Specialties
We consider Grapeseed to be a true «American» restaurant that offers many different cooking traditions by interpreting them with our unique creative vision. We are a passionate group of restaurant personalities who are dedicated to providing you with a wonderful experience.
History
Established in 2014.
Grapeseed offers modern American cuisine and warm hospitality in a rustic, historically preserved building. The tin ceiling in the bar and maple wood floor represent the original space. The bar, our tables, and the banquette seating are from repurposed wood that was removed during renovations.
We purchase top quality seasonal ingredients, from local farms featuring organic products and sustainable production. We seek out the best artisanal producers when purchasing wine, beer, cheese and many other ingredients. Our menu changes frequently reflecting a mix of new and signature dishes. We prep on a daily basis from the fresh ingredients of the season. Each dish served is made from scratch and cooked to order.
Meet the Business Owner
Ben A.
Business Owner
Ben Anderson began bussing tables in high school and gained experience in kitchens of local restaurants including Cardwell’s at the Plaza and Chase Park Plaza. After graduating from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY he became the Chef/Owner of Canoe Regional American Fare in St. Charles, MO, dedicated to traditional American fare with a contemporary flair. Canoe was recognized as one of the top five new restaurants to open in the St. louis metro area the year it opened. After a brief stint in sales with a food distributor he returned to the front lines and opened Gist Bistro located in a leased space in Manchester, MO. After several months plans ensued for a more permanent home. Ben Anderson purchased the 100 year old building located at the corner of Macklind and Nottingham ave in the SoHa neighborhood of South City, St.Louis. He undertook what would be a year project to renovate and repurpose the property making way for Grapeseed in September of 2014.
