My wife and I went into the daily grind for a quick cup of coffee on a casual Monday afternoon. We have both have several years of coffee experience and we enjoy getting coffee with friends. We knew that their coffee quality wasn’t as good as the other shops around Pullman, but we were meeting some friends who wanted to meet there, so we agreed. It’s a pretty cute atmosphere; well decorated and plenty of seating! Good space for studying. Knowing that the coffee could be sub-par, we ordered sweeter drinks(white mocha and a mocha). Well, we were still very disappointed. Both of the drinks were just plain gross. The shots were horribly bitter and the milk tastes like someone had just microwaved it. No froth whatsoever. My wife’s white mocha was so bad that I took it back and asked for it to be remade. The second one was slightly better, but not even close to the quality we are used to. The reason I gave it two stars is because they did agree to replace the bad drink free of charge. The service was only alright. The gal that took our order was very ill(coughing and sneezing constantly with no voice left), which was a bit concerning. The pastries I’ve heard are pretty good, but I have only tried the cinnamon roll, which was pretty dry and mediocre. With better shops in town(Roost and Zoe), we won’t be returning the daily grind. There are many better options for coffee in Pullman! Do yourself a favor and walk a little further down the street to Roost!

I’ve been going to the Daily Grind since 2005. Coffee has been consistent throughout, so no comment from me there. This review is specifically for the food I purchased recently. I ordered a breakfast burrito and it was huge! Much larger than the breakfast burritos served under previous ownership, and for only ~ $ 5.50. However, my burrito was sooo salty. I couldn’t even finish half before it become inedible due to the salt. No amount of guacamole or salsa could cut through it. Maybe just a one time thing, but I would recommend reevaluating the recipes if they’re consistently this salty.

Worst service of all coffee shops on the Palouse. The baristas can be quite unfriendly, especially the middle aged woman(owner?) who snapped at me for asking if the drink on the counter was an americano. Also, if you order a lunch item, be sure you have time to wait 30+ minutes for it to come out. Nope, they don’t tell you ahead of time if there’s a wait due to high order volume. They just greedily take your money. The stands around town are just as bad. Three times I have been given the wrong drink order. Not drinks that were even similar to mine but completely different drinks. Daily Grind needs to get themselves together, I won’t be back.

Love this place. Staff is really friendly and it’s a great place to study! They need to figure out their wifi though, I have had issues with it and so have my friends. It was even so frustrating for some people I know that they ended up leaving :(maybe it is just us but it would be great if there wasn’t as many issues with it

Though others have complained about the prices here, I never noticed. It seems they are the same price as Starbucks & it is great to support a local business. We have lived here for over four years and I never knew they had an outdoor courtyard until last month… I guess I have been in my «own world» as a graduate student. Anyway, we have been going here a few times a week lately and REALLY enjoy the ambiance. We notice that many graduate students are studying there(probably for prelims-sorry guys) & it is mostly quiet. The outdoor courtyard is great for a small group of friends & they have some small electric lanterns that you can move to tables after it gets dark. This is just a really cool place to hang out… especially when you need to get away from small, shared graduate student offices. Though undergraduate students also come in, it is never noisy.

First off, one of the few places open on memorial day here which was cool. Friendly staff who enjoy their jobs. Very quiet with ample amounts of seating. There were some soft chairs and plenty of room for studying. The Wi-Fi wasn’t the greatest for a coffee shop/ice cream parlor, but you can’t expect much in a small town like Pullman. Decent number of ice cream flavors to choose from. Only downsides from this place that kept it from five stars were: it was kind of pricey for ice cream($ 8 for two one scoop servings, one in a waffle cone) and the sofa chairs we’re really close to the kitchen cooking area so when I left my clothes smelled like fried foods(though no one forced me to sit there, it was the only place with soft seats). I don’t know how it compares to Ferdinand’s, but this place was actually open and I would probably go back if I were ever in town again.

My sister and I just had our first lunch at Daily Grind on Main Street. This is the 1st time I’ve eaten here since they retooled the Licks ice cream shop into a much more sensible sandwich and Soup shop. We shared a fig and prosciutto panini and a blueberry balsamic grilled cheese. Both were very tasty but the prosciutto/fig is over the top! There are so many different new things to try that I feel like it will be a long time before I have lunch anywhere else. Of course they still have the incredible coffee and have moved the ice cream and candy side of the business into the other side of the house so you can still get all of your favorites. I recommend that you give Daily Grind a try for lunch or coffee or both! They are doing some creative and exciting things here in our little town.

I finally got fed up with the bad coffee, inconsistent and sometimes rather precious staff. I’m done. Threw away my punch card. Done. One bad latte after another. The base, the coffee is either as weak as possible or tastes burnt. Ugh. Pass.

Yummy soy lattes. Delicious tea selection. Artsy, colorful, and fun café in downtown Pullman. Welcoming and friendly staff. Espresso beans are tasty. Great place to study or catch up with a friend. Licks is next door if you have an ice cream craving.

This place is great! It’s a local coffee shop on one of the main streets that has everything to offer. There’s coffee, food, and even a flower shop. The storefront looks small, but the inside extends and offers different lounge environments, including a fireplace and meeting area. The icing on the cake: the Ghirardelli mocha and hot cocoa. This is a place to hit, whether it’s to study or for a light lunch.

Like the downtown spot for studying, but the«coffee» at the drive-thru locations has been consistently disappointing. Got an iced coffee today, and tasted like sweetened milk. Couldn’t taste the coffee at all. Perhaps this is an indication that I have an unhealthy chemical dependence, but it was pretty upsetting. Threw it out the window. Just kidding, I’m an environmentalist, but the urge was strong.

One of the older coffee shops in town, and it has a great old-country feel. Its a renovated space and has a lot of the original brick and wood floors exposed. Coffee has gotten better with recent new ownership, especially the espresso, and is always pretty consistent and speedy. I have not tried the food since I usually I grab some coffee, sit down and work :) There is TONS of space in DG too, even a quiet room/meeting room, two different areas for general seating, an area with a fireplace with cozy chairs and a couch, etc. This is a unique space and they have done a lot to improve it. Overall one of my favorite places in town.

Great local spot! There coffee is pretty good and they do have some good breakfast options.(see my photo I uploaded) The BF and I had breakfast burrito’s this morning. He had something with meat in it as usual. I went for the veggie option to be a little healthier. This burritos though are HUGE — ladies, if you are not super hunger you can DEFINITELY share them. I unfortunately could only eat half and threw the rest away. It was really good I was just to stuffed. This place gets pretty busy and they only have a couple people working so don’t come here if you are in a rush, that is what there coffee stands around town are for. Lots of great places to sit which was nice since I need to get some work done and respond to some emails. During the weekdays you can expect this place to be busy with college students that’s for sure. They do a lot of business here.

The coffee is decent, but it’s their food that’s noteworthy. Love their breakfast burritos… though for reasons I can’t explain, they put their toasted ham and swiss on raisin bread(and don’t tell you). Their pricing is very affordable too. This is a great place to go to study. There’s plenty of space, free wifi, and the rest of the customers are generally respectful that folks came here to study in peace and quiet. Highly recommend if you’re looking for somewhere to prepare for exams and grab a bite to eat at the same time.

The regular coffee here is good, although I can’t speak to mochas/frappes/lattes. When I go to the Daily Grind, I’m usually there for the long haul because studying in my apartment has become unbearable. Pros: Regular Drip Coffee gets unlimited refills. Lots of places to sit, including a quiet room. Places to plug in your laptop along each wall table. Free wi-fi(although often slow) Cons: Unlimited refills on coffee. The goddawful music they play over the speakers sometimes. The service can be absurdly slow sometimes. Listening to random private conversations about a) things that happened last night b) someone’s girlfriend/boyfriend c) if it could be on TFLN, you’ll eventually overhear it here. Overall, it’s a decent place to study if you know going in that some people are going to be noisy. The food is typical of a coffee shop. Which is to say, not amazing, but decent enough when you’re studying and don’t want to leave.

So conflicted giving this review! On one hand, I love the exposed brick and character of this location, enjoy the long bar with delicious baked goods flanking the register — relish in the wi-fi goodness and copious seating space… .yet, balk at the incosistent delivery of beverages. For the hot drinks, I never had any issue, and in fact, really came to enjoy and appreciate — especially with the added touch of the cute chocolate-covered espresso bean on top. But the cold drinks — this is a very different story. I recall an incident in which I ordered a vanilla latte — and, no kidding, it was some kind of mix just poured from a pitcher, over ice, and there you go… then, the drink sat there on the counter, whilst everyone else had theirs called, I had to ask if that was mine… this inquiry was met by a blank stare. Oh gee. I’d understand if it was one of their frozen drinks or something, that needed a base, but a latte? Another time, the caramel latte was prepared the ‘standard’ way of espresso topped with milk — good. But when I popped in the straw and took a sip… BLECH! I had to take it back, and I hate to be ‘that person’ to take it back, but coffeehouse prices + yuck product = something needs to be said!
