Prem Construction and Lansdscape

NEVER AGAIN. I had used Prem 10 years ago and the work was excellent. Don’t know what happened in the 10 years later, but the work was TERRIBLE. He advertises that he works with concrete, but his workers do not. They did a pathway in mortar and it was excellent, but when I told them the rest of the work would have to be done in concrete, they were very sloppy. I honestly do not believe this crew knows how to work with concrete. They totally ruined the redo of my paver patio. I had them use the red pavers I had and when they were done, there is now barely any red in the pavers and the seams around the pavers are smeared making the patio look like a totally unprofessional, smeared mess. I asked them to use concrete colored a dark brown around some other pavers — when wet the concrete looks a little dark, but when dry, it looks like grey. Other than the mortared walkway done on the first day, the rest of the work was done cheaply, quickly and poorly. Prem told me it would take 5 days with 3 men working and the price he quoted me was for that amount of time. No way — for 2 days, 2 men worked and on the 3^rd day 3 men worked. I kept saying to the men, SLOW DOWN. I didn’t like how fast they were working and how sloppy. Also, other than appearing 2 times, the men were without supervison and direction — I had to tell them what needed to be done. I had to be there the whole time to prevent worse disasters. DEFINITELY DON’T USE HIM.

We used prem to lay a large concrete patio.
Good things: prem is very accommodating, his prices are good, he was able to match the color and stamp of our existing concrete, his workers were very hard workers, did not nickel and dime us, we like the finished product.
Bad: you need to be there throughout the entire process! What we told Prem, was not always told to his workers. Had we not been there, things would not have been done right. They are not detail oriented! The finished product depends on the little things they do or don’t do. Example: we have drains in concrete, they left concrete all over the grate without cleaning them. When they sealed it, Prem promised they would make sure it was clean because we couldn’t be there… they sealed over dirt and bird poop… really?
Not saying don’t use him, just be there at all times.

This is the second time that I’ve used Prem for a landscape project. I honestly don’t know why I bother to get other quotes because he always comes in the lowest! He gives his quote on the spot and is willing to work with you on staging the project if you can’t afford all of the project at once. He made some good suggestions which I incorporated into the design. My project took 2 ½ days. Every morning his workers arrived bright & early at 7:30, followed shortly the thereafter by Prem. They worked fast and efficiently, cleaning up at the end of every day. Scope of my project: 40 foot tree removal and stump grinding, removal of sod, installation of 50 ft flat mow strip for center planter, installation of 7 cubic yards of 4″ river rock. He also converted all my planters to drip system. We’re going for a drought tolerant landscape. I will be bringing him back to expand my driveway since I know that he does excellent concrete work based on my previous experience with him.
