Air Plus Heating Cooling & Solar

Been using this company for a few years to maintain my Trane systems. They have been Trane certified for many years. I have found them to be very price competitive with other HVAC companies. The best aspect of their service is that when they come out for a service call they perform the requested service. This is in stark contrast to other companies that use the service call as a chance to «up sale» things you have no interest in. As a consumer I appreciate the service call being exactly that (while utilizing certified personnel) and not a new sales pitch for unwanted goods/​services.

We had a Trane 18 SEER A/​C unit added to our Trane furnace. Great experience from beginning to end. Fair price, great service and quality result.

We put in a ductless unit in our condo. Ed was the installer and he was great. Clean, efficient and professional. Unit is great!

We recently moved and wanted to replace our 30 year old heater and the air as well. Many of our neighbors said they used Air Plus and gave glowing reviews. We have to agree. Jim, Kim and Rhonda guided us through the process and they were wonderful. Top notch from beginning to end.

I only have a few words for this company. Honest and reliable. Will use them again. I have a tenant who is always staying on top of things and was worried that the heater was not venting well and Air Plus came out and said everything was working just fine. Thank you Air Plus.

Air Plus came out on the day of installment at the precise time promised. They were courteous and clean. Laid down floor pads and put plastic up in master closet. They even vacuumed up the floors after installing the wall vents. Thanks for a wonderful job.

Air Plus made the whole process of replacing my furnace and air conditioner pleasant and easy. While I received estimates from four different HVAC firms going into this project, I chose Air Plus because Kim was very thorough and uncovered the fact that my duct work in the attic needed to be addressed. All the crew members were very knowledgeable and polite and made an otherwise intrusive project more tolerable. I’m very happy with the Trane equipment. Both the new furnace and A/​C are much more quite and the house seems to be heating and cooling quicker. I’m currently waiting for the call back to schedule the appointments with the inspectors but trust all will be in order.

Andrew was very courteous and professional. He did the annual check-​up for my heater and air conditioning units. I had not realized how noisy the heater had gotten until after he left and how quiet it now was. He discovered that the a/​c had a bad valve and ordered the part. Rhonda called the next day to schedule an appt to install the new valve. Efficient, effective and PROFESSIONAL as always. Thank you very much, AIr Plus!

My heater just stop working last night in such a cold season. I called this company after I read their good reviews on Unilocal first thing this morning. Their technician Ed came just in 20 minutes. Checked every thing and found out that the cable was broken in the attic. He changed it and charged me at a reasonable price. Just In an hour and my heater works again.
Highly recommend Air Plus. Ed is efficient, knowledgeable and very kind, answered my questions patiently.

Very professional. Called them because my heater stopped firing up. Scheduled an appt. for the next day. Jeremy showed up and was very polite, helpful, and knowledgeable. He quickly determined that it was my air fliters tha were really clogged but also found that my condensation pump had failed and was leaking water all under my heater onto the subfloor. He cleaned up all the water, Replaced the pump and filters and generally tuned up the heater and the bill was right around $ 300. Fair price. I highly recommend Air Plus and Jeremy.

While we currently do not have issues with the AC unit they installed (not yet), I do have major complaints on how the 3 guys worked. If you hire them, please prepare your house to be ransacked by these people:
1.) They used all 3 of our bathrooms without asking permission and splattered urine all over the toilet rug. Disgusting! Being a human being, I understand that you have to void. What I don’t understand is why none of them asked permission so we can tell which restroom is for public use. Not only they did this once but 5 times! Plus they had to come back 1or more times to our house, spend just 30 mins or so and use our restrooms again without asking permission. FYI: our house is NOT a gas station toilet.
2.) They used rugs to cover the area where the workers walk through. These rugs however contained dust, wood chipping, stucco residue, dried leaves etc and looked like they have not been washed or vacuumed for the time eternity! These rugs defeat their purpose of maintaining the area clean and may actually cause harm than good to whoever walks on them.
3.) They chipped huge areas in our hatch when they forced our old HVAC out and when they put the new one.
4.) One guy parked in our driveway (which we didn’t mind). However, he left wrappers of food/​blueberry muffins on the driveway. Do you expect me to pick that up for you?
5.) One of the guys was at our kitchen staring at the backsplash, sink, countertop, and food. There is no vent, thermostat, furnace or whatsoever in that area that had something to do with the work they are doing. He was there for about 10 mins and I finally walked to the kitchen and he suddenly rushed leaving. What the heck was he doing?! Need water? (He could have asked).
6.) Two of the guys were arguing. One telling the other: «Why the *uck did you do that!» They were also yelling while working even if they were only a few feet away from each other. Please do us a favor and leave your cussing and arguing exclusively at Air Plus offices. We are not interested with your Jerry Springer shit.
7.) When all the work was over, lo and behold you need to re-​vacuum your floor and carpet because they only use a shopvac and leave over wood chippings that can be a pain on the soles of your feet. You also have to wash your comforters and other areas they dropped debris on. They just don’t care. When all the work is done they are in a rush to leave.
Do we want to be treated like kings and queens in our house when these Air Plus men are in our house? NO. What we only ask is a common decency a human being does to another. These people are by far the worst workers we ever had in our house!
If you don’t mind experiencing the above, then by all means hire these people. Good luck!

Air Plus Heating, Cooling, & Solar was the third of three bids I solicited to replace the c. 1980s furnace in our rental property. Rhonda Mayes, the scheduling coordinator (my description) was very quick about setting a convenient meet with Danny (to do the initial survey so as to create the materials list). As it turned out, Air Plus’s bid turned out to be the lowest with an all-​inclusive pricing in order to avoid any confusion. Offering to pay in cash, I even got a discount that could offset at least some of the sales tax. The installation was scheduled the following week. Andrew and Ed arrived on time the day of the installation. They were very efficient and very quick, even finishing a bit earlier than scheduled. By the time I arrived, they were almost done cleaning up and have already instructed my tenants as to the furnace’s proper operation. It was great doing business with Air Plus as they used Trane products (while I’m no HVAC expert I do know the reputation of Trane products), they are friendly and easy to work with from Rhonda to Dan and to Andrew and Ed. And they were all very knowledgeable, from the contracting aspect to the technical aspect. Overall a great company to do business with!

This last summer was the worst and after 7 years living in our condo without any form of air conditioning we had to get some relief. Our only option is a ductless air/​heat system because we do not have ducts to accommodate central air or heat. I received 3 different bids.
Air Plus was not the cheapest bid. But you do get what you pay for. Air Plus is the most reliable, organized and basically on point company we encountered. We felt secure in choosing Air Plus for our needs and are very happy with our system and all staff. Thank you Air Plus!

Big SHOUT OUT for Air Plus HVAC! Great people, great product and they always cheerfully stand behind their work. We hired AIR PLUS to design, install and service our new TRANE furnace two years ago. Last week Jim and crew came back to add the central a/​c to our existing system. Same great attitudes, great pricing and GREAT RESULTS. Trust these folks… in a sea of poor quality contractors, AIR PLUS is a beacon of honesty, value and reliability!

Air Plus Heating & Cooling is awesome! When we were having problems with our Trane A/​C during a horrible heat wave this month, Kim was able to get technician Ed out to our home quickly. We had another A/​C company tell us that we needed a whole new unit, but Ed was able to discover it was a more simple problem to repair. We appreciate the integrity that Ed showed, and in not telling us we needed a whole new unit when we didn’t. We are Air Plus Heating & Cooling customers for life with this company now.

Very happy with my experience with Air Plus. They called me ahead of time to confirm the appointment and called again when the tech (Jeremy) was on his way. Jeremy did a thorough job troubleshooting the problem and my A/​C unit now works great. I appreciate not only that he repaired the problem but also that he never tried to pressure me to buy extra services or parts. The cost of the repair was reasonable and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again in the future if needed.

This review is based on my conversation I had this morning to schedule an appointment to have our central air serviced/​tuned-​up. We have not used this company yet, nor ever will in the future by the way I was treated today. After reading so many positive reviews on this company, I was actually excited to contact them to help us service our central air unit. The woman I spoke with told me they were super busy and the first available appointment was the last week in Sept. I have a work meeting that week so was not able to be home to meet them. So, the next available date she had was Oct. 8, which worked with my schedule. She then proceeded to tell me that if I need someone sooner than that I would probably need to call around (which threw me off a bit since I was hoping to schedule an appointment through them). I’m new to the area and she was the first person I had called, based on the reviews, so I really didn’t have anyone else to call, but I told her, «Ok I will call around but can I also schedule for Oct. 8?» She told if I was going to call around then to not make the Oct 8 appointment with her because if I do end up canceling then she couldn’t book someone else for my spot and instead of losing one customer (my if I had to cancel), she would really be losing 2 customers (me canceling plus whoever else she wouldn’t be able to schedule). I was so surprised at her response to me that I repeated it back to her to make sure I heard her correctly. I asked her, «are you telling me to call around first, and if I can’t find anyone else to help me, then call you back for the Oct. 8^th date?» «Yes. That is what I said,» she replied. Well, guess what? She for sure just lost 1 customer today by the way I was treated over the phone. She obviously doesn’t need another new customer.

Extremely satisfied and not just because it is 90 degrees outside and I am cool as a cucumber. These guys know their stuff. Dan helped me select an excellent Trane unit — variable speed compressor so quiet you don’t notice it running at all. Quality of work was top notch and they completed the job just when they said they would. Rhonda is a pleasure to work with, she kept us fully informed and ensured no surprises.

Ronda is the one you talk to when you first call and I loved how nice and informative she was, she got me a same day appointment which is hard since it the places I called had a three week wait period. Ed showed up at my home to inspect he looked at the thermostat and the outside unit before diagnosing my problem. I’m a first time home owner so I very much appreciated his patience with my questions. He went above and beyond and truly cared about my situation I didn’t feel like he was there to just make a sale. He told me to take my time and that I could always call if I needed more information. I definitely will recommend and go back to them.

Had them out to repair my AC. They were on time, professional and found the problem within minutes and had the part replaced shortly after. They did not try to push anything on me or look for other ways to increase the bill. I would call them again for any AC issues

Well I received 3 bids for installation of a ductless hvac system and I selected Air Plus as they were the low bidder and had numerous online recommendations. It’s been 3 weeks since the installation of my new Fujitsu ductless mini-​split system and it is great. Jim, Ed, Jeremy and Andrew did a great job with minimal disturbance to our household. The Fujitsu units are very quiet and cool my entire home nicely. I opted for wall units in each bedroom and 1 wall unit in my living room and 1 wall unit in the family room. The two outdoor heat pumps are super quiet.

We are delighted with our new Trane furnace & A/​C installed by Air Plus after our 15+ year old A/​C gave out and the 25+ year old furnace was due to be replaced. The crew was courteous & easy going! Both Jim & Kim aim to please and ensured everything was done as promised. They gave decent quotes for the work, comparable or in some cases better than others. The website also looks very resourceful — although Kim said it’s going to get a facelift soon and be re-​upped with even more information.
I wholeheartedly recommend Air Plus for your HVAC/​ductwork needs and dare you to find a better deal.

My air conditioning stopped working. Jeremy came out and did some diagnostic testing to see why it wasn’t working. It turned out to be the water pump. I was very pleased with the service. Jeremy was very professional, honest and efficient.

I work with various vendors as a property manager and can honestly say this install went great. I was informed all along the way as to the upcoming steps. It was a fluid process that was logical and well paced, not frantic or disorganized as some installs I have had with other vendors. They closed loops excellently so I got the install, instruction and documentation in a timely, professional manner. I’m not expecting any functionality issues with the heater/​air conditioner but I am confident that if there are, Jim will ensure it is taken care of to my satisfaction. I ‘tested’ Air Plus and installed this in my own house first to make sure they provide a smooth experience; I will be using Air Plus for other properties as they come along.

Jim’s guidance at the first interview about our options was invaluable. We got a much better system for 50% less than the big name company we also interviewed. His installers, and Rhonda are pleasant, efficient, and pay such careful attention to every detail. The two days of installation were fun and the installers were so considerate and thorough. They run an excellent company — they plan to add solar to their company offerings and we won’t hesitate to use them. Now if they only sold carpeting — which is our next hurdle in this remodel.

I had an AC issue for the main living area of the house and I called AirPlus to come check it out. On initial appointment a nice service tech came out and try to resolve the problem. My wife asked as long as your here can you also replace a thermostat in the kids room. He said no problem and within 5 min replaced the kids room thermostat. He then proceeded to the actual job at hand: fixing the living room AC unit. After 2 hours of trying he was not able to determine the problem and indicated the boss would come out tomorrow to figure it out.
The next day (Sunday) the boss arrives, figures out what’s wrong (1.5 hours) and resolves the issue.

This had become our go-​to company for air conditioning service. They came out and helped us with a stuck drain a couple of summers ago. It was the owner that came out and he provided good service.
After that we intended to use them all the time. This season my wife was concerned that the A/​C wasn’t working well. She spoke to the owner/​wife and they set up a service call at a rate of $ 89 minimum.
Turned out it the AC was just fine. However, the repairman said — instead of paying $ 89, you could have got a full maintenance for $ 129 which includes a filter cleaning. My wife said great — can you do that now? He stated no, I don’t have time.
It was a bummer that the full AC service wasn’t offered to her to begin with. I understand they are busy, but that was poor service in this instance. We would have been totally willing to pay $ 40 more to get full service. We will probably go back to our old AC company.

Jim and Kim are a great team who offer fair pricing and good service.
We bought our first home in the El Cerrito neighborhood of the College Area. Long story short, the furnace which was original to the house was red-​tagged by SDG&E and needed to be replaced. My wife and I were new to HVAC equipment installation, so starting with Unilocal reviews as a guide, we contacted multiple HVAC companies so that we could make an informed decision.
Without getting into details here, we felt Air Plus was the best fit for us. Jim and Kim were extremely helpful, professional and friendly. We ended up having our gas furnace replaced, replaced all of the attic ductwork that was also original to the house, and installed a new air conditioning system. Money well spent, and we couldn’t be happier with the results!
