I hired Pronto to repair a broken garage door lift spring. Allan proceeded to re-​work many other issues that were never installed properly by other «professionals» and he did really superb work while clearly explaining all of reasons for the changes as he went along. The door then worked superbly. Since my lift motor system was almost 20 years old, I kept his card handy for the day when it would require replacement. That day happened this week. He had a new Liftmaster opener installed within 24 hours of contacting him and we just love it. Allen is very capable, a former aircraft mechanic nonetheless with a great demeanor and work ethic. I cannot say enough good about him.

The spring system to my garage door broke and to make the situation worse the system was no longer being used and discontinued by the manufacturer. I had called at least 8 different places and all quoted me a wide price range between $ 400 to $ 700 and this was not to replace the damage parts but to convert the system to a more reliable and universal system used by most garage door manufacturers. I came across Allan’s website and gave him a call for an estimation on the conversion. He did not BS me around like the other 8 repair companies I called. Allan gave me a straight out the door set price which was lower than his competitors. I immediately made an appointment on a Saturday with him which he as able to come out and do the conversion that following Monday. The job was done very professional and completed within an hour. In addition Allan has over 34 years of experience in his profession which also made my decision easier when hiring him for repairing my garage door.

The spring on my garage door broke last night and my neighbors (more than one) recommended that I call Allan at Pronto Garage Doors and Gates. When I called Allan around 6:15 pm to my surprise he not only answered but insisted upon coming out that night. Allan went over the options we had to fix the door, including the benefits of each before beginning work. In less than an hour Allan had the door working and even took the time to adjust the garage door opener. The cost was reasonable and exactly what the neighbors told me to expect. Alan is the MAN. We have heavy iron and wood gates and he has been out several times over the last couple of years to repair, replace parts, etc. on the electronic system we have had for 12 years. Each time, he comes quickly, works fast, and is extremely reasonably priced. This week, our gate finally gave up the ghost. Alan tried to make it last as long as it could but it was clear even to our untrained eyes that a new one was needed. He got us a good price, ordered right away, and before I knew it, the thing was installed and we were back in business. I highly recommend this company and this man. Fair. Honest. Quick. And best of all, he’s so so nice!

I searched online for an electric gate repair service and called an 800# that came up. An operator answered and said someone would call me back. Soon after that, I did receive a call from Allan and scheduled an appointment for that day. He was very prompt and diagnosed the gate quickly and efficiently.
However, when I was questioning him on his pricing for parts and labor, he got defensive. He diagnosed that we needed new batteries for the gate. His quote was for $ 375. I asked how much the batteries were and he wouldn’t give me an answer until about the 5^th time I asked. Even at that time he lied, because he said they were $ 120 each. I asked him how long it was going to take to install them and he said it didn’t matter. He said it was very difficult to do and was something I couldn’t do on my own. I was suspicious, but he convinced me anyways.
We paid him his $ 45 diagnosis fee and scheduled for him to come back the next day. The $ 45 diagnosis was a very reasonable price from some of the other places I called, however I started to replay our conversation in my head and decided to google the problem.
I can’t say I was surprised to find the batteries online for $ 80 total ($ 40 each), which were shipped to my house in less than 3 days. Plus downloaded the manual from the Chamberlain website and found how easy it was to replace the batteries. One screwdriver and 5 minutes later, I had my gate opening and closing with no issues.
This guy Allan is okay for the $ 45 estimate, but after that, do a little research online. You can probably repair some of these things on your own. Or at least after that, you can negotiate a fair price with him. I don’t know what this guy thinks his hourly rate of pay should be, but he’s definitely not worth the $ 295 for the 5 minute repair he quoted.
Be cautious and when someone tells you they won’t tell you how much parts and labor is, that should throw up red flags.

I called at 11 a.m. and they were at my home that afternoon on time. Allan was able to save me a very costly replacement of the entire unit by just replacing two worn out parts. He also adjusted my track which had been pushing the door closed a little too hard. I was very pleased at the high quality of service, and that they didn’t take advantage of the situation to sell me a expensive new unit. Most places would have. Highly recommended.

Called Allan from Pronto Garage Doors & Gates to come and replace my broken garage door spring. He said he’d be at my home within a hour and he was. He fixed my door in less than a hour was very professional AND had the best price. I would definitely recommend him.
