Monique’s Draperies and Shades is run by Caroline Small. Our shop was first opened in 1963 by Caroline’s mother. To this day, we have carried her vision for providing you with thoughtful, professional design help for your window covering projects. We take great joy in adopting new methods of using technology in the design process and our customers are continually excited to see what innovative technique we’re using to help throughout the decorating process. At Monique’s Draperies and Shades, we are particularly proud of the programs we have developed to assist you in measuring and rendering your design ideas.

My parents have used Monique’s for years. When we needed shutters for our vacation home, we went to check them out. Carolyn helped us and came to our home to do measurements. We did comparisons for pricing and Monique’s prices were very competitive. The shutters were installed ahead of schedule and they look great! We can’t be happier. We’ll definitely recommend them to all of our friend and will us them again.

We used Monique’s for custom drapes for our new home. We were happy with the quality of the product but they really lacked in the follow-through. Deliveries were not as promised or as scheduled, additional parts had to be ordered with great delay and there was little to no communication from them. We had to constantly be on top of them for information. Which is something with you should not have to do when you pay top dollar for a service (they were the most expensive company we researched).

Acting on a recommendation, I spent all of 3 minutes in Monique’s before leaving. The woman I spoke to was unhelpful, discourteous, and argumentative, all because I mentioned I was working with a designer. She kept insisting that most people come to the store with their designers. No matter how many times I reiterated that I was here **by myself** to look at some Hunter Douglas offerings, she kept repeating herself like a broken record and showed no interest in showing me anything without my designer. I felt entirely unwelcome in this store. I’ll never set foot in this place again.

What a great group of people. From the moment I walked into the store they were very friendly, helpful and professionals. The shades of one of my clients was not working properly. Apparently one of my employees had damaged the mechanism that pools the shades up and down. I took them to Monique’s and within minutes they were able to locate the information of my client, who purchased the shades 3 years ago. They new exactly the type of shades they were, the dimensions and the manufacture. I did explain the situation and they offer to help, send the shades to the manufacture for repair and the best thing was … Free of charge. I was pleasantly surprise by that because very few people or companies will do that now a days … specially after 3 years. To make the story short 5 days later they called me let me know that the shades where back at the store. I took the shades, installed them back and my client is happy. Next time I need Drapes or Shades my first stop will be Monique’s. Great job at keeping records, keeping current clients happy and impressing possible clients with great customer service. I am very happy with the service received. Thank you!

Interestingly, there were some glitches along the way, the biggest one was not getting the correct order. The reason I am giving 5 stars is due to my experience of the glitches being handled with complete professionalism, total responsibility for the error, going over the top to get me the right shades (which was important because I was opening a new office) and, most of all, getting shades that fit perfectly (which wasn’t the case with another company I used for my home). Mistakes happen but when you work with a company that doesn’t blame you and remains friendly — its all you can ask for.

My experience with Monique’s was great — I purchased a battery-operated skylight blind.
I had only one contact at the store, Jaye, from beginning to end, which I feel made the process much smoother. She came to my home multiple times, was very knowledgeable, and made sure she helped me get exactly the right product.
It took longer than expected to finally receive the skylight blind, due to unforeseen complications from the manufacturer, but Jaye made sure to keep me updated on the progress the entire time. It was frustrating having to wait, but because I felt I was in good hands, I didn’t panic. Another plus was not having to deal directly with the manufacturer.
In the end the product is a perfect fit, and I will do business with Monique’s again.
