I have been a long distance landlord for a number of years. I have used Unilocal for a number of projects. It was time to change out flooring on steps in a townhome I own. I did my research and started with Woodworks, intending to get a couple quotes from 3 installers. I set up an appointment with Ron at the townhome when I came out to SD to visit relatives. During our meeting I also met Corey (the installer). Both of them made me feel really comfortable about the timeframe to install and my tenant was very happy to get wood stair treads. So I looked no further and just picked them. I’v have been very happy with the whole process. The finished product is outstanding! Corey coordinated the R & R with my tenant and kept me informed via txt and email. I have to replace 2 bedrooms that are carpeted and will call Ron when that time comes.

Love our new hickory floor! Ron stood out from the rest not only as a craftsman, but also assuring us that his team would do the same, and they all delivered! We are very pleased!

Well, it’s been a little over a year and yup, I still hate my floors. I’ve included a photo. It’s of a plank that I’ve had to cover with scotch tape. The split was already there when Jaret installed the defective plank, and Woodworks did nothing at the time to resolve it.
Ron (co-​owner) emailed me very upset a few months ago that my review was unfair and that «I thought you were an honest person, Mara. I never tried to sell you a laminate floor. Where did you get that?» LOL, so I updated the review to reflect greater accuracy about that point, and that is that Ron did not try to sell me a laminate floor because I never even considered plastic flooring. I was always very clear about that. He did, however, have very limited hardwood inventory in his showroom, and his showroom was overwhelmingly stocked with laminate flooring, and his pricing for hardwood floors was outdated/​irrelevant, even though the biz is called WoodWorkds… it should be called LamWorks… and that is what I was trying to express. Thank you Ron for bringing that point to my attention.
Also accurate (and I hadn’t mentioned it in the first review for lack of space) is that the installers had almost installed a giant rectangle of only blond wood in my kitchen nook (they ran out of the other colors and didn’t think to open more boxes… DUH) which would have been such an outrageous eyesore and had I not BEEN THERE TO CATCH IT I would have had to live with that mess, too. Now remember, I’m paying WoodWorks to do good work; they aren’t doing good work; no one is supervising the job except for me; I’m losing money by rejecting work to supervise these two clowns; and Ron and Dave want to charge me an hourly fee for supervising. UNBELIEVABLE & OUTRAGEOUS. (What was that hourly fee you had quoted me, Ron?) There were so many times I should have fired WoodWorks, and I will never let another business dupe me again and again like these guys did – the one good thing I learned from this experience: fool me once.
So Jaret and his brother walked off the job and Dave was left to install the rest on his lonesome (and why were there no other installers available??) Dave took his sweet time. My husband and I often asked ourselves, «I wonder what time Dave will show up?» or «I wonder if Dave will show up?» Dave took a trip to Disneyland («I thought of getting something from the movie ‘Frozen’ for your girls, but I didn’t.» he told us). He also went on a weekend camping trip. Meanwhile, my family was holed up with our in-​laws and paying extra storage costs for a job that was 3 weeks overdue. Dave was so out of touch with what my family was going through.
Thanks, Ron, for reminding me that honesty is the best policy and that there was even more to this story that was true and needed exposing.
As for whether or not the unnamed inspector in my review is facing alleged charges of fraud – it’s not because he did an awesome job re-​installing and lacing my flooded floor… or catching that my basement vents were covered… or pointing out how your planks just popped up like they were glued with plaster… so really, I don’t care… his work was amazing and I’d hire him in a heartbeat.

These guys are solid. Great job. Flooring product used was on point. Corey and Ron were on it and worked with me and my family to be as flexible as possible with our toddler kids’ schedule. Both kept me informed. Make sure you ask for Hector and Roman as your installers. One of the best installing teams I have worked with. Thanks you guys.

WoodWorks just finished ripping out my old wood floors and installing new oak flooring, which was sanded, stained and finished to our liking. Ron was very easy going during the process of setting up our work and getting quotes and color samples in for approval. Then David took over and truly did a beautiful job with our house. The results look incredible and David and Cory paid great attention to detail in making the final product perfect. I highly recommend their services and was also very pleased with the ease of personal interactions with their staff. David and Cory worked hard on the final day to ensure that my kids could be in their beds before the first day of school. Thank you for your hard work, David! It was a pleasure to work with you.

We just finished getting our wood floors cleaned and refinished with WoodWorks. We had just purchased our house and did not know what type of wood flooring was installed. We called three companies to give us quotes. The first two didn’t know what type of wood it was… the third… WoodWorks…walked in the door and the owner, Ron, said «Awww Merbau… beautiful wood». Ron is a wood guy. He knows wood. He advised us on cleaning the floors and refinishing the floors and then he did the work and it was beautiful. Bottom line — you want to hire guys that are experts in their trade. Ron’s an expert.

Our experience with WOODWORKS has been amazing. We are very picky people regarding a well done finished work and here we were really served. The owner, Ron, as well as his staff are very competent, professional, and conscientious about their job. We started with rooms downstairs and did other rooms upstairs after a few months, we shall come back to WOODWORKS for their exceptional work. They were on time, very knowledgeable to advise us, customer service is outstanding, I could go on and on and on about their great qualities. I can only recommend this company and I’m sorry there are only 5 stars for rating. :). Thank you WOODWORKS!

Unilocal reviews. Woodworks was one of the top businesses.
Ron Terrell, owner of Woodworks, met us at our home and gave us an estimate. I was impressed with his knowledge and the fact he owned the company. Unlike other businesses who send one of their guys with little experience and is just a sales person. Ron wasn’t selling us.
Every project has a hiccup and ours was no different. Ron was fair with the resolution. The job was completed early and he made sure our home was clean after.

David from Woodworks was a true professional. His work was meticulous and precise. My husband is a licensed architect and is very particular about the installation details. Our floors turned out beautifully. We couldn’t have asked for anything better! If you want your hardwood floors done right this is your guy!

So, I just became a homeowner in Dec ’14 and did not like the way my existing floors looked. They were damaged and it was an old school oak wood color. I preferred a darker color and something more durable, so I went with the bamboo flooring that Ron had in stock — they were actually running a promo on it in January 2015. Anyways, Ron wasn’t the only company I reached out, but I chose Ron because he didn’t try to sell me on anything. He presented his case and I liked his plan the best and honestly, I am glad I went with him. Other vendors were actually quoting me a higher price but I am so glad that I chose Ron, because he did a phenomenal job on my place. I don’t have pics to post, but Ron is going to showcase it on his new website that he is developing.
Anyways, i would give WoodWorks 6 stars, if I could.

We just got our wood floors installed by Woodworks. Ron was extremely professional and very nice to work with. The price was competitive, but the quality of service far exceeded my expectations. The French oak floor we picked was stuck in the Long Beach port and Ron got to work to get our order so we could meet our deadline.
The floors turned out so beautifully and I don’t think we would have had nearly the same positive experience with any of the seven other wood floor contractors I got bids from.
I would highly recommend Ron and his team to anyone looking for a flooring specialist.

Not very professional. Had to call 6 months later for them to fix a problem and waited an hour after the ETA before they showed up. They didn’t apologize for the problem. And on top of having the issue of t-​molds not laying flat, they took about a week longer than they said to get all our floors finished on the initial installation. It was quite stressful and I wish we’d gone with someone else.

In 2012, Ron was a contracted installer for Wisteria Lane and he installed my bamboo floor. Wisteria did all paperwork and all Ron did was install the floor. He did a good job and I would have rated him high for the install job. He was on the job quite a bit back then to oversee the project.
In 2014 I did an addition to my house and needed my first floor redone with new bamboo. I called Ron up and he told me that he was now in business for himself and is willing to help me select the flooring and do the install. I just didn’t feel Ron was updated on all the flooring available when he told me he was going to various vendors looking for the product I wanted. He did come up with some samples and I made the selection of the 6 foot long boards that were about 6″ wide. The sample was a darker bamboo. When the delivery was made, the planks were about 3 ¾″ wide and the color was lighter than the sample. I rejected the shipment. Ron was not please and neither was I. I was out of town on vacation when his employee called me up (the narrow wood was still in my house awaiting to be removed) when he said they would begin the install on Monday. I told him that the flooring was the wrong width and he said «that’s a bummer» and asked if Monday was still ok to start. What didn’t he get.
When the new flooring finally arrived, Ron said the installation would take a week. My construction was stopped in the house for the flooring to be installed. I had my refrigerator in the middle of the room that needed to be moved around when the flooring went in. Ron said that it was Marrokal Construction’s responsibility to move the refrigerator and not his. I asked him why he can’t move it to the top of the new flooring as he is installing the flooring. He said it was not his job to move refrigerators and he DID NOT HAVE INSURANCE for it and if Marrokal did not move it he would WALK OFF THE JOB! What an unprofessional attitude to have. Even his worker told me he never saw him act like this before and never saw him so mad.
Ron’s invoicing is horrible. He will give you many revised copies. Watch out for numerous invoices. Ask for a final and complete invoice for everything up front. Demo, purchase of product, install and all other misc stuff.
I also needed a stair nose replaced that the construction company damaged and the construction company would pay for it and the install. Ron said he could not find one and was still looking. I asked him why he just didn’t call up Wisteria and get the piece from Hawaii. He has some bitch with them, so I ordered the piece and Marrokal was happy to install it free of charge.
I texted Ron to fix a 45 degree stair nose end cap that fell off. His installer just glued it with no backing to hold it together. Ron said he would send someone over to fix that and to fill up a gap by the front door. This was on 12÷18÷14 and it is now 2÷26÷15 and still no one has come over. THERE IS NO SERVICE AFTER THE INSTALL!
A few other things. Maybe Ron is stretched thin for installers, but when he was in the middle of my install and we had an argument about the refrigerator being moved, he pulled off the installer from my house to do another job even though he said someone would be working at the house. I think this was punishment for the refrigerator incident. He had this young dumb worker here who had to put his grimy hands on my newly painted walls. They had to be repainted. Same for moving plywood around, the ceiling and walls were hit. When I asked Hector why he didn’t cut the wood to get close to the tile in the bathroom, he said the tile was not straight and it was the tile guys fault. I also instructed Ron to make sure the wood flooring next to the lighter kitchen cabinets be a darker wood for contrast. The installer put the lightest ones he could find next to it. They didn’t always clean up at the end of the day either.
Although the flooring is maybe a 4 star install, Ron’s behavior and work ethic is a 1 star!

Ron and Dave are amazing
These are old school guys who just get it. They redid our floor to perfection. From the finish to the color we are so satisfied. Also, in a business where people often over commit and under deliver… Not the case here. Ron sets expectations correctly and delivers to those expectations.

Had Woodworks come and do the stairs and wish I had them do the whole house. Corey was amazing. He is a craftsman beyond reproach. He was on time, was extremely clean and organized, vacuuming as he cut. Made perfect cuts and installation to every piece, patched up all holes. Really a great job. I have used 2 other contractors for floor installation and I know I will be calling THESE guys again! grade A, PERFECT!

I already had a flooring contractor. But, I wanted a engineered exotic wood that was out of my price range. I started calling around myself and ended up talking to David @ WoodWorks.
He order the wood for me at a better price that my flooring contractor could get. He was not put off at all that I had someone else doing the install.
Next, my current installer has not returned to complete the job he was hired to do. I plan on calling David to complete the job. Stay tuned for another review after I contact David again to complete the job… and then we will also use WoodWorks for the rest of our work.

We tried to get three bids and ended up with 4 to install red oak hardwood in an upstairs bedroom. Ron’s bid was not the lowest but seemed the most competent in what he covered and said he would do after looking at the bedroom. We wanted to match existing hardwood in the bedroom and the rest of the house which Ron was able to do. It involved unfinished engineered wood which involves skill and patience to install and finish.
The installation was done by Ruben and he did it in 7 days which was perfect. Ruben was punctual, told us what he was going to do, did it and kept me informed via text when his schedule changed. That was much appreciated. Ruben did a great job and we are very pleased with the results. Also, Ruben was very meticulous about cleaning up and left the installation spotless.
I would highly recommend Ron and WoodWorks and will use them in the future.

My husband and I were blown away when we saw Ron’s finished work — -it’s amazing. Ron is super friendly, flexible and obviously passionate about his work. We just bought this home and were initially hesitant to purchase it because the floors seemed so scratched– now the floors that Ron worked on look brand new! When we get around to refinishing the rest of the rooms we are definitely going to call Ron!!!

What a great experience. I self-​installed hardwood flooring in our house and thought I could do the stairs myself as well. I finished 95% of it but the bottom step was curved and I knew I would need a pro. I called Ron, gave him a little background and he asked me to e-​mail him some photos. I was surprised at how well we were able to communicate via e-​mail. He was quick AND thorough in his responses. So a few e-​mails later we had an estimate for the job and an opening at the end of the week.
Fast forward to the install — everything went smooth and the final product was perfect. Hector (came with Ron) even removed some boards that had some rough edges (poor cuts by me), cut new ones and installed to make sure everything looked clean. Awesome.
Couldn’t be happier and I’m recommending these guys to everyone.

WoodWorks exceeds expectations. I love these guys and will recommend them to all of my friends. David went above and beyond to give us amazing floors at an outstanding price. He was straight forward and professional and did not try to pressure us with aggressive sales tactics.
My wife and I met David and Ron at the Home and Garden Show. I told David that I was thinking of installing wood floors myself and was trying to get a feel for the complexity of the job. David was friendly and polite and answered all of my questions. He even said I could call him for advice if I decided to choose the DIY route. I got such a great vibe during our interaction that I asked him to provide us with an estimate for our dining room.
David came by the following week and took measurements. The estimate he provided was extremely customer friendly; it was itemized by room, further broken down between materials, labor and demo. We liked his prices but still wanted to shop around. In the end, we hired WoodWorks to install the floors but we bought the wood from Lumber Liquidators and did the demo ourselves.
Dave and Ron installed our floors today and we couldn’t be happier with their work. We already have plans to use them on the family room and kitchen as soon as we save up!
