Bought an Elantra GT and received great incentives. This is the second car I have bought from Sunroad Auto, the first being a 2011 Accent. Returned to SD after a four-​year, two-​city assignment for work. Needed to dump my 2013 Santa Fe AWD Sport because I no longer have to battle the snow. Here is what I experienced:
The Fantastic: Marilyn Ruiz is absolutely a sweetheart who works hard for the customer. She will listen to what your needs are and genuinely wants the customer to have a positive experience. She asks great questions that a customer may have forgot about asking.
The Good: Finance Manager. Fun to talk to, straight forward, great at selling protection packages. Lets customers choose their own protection plans. Also the service crew who prepped the vehicle for delivery in a very quick fashion. They had to ‘dig out’ the vehicle on the lot because of this dealership’s goofy lot layout of jamming vehicles in to every corner of the lot.
The Average: Inventory selection. I would have liked to purchase my vehicle in another color. Too many blah colors (like White) for the model I bought (see goofy layout comment above — not a lot of space). Took too long to purchase the vehicle because I had to play negotiation games.
The Slick: Sales manager makes you negotiate, and trust me, he will prevail. If your Carfax has any blemishes, forget about a decent trade offer. I think it is Sunroad’s policy to give lousy trade offers My sales person in 2011 told me, «Nobody is ever happy with their trade-​in.» Translation: «We don’t give good trade offers.» Sharpen your negotiating skills, the guy is as good as they come. I got a few things I wanted, so I can’t really complain; they will make money and will not make a deal to lose money. Just don’t expect a good trade offer; try and work more incentives.

Jorge was absolutely awesome! His stellar communication and genuine care for my vehicle was above reproach. Would definitely recommend.

I expected a long wait for my car to be serviced, but Ed was on top of everything and helped provide excellent service!

I absolutely love my car and I’m glad I’m able to find a service department that really puts my car needs at the top of their list. Great service every single time I’m there to get any work done. Even though I didn’t buy my car from them, they still deliver! Adan is my service advisor and he’s always on top of his game! He’s my go to guy for all my needs. Handles everything professionally and efficiently. Everyone there that I’ve encountered have been great to me. They’ve earned a loyal customer for life.

My husband and I are in the process of a military PCS to Germany and in order to ship the vehicle, we had to have recalls resolved and the windshield replaced because there was a crack in it. I took my 2011 Hyundai Sonata to this Hyundai dealership because I trusted them to do a good job. I have used them for repairs in the past and never had an issue. This time when I got my car back, the paint was stripped bald from the tape they used for the windshield repairs. As if military PCS’s were not stressful enough already, now I have to deal with this. I have contacted them about it, never expecting them to refuse to claim responsibility or give me a difficult time about it, and they claimed Hyundai could not pay for the damages because my vehicle is no longer under warranty. My warranty doesn’t even matter if the damage was caused by repairs made AT the dealership. They offered to pay for half of the damage, which is a completely unfair offer. I trusted them to repair my vehicle and they damaged it extremely and are not taking responsibility for it. I uploaded the pictures of the damage here and you can see where the paint has been completely stripped from my roof.
Edit 5÷25÷16− a few hours later: They just responded to me via email apparently after seeing this and told me that thanks to my Unilocal review, the manager decided to «drop the deal» to pay for half of the damage caused by them and isn’t willing to help me anymore. A childish and completely unprofessional response because I told the truth of exactly what is happening on social media. Wrong way to handle this situation and I won’t stand for this. This business claims to support military as I read on their website, yet during a very challenging time for my military family and I while we are relocating, they have become our number one problem. This is not okay to do to any customer. You cannot destroy someone’s property and refuse to fix it. Completely unacceptable behavior from this Service Department.

I took my Genesis in for 5k mile service… Courteous, fast, a bit rough on organization… Service rep found some sloppy work done by the OC dealership where I bought the car… Fixed it for free but didn’t have the car washed as promised… Not impressed but not bad.
I’m used to the service quality at MBZ and Lexus… that’s impressive. Keep striving Hyundai, you’re not too far off!

We took our 2010 Hyundai Genesis to Kearney Mesa Hyundai May 17 the 2016. We talked with Victoria about a simple repair on our vehicle. We did not have a reservation or appointment as we were on vacation. She helped us out of very sticky situation, for no charge. Victoria thank you.

This is my second time leasing a car from Andy Pabon, and had a great experience. I first inquired about a specific car on Monday, and test drove a similar version that same day. Andy was attentive and had the specific model I wanted ready on the lot the next day. After doing our homework and getting offers from other brands, we decided to come back on Thursday. We knew our target price, and Andy and his team got us to the price range we were comfortable at. We got in and out in less than 2 hours, with a brand new 2017 Elantra. I’d definitely recommend leasing from this specific dealership, they are attentive and extremely competitive with their prices.

2^nd time doing business with Chris Evans who sold me a 2016 Hyundai Genesis. He is very professional, addresses my needs and negotiates a really good deal for me the customer, and I asked for a lot and got a great bang for the dollar.
I want to say that the entire service repair team and that Service Advisor Rashad Russell is really great with satsifying all my relentless bequest to fix one thing or another. And I am really type A B and C type of customer where people hide and run when I show up.
These guys really do a great job and I cannot reccomend them enough or anyone who wants to meet up with these professionals that are a credit to their company and profession!!!

Salesperson Joe Dolin has been outstanding in all aspects of customer service and was instrumental in my purchase of a Hyundai Sonata Limited in Feb 2016. He spent several hours with me and answered all of my questions. We looked at several vehicles on both the main lot and the remote lot, and I test drove 2 different vehicles that day with him.
Joe’s professionalism was above and beyond what I could hope for. He took the time to explain all the new electronics on the Sonata, show me how Siri worked with the vehicle, explain navigation commands, and set me up with Blue Link services and the Blue Link App on my iPhone. He was very patient and explained things in an easy-​to-​understand way to me. The electronics preferences were completely set up upon purchase of the vehicle that afternoon.
In addition Joe stated that Apple Car Play would be available with a software patch in early 2016 which closed the deal. This information was confirmed by James Mullen, Finance Manager, at the time of purchase, which was exactly what I was looking for in a new Hyundai Sonata. Also, I was unsure if the vehicle would fit in my small condo garage, and Joe even let me drive the car to my nearby home to test the parking space.
I have the highest regard for Joe Dolin and would give him an A+ for making my purchase experience excellent. I have told my friends about your dealership and recommended it to them based on Joe’s assistance with my purchase.

Had a great experience here checking out the Hyundai Genesis Sedan. Scott, one of the sales people at the dealership, was helpful and accommodating to my car shopping needs without being pushy. The team here was a breath of fresh air after time spent at a couple other dealerships. The Genesis is also a fantastic ride, if you’re looking at luxury sedans and want to save a little bit of dough, take a look.
One of the best experiences I had at a dealer while shopping for a car these past few weeks.

The staff here has always been incredibly sweet and helpful. It’s a group of guys mostly in their 30s I’d say who are polite beyond belief. They explain things very well.
I’ve stopped coming here for big car maintenance things only because getting those things done at a dealership are so expensive versus finding yourself a trusted mechanic.
Although I still come to this dealership to get my car washed and the guys always treat me great.
Joel is awesome. I’ve interacted with him several times.

It’s a dealership, so at the end of the day they all function the same.
Money over customer service.
Keep copies of absolutely EVERYTHING, because even if they don’t send you it in the first place it’s a hassle to get. It took me 3 months to finally get someone to help me with my service and maintenance plan, just to find out it’ll take an additional 4 – 6 weeks to receive the maintenance contract.
The 2 stars are for the actual service department, it’s always hit or miss there are rude employees who are always inconvenienced by you and a couple who make up for it and my car is done in an expected amount of time.
Overall if you can’t handle people who lack customer service skills just brace yourselves. In the almost 2 years I’ve been coming here 2 are actually helpful and polite, everyone else shows how inconvenienced they are by you.

I want to give Kearny Mesa Hyundai a higher rating but I’m too confused by the service department and warranty information to do so. I’ve now taken my Hyundai Accent into the service department on two separate occasions over the past 1.5 years for the same problem.
In December 2013, just two months after I bought my 2011 car used, two of the spark plugs went out (or whatever they do when they quit working… I don’t speak car). Since I was under the 60,000 mile warranty, I took my car to the dealership. They fixed those two spark plugs and the coils. Fast forward to July 2015 and a third spark plug went out. Again, they fix the spark plug and coil and it’s covered under the warranty. However, they tell me that my fourth spark plug (the only one that hasn’t yet been replaced by them) will need to be replaced soon but it sounds like I would have to pay for the replacement. So what I don’t understand is why is it covered under the warranty for the spark plug to be replaced after it goes out but it’s not covered to do preemptive maintenance on one that you know is going to have issues soon?
My car is approaching the 60,000 mark and I asked about doing the 60,000 mile check up while my car was in for repairs. I was told it would cost in the $ 550 range. My boyfriend did some research and crunched the numbers based on what I was told would be done to my car during the check up and he strongly believes that we can save a couple hundred dollars by taking the car elsewhere, which is what I intend to do. Since my car is nearly at 60,000 miles, I don’t see much need in returning to Kearny Mesa Hyundai when I can get cheaper service other places.
So why am I giving them three stars? I’ve been impressed by their speedy service. I dropped by car off on Sunday night with no appointment (it started having issues on Saturday night after closing and we weren’t able to drop it off on Monday morning due to work) and they got my car in and out by Monday late afternoon. Since I wasn’t able to pick it up until after the service area’s 6 PM closing, they left the keys with the sales department and I was able to quickly and easily pick it up anytime before 9 PM.

Well, as I stated in my original review, I don’t give out 5 stars often and when that 5 star review changes, there is a good reason.
So, here you go.
Driving along the highway, kids in car and all of a sudden my check engine light and ESC off light comes on. I was like, WTHeck? I get home without incident and I start googling. Find out that usually means the Stop Lamp Switch/​Brake Switch is broken. In other words, I literally had NO BRAKE LIGHTS WHILE I WAS DRIVING! Find out there was a recall. I call Hyundai and was informed that my car does not qualify for the recall because I purchased my car 4 months earlier then the start date recall. Fine, I accept that. Not happy about it, but I accept it.
I ask them how much the part is. 9.99! Great! How much to install? I get bounced around to different people. One tells me 60.00, but he wants to check to make sure. On hold for a few minutes, by this time I gave the phone to my husband and the guy comes back on and tells my hubby, 160.00! WHAT? Are they out of their mind? (See, that is why it was important my husband had the phone and not me, because I would have asked them just that.)
I am thinking this must be really complicated to be charged 160.00…right? Told them we would call them back. Well, I love the internet and the auto people who are there to offer their help. It is a 10 – 15 minute fix… if that. It is right above the brake pedal/​under the steering wheel area. You pop the old one out and put the new one in… and they want 160.00 to do it?
Well, we got it done and the only thing it cost us was a part from AutoZone. Engine light/​ESC light are off and I HAVE BRAKE LIGHTS!
Now, I truly appreciate the quality of work Hyundai Service did before. I gave them the praise and thanks yous on my first review, but as soon as I feel like I am being taken advantage of or hustled, you lose me.
We are moving back east in 6 months. I was going to take my car to them and have them make sure everything is okay and up to par because I know it needs extra TLC before we make a 3000 mile trip. However, I am not going to do it now. They lost my business and recommendation. I don’t like feeling hustled. To me, it is a matter of character. If I can’t trust that someone is going to be fair and honest, I am certainly not going to trust them with my life/​kids lives as I travel west to east.
I don’t know if they have a new bunch of people in there or they changed management or pricing, but they lost my business. The people who took care of me before were OUTSANDING! This is just a shame.
160.00+9.99+taxes and fees and whatever else… this would have cost about 200.00. UNSAT!
