When you schedule an appointment with us for a free in-​house consultation and estimate, we will bring a complete selection of samples, measure your windows, and provide expert advice on product features and advantages to ensure that you have all the information you need to make the right decision. When your order is ready, we do all the installation work, including any cleanup. J.M. Wheeler is a family-​owned business that has served the Bay Area for over 20 years. We offer the highest quality custom shutters and many other window treatments, including the full line of Hunter Douglas Window Coverings.

Jeff Wheeler, our installer, is a fully licensed and bonded finish carpenter by trade. He has worked with over 70 designers and 40 realtors in the Bay Area and is well known for quality installations that reflect exacting attention to detail.

This is our second time working with JM Wheeler and as was the case before, we had a great experience with Jeff and Michele. Michele returned our call promptly to setup an appointment to measure the windows. We received the window coverings fairly quickly even though it was the holiday season and Michele scheduled Jeff to come out as soon as the blinds had arrived. Jeff uses a special pair of indoor shoes and kept our newly finished hardwood floors pristine while he quickly installed the Silhouettes. Everything fit perfectly! Michele was also very diligent about getting us the rebate form since we qualified for a rebate. If we ever need window coverings again we would definitely go back to JM Wheeler!

This company installed wood blind shutters for my entire house and to summarize they did a fantastic job. Attention to details and great communication as well as being on time made everything even better. Jeff is a great person and very pleasant to work with. I have a very large and uniquely shaped window facing my street. JM Wheeler was able to deliver beautiful shutters that fit my window perfectly and give me complete privacy control. It took a little while for these custom shutters to be completed and installed, but I am completely happy with the result. They did a great job with installation and clean up!

Jeff and Michele are awesome! We found them online and based on some great online reviews, we decided to reach out. Michele was prompt in her response back to us and We were schedule Jeff to come out to an estimate right away. When Jeff arrived, he was very friendly and professional. We had some custom windows (one being over 115″ wide). Jeff meticulously measure multiple points across the width to make sure that the custom made to order shutters would fit. After the measurement was completed, the quote we received was very reasonable and we went ahead and order them. We were told that it would about 10 weeks for the shutters to be made and shipped. We actually get them early and Jeff arrive early afternoon on a Friday and by 4pm we had shutters installed on all our street facing windows. The windows were made to fit exactly and they look awesome! Thanks again Michele and Jeff for the service! Highly recommended!

After a prompt and pleasant email exchange, on Sept 23 Michele came out to our home. She was very nice and friendly. We discussed options for our window treatments. We found Michele to be very knowledgeable and provided advice with well articulated pros and cons of the choices. She was candid about which options would be pricier than others and was very open to purchases being made over time to accommodate any budget constraints.
She sent a quote back quickly, which I was unable to respond to until about 2 weeks later. Of course, in my reply confirming that we would like to move forward, I asked for an installation prior to a party we are hosting. At the time Michele was unable to confirm but assured me she would do her best. Low and behold, Michele sent me an email saying the blinds would arrive on Friday and Jeff could install them on Monday — a full week and a half plus ahead of what I had asked!
Jeff arrived on time yesterday and installed all of the blinds — I didn’t realize how time consuming of a project that was! Jeff was fun and professional, he also cleaned up and didn’t leave me annoyed with any mess. The blinds look amazing, each one operates easily — and they fit perfectly. Michele’s measurements, including on a custom blind which required notches out of the bottom half to accommodate the tile in the kitchen, are perfection!
Additionally, I received an email from Michele recently saying she put a rebate form in the mail for me — all I had to do was fill it out and send it in. And it has arrived, with the receipt already attached and a copy for my records.
I call this full-​service at its best! Thanks Michele & Jeff!

Installed Hunter Douglas blinds on 4 windows in our home. Michelle did a great job making design suggestions I had requested, such as which blinds she recommends for a window that has heavy sun exposure. All the blinds were measured and installed in an excellent fashion, they look wonderful in our home.

On September 7, 2015, JM Wheeler Window Coverings installed custom wood shutters on a large picture window (94″ x 57″). They are an extremely easy company to work with. Jeff came out to measure and explain what options were available to us. He is very knowledgeable.
He was the one who returned to remove the old shutters and to install my new ones. His measurements were spot on and the product was exactly as explained. He was very thorough, clean, and professional.
I must say JEff and Michelle were quite a bit lower in price for basically the same product from two other companies I received quotes from and I am THRILLED with my shutters.

I haven’t had Jeff and Michelle complete my quote for shutters yet, BUT, I feel that my initial contact with them was worth getting a review started. I emailed asking if they would be willing to quote me for shutters on all of my windows (17 total), knowing that I could only afford to place a couple at a time. Michelle replied back the next day and didn’t hesitate to set up an appointment on a specific day/​time that would work for my work/​school schedule (basically a 2 hour window — excuse the pun — on Friday afternoons!) I can’t wait to have them out and get started on my project. I’ll post an update once we’ve had some work completed.

I recently remodeled my house and hired JM Wheeler to install window treatments for my whole house, including: wood shutters, fabric shades, and sliding glass door vertical blinds. The project included wood shutters for custom raked windows in my living room and master bedroom. I found the service responsive and the quality of materials and installation excellent.
I received a response from Michelle within four hours of my initial email query. Jeff came out a few days later to take measurements and discuss options for the shutters. Michelle came afterword to discuss options for the sliding glass door and linen shades. Both were professional and fun to work with. Everything was done in a timely manner. The only delay was caused by a backlog at the factory working on the custom shutters. The installation was flawless.
It has been a year since the installation and the window coverings have been a pleasure to have and use. Many of my neighbors have mentioned how much they like the look both inside and out. My remodeling contractor, on a visit, also remarked on how well the shutters looked.
I am very happy with the work done by JM Wheeler and they have my wholehearted recommendation.

I just got shutters installed in my condo, they look amazing and completely transformed every room! The entire process was so easy and hassle free. I requested a quote on the website and had an email reply in less than 24 hours and Jeff came over that Saturday to measure the windows and brought sample shutters to help me make a decision. After I placed my order Michele kept me updated via email on the status of the delivery. Once they were delivered Jeff was able to install them the very next day! Just in time for a party I was having!

I found JM Wheeler because of their good Unilocal reviews, and I am happy to highly recommend them. Their quality and customer service is top-​notch. Michelle is very knowledgeable and pays attention to detail. Jeff does an excellent job of installing and making sure it is perfect. We have three blinds that need to be restrung. I emailed JM. A little later in the day I received a response from Michelle telling me they only do repairs on Hunter Douglas blinds. Sadly, mine are not. BUT! the story does not end there! Michelle not only sent me the name of another company, she sent me a link on how to do it myself. LOVE IT! It is so nice to have a company go the extra distance. She could have told me no and dropped the issue but she didn’t! Woo hoo! Love to know there are still some good people out there. I would send her boss a message telling how helpful she has been but she is the ‘M’ in JM Wheeler! Michelle~if you are reading this~thank you! I appreciate the time you took to give me info. :o)

Looking for window covering for all window for a LG home and decided to try JM Wheeler based on the positive Unilocal reviews (which I have always lived by). After leaving an email 24 hours ago, and calling 5 times from 6⁄22 through 6⁄23 and disappointed to only receive a automated voicemail message, I have decided this is the worst costumer service and that a sure sign they would be the last on my list to hire. If they can’t be responsive to acquire a new client, what do they do to existing clients!

We used JM Wheeler when we first moved into our house to install vertical blinds on a very large sliding glass door, and then again to replace café shutters in our kitchen with full sized split rail shutters. I didn’t bother to get other estimates on the vertical blinds since I knew exactly what I wanted, but I did get estimates with the shutters. I am very pleased with both sets of window coverings. Michele was super easy to deal with, responsive, and kept me informed. Jeff did a great job on installation, especially with the shutters; he pulled the old ones off, patched some holes, and did the installation the next day, so we had time to paint the patches.
The vertical blinds were installed exactly on time; the shutters took a bit longer because they got caught up in the dock strikes, and sat on a ship for a while. But we are really happy with our window coverings, and wouldn’t go to anyone else if we need more in the future!

Friendly, timely, nice product (good quality) and reasonably priced. I had a great experience, even though it was shopping for boring shutters. Jim is super customer oriented and friendly. He installed them in under a couple of hours for our front windows. Overall, I would use them again. Thank you!
