windows. They are so great we had 2 more installed upstairs recently (4 total). Kevin and his crew are very professional and made sure I was satisfied with the installation. If you are considering screens, give them a call!

We love Casper Screens at our house! Perfect for our outdoor patios so we can let the fresh air in while keeping the bugs out. The owner Kevin Boyd is fabulous to work with and he promptly addressed all of our needs and made the screens work perfectly for our home. 5 stars for the product and 5 more for excellent customer service.

We’ve had our Casper screens for several years now and they are holding up well especially with kids and dogs running into them periodically. Good investment to keep bugs out and provide sun shade while letting in the wonderful SoCal breeze. Also helps cool the house in the summer cheaper than AC. This company and their owners are very reputable and are laser focused on high quality product and customer service. Highly recommend giving them a call

Have had double entry screen doors by Casper for several years and have been very satisfied. We have dogs, and like the convenience of the center lock. Highly recommend these screens for the durability and attractive appearance.

We’ve been wanting retractable screens for some time now. Had 3 different companies out to give quotes and give demos of their products. We liked Casper Screens the best as it looks the best and seems to function better than the rest. Lots of really nice features separating Casper from the competitors. To top it off, they have the best price.

Just had my 2 screen doors installed and they look and feel great! Robby did a great job installing. Love the extra view on my slider as you can’t see the hidden screen when it’s closed. Great concept and I recommend this to anyone!

We originally had a disappearing screen installed by another company, however after a few years it needed some repairs. We called Casper Screens who did these repairs. Fast forward a few years and we started to have a few issues with the screen. I called their office and the owner, Kevin promptly returned my call and personally came out to my home within 45 minutes of the call to make the repairs.
After finding my original receipt, I discovered we were technically a little bit past our warranty date, yet Kevin wanted to make it right. I can tell he takes a lot of pride in his company and showed a lot of integrity by coming out so quickly and taking care of it.
Yes, this is my very first 5 star Unilocal review because I feel that Kevin and Casper Screens deserve it after my experience today. I now have a fully-​functioning, disappearing screen door and am a very satisfied customer!

What great customer service! The owner and installation team are top notch. We were able to get appointment quickly and the owner of this screen business came out personally and met with us about our doors and possible screens and helped determine the best screens for our house.
The installation team was totally professional and did a fantastic job! We even had to have them back to do a repair of a screen that my mother-​in-​law had accidentally walked through. Fixed like brand new and done in a timely manner. :-)
We absolutely love all our screens and have used them daily especially on our French doors leading outside to our backyard! Which is great while kids playing outside and we can hear them! This product is fantastic. I completely recommend this business and these screens!

I love my Casper screen door! From the time I first contacted their company until after my door was installed I had fantastic customer service. They were able to accommodate me and came out within a few days of when I called them. They were extremely knowledgeable about their product (they’ve been around for years!), and the installer was patient and able to thoroughly answer all my questions. They were even able to install my screen the very same day!
The door is terrific! It keeps out the bugs and doesn’t interfere with my view when I am not using the screen, and it retracts very smoothly and quietly.
I highly recommend getting a screen from Casper! All around great product and customer service.

As the other reviewer mentioned in his first review. Not good to deal with.
We had them do screens all down our neighborhood and gave them maybe 5 – 7 houses of work but we have some problems with our screens and after 3 phone calls since JUNE (its now almost OCT) i cant get them to call me back.
1. they installed the wrong color handles and didnt point this out to us when they finished but they knew they had the wrong color as they had run out. Why didnt they tell me that when i signed up and then sneak out hoping we wouldnt notice they didnt match? Thats OK i called and they said they would replace them when they came in.
No call back. Called them back and said they wont have them in until maybe August. NO call back. I call them… mid august. Leave a message office closes before 4pm i assume… No return call.
Wait another month call again. VM no call back.
Get a hold of them this week end of September almost 4 months since installation and the woman who does the phones says they still dont have the handles and dont know when they will… But this time i need adjustments… she says she will see when they have tech and call me back that day… OF COURSE 2 days later no call back… I even had her promise not to forget since they have a poor history with this…
no call backs ever Not one after all my attempts to contact them… 4 months still the wrong color handles and now i fear they wont come back to adjust the screens. One is crooked and doesnt close properly and has a gap. another has the plastic bending where it keeps it in place for double french doors. After only 2 months this happened… usually no bid deal but when they dont call you back…
so far i love the idea of the screens but F for the company and their response. i dont think a call back, update or actual fix is too much to ask for after being patient for 4 months.
