Established in 2009.

I enjoy working with people and sharing my many years of experience and knowledge of construction. People appreciate my approach, which is honest, independent and friendly, and I take time to answer your questions. I encourage your active participation in the enitre home inspection process, before, during and after.

My home inspector certifications include: ASHI Certified Inspector, CREIA Certified Inspector and ICC Certified Residential Plumbing Inspector and ICC Certified Residential Electrical Inspector.

Best and friendliest inspection service we have ever worked with. Thomas was patient with all our questions and very communicative about all important topics throughout the inspection process. He has the experience and and social skills to do the job right. On top of Thomas service we had the pleasure to work with Barbara, who walked us through all details before and after the inspection. I called based on all the wonderful reviews and spoke to Thomas to get a quote for an inspection so we can close on our new house. We had a lengthy conversation and I was given a quote and his availability. I told him I’d call him right back so I could confirm with my husband that he could be there. When I called back 10 minutes later a woman picked up and told me that that time slot was no longer available and that based on the building they wouldn’t be able to do an exterior inspection (which I was told the roof and foundation would be fine to check by Thomas after I gave him a description of the building and it’s access and after he google imaged searched it as well). Pretty disappointing…

Thomas is the most thorough inspector I have worked with by far. He’s honest, patient, and explains everything in detail so that my clients and I feel at ease. He will go above and beyond for you as long as conditions are safe. As nerve-​wracking as inspections can be, Thomas is a calming presence throughout the process. I can’t say enough about how awesome Thomas from Vista Inspections is. He spent over four hours doing a walkthrough with me, patiently explaining details of the house and what were the most important areas of need. Vista’s front office manager was also incredibly helpful. Trustworthy folks to hire, and I would recommend them to a friend without hesitation.

It was a pleasure working with Thomas during the inspection for a house I was purchasing. He was very thorough, spending about two hours at the property checking every part of the structure for all kinds of defects. He carefully and patiently explained details of issues to me and how I could go about correcting them. I’ve worked with a couple of inspectors in the past who were ok but not nearly as patient or thorough. I would definitely recommend Thomas.

I was buying a house and the seller had already done a home inspection. They gave me the report, which seemed to be okay. I decided to have my own inspection done anyway, and I am really glad that I did. I called Vista and Barbara answered the phone, so I was able to make an appointment right away. Thomas, the home inspector, arrived right on time, and he was very detailed. He went into the crawl space, and all over the house, and he explained a lot of things about the house to me in a clear and friendly way. And boy, did he find things that the first home inspector did not. One or two of them were significant. I originally thought that I would be wasting my money, but I was totally wrong because the things he found were very important to me. I would use Vista again in a heartbeat.
I have now been living in the house, and the inspection was right on. There were no surprises and I really feel that I knew what I was buying.

We were on a very strict time table with the purchase of our new home & I called and left a message for Vista Inspection Services late on a Sunday night in early June, trying to schedule a roof inspection either the next day or Tuesday at the latest. I explained our urgency, crossed my fingers and hung up hoping that whoever answered would be able to get back to me in a timely manner. What I got in return was far more than I expected :).
Barbara called me first thing in the morning (so as not to waste my time) and unfortunately informed me that they do not service the particular area that my home is in. She then gave me a list of companies that she personally recommended along with contact names for specific individuals whom I should ask for that could help me in my area. Then, since I am a first time homeowner, she proceeded to educate me in what to watch out for to avoid being taken advantage of, how to negotiate the best price for a job, how to determine if the quote being given is fair & how to decide which quote would be the best one to go with. The amount of time and care that she spent teaching me some of the very basic in’s & out’s of working with contractors was priceless to me: she shared her wisdom both kindly and unstintingly, without any personal gain to herself. She truly surpassed my expectations of Excellent Customer Service by being a *real* person who took that extra step to care about my problem.
If you are in the SF Peninsula and surrounding area, I hope that you are lucky enough to work with Barbara & Vista Inspection Services!

Thomas was a joy to work with. His obvious love for educating new home owners on how to understand the different components of their home made this a great experience.
Thomas was really flexible and came out to the home with only a few days notice. And it was his birthday! I know, we’re terrible people for asking Thomas to work on his birthday. But he just loves what he does and so I don’t think he minded :)
In summary, Thomas was incredibly thorough, explained everything clearly, and was fun to talk to. We cannot recommend him enough!

I cannot say enough good things about Thomas and Barbara! We hired them to do our home inspection when we bought our house, and we hired them again when we went to sell it because they did such a tremendous job. Their inspection process itself is extremely thorough and the report they repair is extremely easy to understand. Furthermore, they will take the time to walk you through all of the issues.
Moreover, my sense is that both Thomas and Barbara see their work as more than a paycheck: to them, their work is important and their work matters, and thus they work extremely hard to be thorough and accurate. We are now trying to buy a house in Pittsburgh, and Thomas even took the time to go through the inspection report for the a house in Pittsburgh (to help us understand what was going on with the house). We are just sad that we couldn’t fly him out to Pittsburgh to inspect that house!
In sum, even if they cost a bit more, their services are well worth it.

Barbara and Thomas are some of the best people to work with ever. Barbara called us before the inspection and painstakingly explained the whole process and what to expect. She also educated us a lot about what to watch out for and whom to contact in case of major repairs.
Thomas is the most professional but also the most empathetic inspector. He was extremely thorough going through our historical home in Redwood City. Despite of the myriad problems the house has, he was extremely patient and went through all the details and taught us a lot in the process.
It’s rare to work with people so amazing that I feel very moved by how much they helped us. Even the listing and buying agents were super impressed and all of us would recommend them without any hesitation.

Tom and Barbara from Vista inspection services did the inspection of my first home in late September. Barbara was very responsive and I was able to schedule a time on a very short notice since I was in the contingency period already.
Tom is absolutely fantastic! He is very knowledgeable, detail oriented, professional and very friendly. He took the time to inspect the whole house and walked us through every detail and issue that he flagged. He was spot on about the age of the roof on my house!
Since the inspection, I have contacted Tom and Barbara on a couple of occasions about questions and suggestions about my house and on each occasion they have been very accommodating. Tom even took the time to guide me through the options at the local Home depot store. What a wonderful gesture!
I will not hesitate for a second to use vista inspection in the future. Highly recommend them!

Thanks, Thomas & Barbara. Their service is so good! Barbara basically gave me a 40 mins phone call to tell me all stuff I need do before purchase a house. It’s super useful! Also Thomas checked house so carefully, he didn’t even charge me any money once I had to cancel it after first hour of inspection. Whenever I need house inspection, I’ll always call them! I couldn’t imagine a better home inspector. Thomas is incredibly thorough and is extremely good at explaining issues/​problems. He is also a very nice person who really cares about his clients.
His reports are very well written and make things crystal clear. There also is no boilerplate. It all was perfectly relevant to the house we were evaluating.
I’d worked with other home inspectors in the past but they weren’t on Thomas’ level, both in terms of expertise or helpfulness.
Vista was also highly responsive and helped us deal with a very tight time-​line. Barbara (Thomas’ wife) was very informative about the inspection and home buying process and they went out of their way to be available to us.

Thomas and Barbara! WOW. What a great team!
We were in the process of buying a house and wanted an inspection done, even though another company did an inspection on the house in March. We had until Tuesday to remove all the contingencies and I called them on Friday to see if they could come out. They were booked for the weekend initially. Luckily, someone cancelled and we made an arrangement for Thomas to come out on Sunday.
That Friday night, after signing the inspection agreement, Barbara spent over an hour going over everything we needed to know about buying a house plus some more. She gave motherly real estate advice with «it’s okay, everything will be okay» statements and we appreciated that. She told us how the inspection process was going to be like with Thomas as well and it will take about 3 – 4 hours.
We showed up at the house at 850 or so and Thomas was there already for our 9 o’clock appointment! He said he was there earlier and inspected the exterior already. He took the time to go over the exterior with us, then resumed his inspection of the interior. And then he went over his findings with us. Mind you that my dad was there and asked him all sort of questions and he answered everything without hesitations. He knew that we wanted the report right away and sent us the report the same night!!! Overall, I felt he was genuinely caring and knowledgeable! And PROMPT, which is one of the biggest requirements in this rush/​hot market!
Unfortunately, we didn’t buy the house because the house was right under neath SFO take off path. I will reuse Thomas again for our future purchase.
