Awesome Value on a Custom Perforated Leather Seats.
First let me say that if I knew of Martin months ago I would have had reupholstered my vehicle in March. Instead, I wasted a lot of time trying to get the Katzkin’ approved partner in San Diego (ASC on Miramar Road) to find the time to give me an estimate at a time that might be convenient to someone who has a job. The woman who runs ASC just told me how hard SHE worked, and how she needed weekends off. (I guess it didn’t dawn on her that her customers might also work hard, and the only time they might have for an estimate might be on a Saturday.)
Martin not only delivered a quality job, but he made it easy, which is something that other re upholstery shops seem to have a hard time doing. (If you think I am exaggerating just read the reviews for many of the upholstery shops here on Unilocal.) I was referred to Martin by John at Murphy’s Canvas, a vendor that I would highly recommend to anyone who needs marine canvas work.
When I called Martin, he told me that he didn’t see any reason why he couldn’t reupholster my 2009 Subaru Outback Limited from tan leather seats to black perforated leather. This might seem like a straight forward proposition, but a knowledgeable upholstery shop told me that unless there was an aftermarket leather kit, the airbags in the seats created too much liability to take on the work. Also one other shop that agreed to do the work was stringing me out in terms of when they could start. (To clarify, Katzkin is an example of an aftermarket OEM that provides the material for installers to use in reupholstering vehicles.)
I have to admit that after talking to Martin on the phone I was still somewhat skeptical. Prior to talking to Martin, I talked to the Katzkin representative directly, and was told that the leather kits they made for Subaru Outbacks were to convert cloth seats to leather, and not tan leather seats to black leather seats. (If all of this seems baffling to you, you have to remember, we are talking about a Subaru here, and they are pretty quirky. LOL)
I set up an appointment with Martin to look at the car and what I wanted, and he said if there was not an aftermarket kit for it, he would custom make the seats for me. When I mentioned I wanted perforated leather, he indicated that wouldn’t be a problem, but it would be extra. When I asked for leather on both the front and back seat surfaces including the head rests, Martin told me that would be possible in a custom job, but of course would be extra! When I asked for red stitching, Martin again said, that would be no problem, but that it would be extra. (Talking to Martin showed me that I had finally made progress! I found a provider that understood that in business you want to serve customers that are willing to pay.) When I asked him about the airbags in the seats and the seat warmers, Martin told me that those would not be a problem in a custom job, because he knew how to sew the seam out of which airbags need to deploy through, and he had dealt with seats that had the same type of seat warmers.
Martin took my down payment and I left his shop thinking that he would make me custom seats from material he was going to order to meet my wants. Sometime after 5:00 PM Martin called because he thought there might be a possibility to order the patterns from Katzkin, but he needed to know what size engine it had, since the seats in Subarus were different based on the engine under the hood. (When I told him it was not a 3.0 liter engine, it looked like that avenue was shut) Again, Customer Service!!! Martin was thinking about satisfying the customer, and not thinking about how to make excuses!
With that said, it looked like it might be a few weeks before he could get my car into his job stream, since the material he had to order was going to come from a company in Florida. Without knowing it though, Martin had used his influence with the people at Katzkin to have them make the material (black perforated leather with red stitching to the specs of my car seats). Getting material custom cut for my seats from Katzkin makes it possible to install the material without having to pattern the material from the material that came off of my seats. This was a huge time saver in so many ways. Within a week, Martin mentioned that the material was in, and scheduled an appointment for me to have the material installed. (Also, because he didn’t have to work off the original seats, he could spend his time fitting material that had already been custom made, which also saved more time.)
My seats (both front and back) came out fantastic, and my car was only in the shop for a day and a half. Martin did the job for the agreed upon price, and even detailed the driver’s side door, which wasn’t part of the job, to make his work look better. (Martin also installed black carpeting on the backs of the back seats, which I think might not have been included in the bid.

Called here for a quote on my car, and the guy who talked to me gave me some details and a quote that was about in the same range as a few other places. I told him I wanted to get a couple more quotes first before booking the appointment.
I got a couple of phone numbers mixed up, so I accidentally called him again a few minutes later asking for the same quote. This time, he said «I think you already called me, my friend» and immediately hung up on me. I understand that I made a mistake and already asked him for a quote, but his rudeness instantly lost my business.
So if you want to do business here, don’t call twice? Seems like a silly reason to lose a customer. Plenty of other shops in town offering work at about the same price, minus the attitude.

What a great experience with this business. Martin is the most friendly, accomodating, and sincere business owner I have dealt with in a very long time. He as straight forward, gave me a quote over the phone, met the time frame which turned out to be overnight and the end result was a perfect job, far exceeding my expectations. Replacing the headliner on my 2003 Nissan Xterra was a great improvement and only cost $ 200.
Love this business and will not hesitate to use them again or recomend Martin to anyone needing upholstery repair or headliner replacement.

The leather in both front seat cushions in my Acura were wearing and tearing. Martin re-​upholstered both seats next-​day and now they look brand new! He does beautiful work… very professional and still affordable. He is a one man show at his upholstery shop, and is able to stick to his promises. Definitely recommended!

This guy (Martin) is REALLY as good as all the reviews indicate. He delivered as promised — and put an entirely new interior in my 1990 Toyota pickup. I upgraded the fabric selection — and had him add more padding in my split bench seat. WOW! What a great job he did — looks like it just rolled off the assembly line. He also changed out the cheap factory visors with some really nice looking used ones.

Outstanding. Martin did a phenomenal job putting in new leather in our Highlander. Price was right, customer service was excellent and we’re very happy with the end product.

I never hesitate to call this place because of the happy costumer and the 5 stars. Martin did a amazing job with my freelander car headliner for reasonable prize. I wanna include about your precious time you losing every time your car is in the shop. But in here I dropped my car yesterday morning next day it was ready to pick it up. Thats how fast is the service in here. To sum it all up, this place is wonderful to bring your car for you headliner needs and hopefully my leather seat in the next few months. Martin did a fantastic job replacing my convertible top. I’ve heard of shops being sloppy with this type of work, but Martin’s work is very clean.
This is the first time I had a convertible top replaced, but I can’t imagine having a better experience… well maybe if he gave me a churro, that would be nice.
Definitely would come back, hopefully not for a another convertible top.

Martin was very nice when I called and asked for a quote to replace the headliner of my 2006 Mazda 6. I ended up taking my car in at 9am on a Friday, and it was ready around 3 pm. It looks brand new! Martin does great work. He said he’s been at this location for 15 years now, and the quality of his work shows why! It’s a relief to find a place like this for! definitely will recommend Quality Auto Upholstery to my friends.

I always keep my extra car in the garage, and when I left it out for a few days, the headliner started sagging! Well… it was really noticeable since my car has round top (VW Beetles), and I started calling upholstery places.
I called Jim’s Upholstery first, and they gave me a quote of $ 175 but were not flexible with scheduling. I work 8 – 5, and there was no way to fit it in my schedule unless I took some time off. Then I called Quality Auto Upholstery, and Martin told me $ 200 and could do it right away. I went ahead and brought my car here.
It was a small mom and pop shop, and it seemed like Martin works by himself. I left my car after work one day, and I came back next day. It was done as promised, but it looked weird at first (because I picked a different color than the original). After awhile, I really love how nice it looks, and he also told me he guarantees his work for a year (he basically said if it doesn’t come off in a year, it will be there for several years).
He was pleasant to talk to, and I have no complaint. I gave 4 stars because of the higher price than the other place and the car could be vacuumed a little better.

C5 Corvette. New seat leather. My car looked better than new when Martin got done with it. Very polite, made an appointment for me, and delivered big time. This guy is an artist– a real auto leather and fabric expert, and has really fair prices too. I would give this place SIX stars if I could. Make sure to make an appointment; it’s the only way he works.

Martin is a fantastic professional with a fantastic work ethic. I found myself in a bind the day of the project and martin went out of his way to drive me. Not only that but he was able to perfectly match the color i chose for my 2004 GTO headliner to the accent door paint. He ran into a very minor issue with a worn out door lock but assured me he would purchase a new one and install in. A man of his word, one week later he called, I stopped by and 2 minutes later it was done. Impressive sir, I will return. Thank you

Q.A.U. and Martin Rocks !!! My wife and I are very pleased with the results achieved by Mr. Quintana. I showed up at 9am… he smiled, and quoted me a very fair price (blowing away the competition), and gave me a reasonable time-​frame. Truth be told, we only had seat covers installed to the front and rear seats of our 2013 Toyota Camry… BUT, that being said, I walked around for a bit, came back, and at 11am… HE WAS ALREADY FINISHED !!! Quality work, great prices and prompt service! Martin refurbished the driver seat, replaced the sagging headliner and repaired the center console in my Jeep Cherokee. All the work was excellent and completed in one day. I recommend Martin for any upholstery work you are considering. The support in the drivers seat is better than factory original. Thank You!

Called about getting a repair made on my RV. The gentleman who took my call was not very helpful (in fact quite rude) told me to «keep calling. maybe I’ll get lucky». I’ll take my business elsewhere.

The interior of my 2001 Nissan XTerra was looking quite worn and showing its age with a sagging roofliner and holes in the driver’s seat, exposing bare metal that would dig into my back. I tried to ignore these issues by telling myself that they added to the car’s character, but one day enough was enough.
I looked through various reviews on Unilocal and saw that Martin was recommended by Alvin O, who tinted my other cars. That was a golden recommendation to me, so I sent an e-​mail to Martin with pics of the interior problem areas. He sent me an e-​mail reply with a very reasonable quote, and I followed that exchange with a phone call, during which I was able to make an appointment for a few days later.
Martin was also working on another car that day but he was able to finish that vehicle and my roofliner before day’s end. The worksmanship was impeccable. The roof looks brand new (obviously) and the interior seems brighter (never realized how dirty the old liner was!). It looks really, really good.
As for the seat, it was a factory pattern so Martin had to order it from Nissan. Otherwise, he would have also finished the seat in the same day. The problem was, with my own work schedule, I couldn’t see when I would be able to bring the car in next during Martin’s regular Mon-​Fri hours… but Martin told me, «No problem, let’s get you in on a Saturday then, just let me know which one’s best.» Is that customer service or what?!?
The factory fabric came in within the following week, we met up on the Saturday we blocked off, and in only two hours not only had he repaired the seat, he also added new padding that makes the seat infinitely more comfortable than it was before and adds support almost on par with the bucket seats in my sports car. I’m extremely pleased.
On top of everything else, since he had nearly the entire interior loosened up to get the roofliner out, he noticed a two things that he fixed for me no charge– a missing seat belt clip button, and a stuck seat slider. I had given up hope on the passenger seat slider a few years ago but Martin took it apart, found two nickels trapped by the frozen grease in the sliding mechanism, and bam, it’s working great again.
The customer service, pricing, and worksmanship are no less than A+ here.
I will definitely be back for a custom interior on my other car!

After saving money by not purchasing our Maxima with leather i cam a cross a great deal on a Kazkins leather kit. I called around and people wanted to charge me way to much. I found Martin and gave him a call and he was willing to keep my car overnight in order to ensure its safety. I dropped our car off at 0900 went to work an the entire Leather was installed by 5pm.
The car looks new and the fitment is great. his price was awesome and now our 2011 Maxima looks and feels so much more comfortable.

This business gets 5 stars from me. The vinyl on the driver’s side of my car was all torn up, so Alvin O. recommended me to Martin. We talked last week, but scheduled for this morning. Martin got it done in less than 2 hours. The vinyl that he replaced matches exactly like my car seat and the whole thing looks perfect. I am a happy customer.
