Where do I start?
I was in the process of completely redoing my backyard and started with the pool system complete new equipment, plumbing and electrical a 10,000 plus job. I decided to go with South Bay Water Tech because it was a smaller business and Ben was contracted. Well I will be brief, the system set up did not work, pumps noisy because of plumbing not done correctly, then lights and electrical problems and Ben did not know what he was doing and called an electrician. I explained to Ben what was wrong with the plumbing and he re-​did what I asked and it finally worked. Then came the programming of the Hayward Omnilogic control board and that was done wrong and did not function properly. I called Ben and emailed and no response, I guess this system was over his expertise. Finally I contacted Hayward factory direct and they sent down a tech and support person and now it is finally working and I understand the system. To recap very poor workmanship and no follow up after paying 10,000 dollars for a system. I guess cleaning a pool is easier for big jobs look somewhere else!

Ben was very responsive and quick to get an appointment with. He worked very quickly to diagnose the problem with our pool heater. I would recommend him!

Woohoo indeed! I have a Kohler bathroom tub with jacuzzi jets which stopped working years ago. I called Kohler, searched on line, visited a few plumbing shops in the area, called a few different «recommended» plumbers, etc. over the years. Even with all of the manuals in my possession, I got the run-​around. «It’s old, this or that may not work, it’s going to cost $$$$, we can’t find the parts, etc., etc.»
Thanks to Unilocal,I then found SBWT and Ben and everything changed. Ben was flexible on scheduling, showed up on time, and assessed my situation. He called Kohler as well and got the same run-​around as I did. He then recommended some alternative options compared to the Kohler advice of paying $ 300 for an outdated board that may or may not work. His recommendation was a up-​to-​date $ 45 controller switch which I found on Amazon.
We make another appointment, Ben shows up on time, and gets the project done in the amount of time he said it would take! I now can’t wait to take a long bike ride tomorrow and come home and soak in my jacuzzi tub.
Dependable, professional, affordable, knowledgeable! Highly recommended!

Ben has repaired the spa and pool equipment at my dad’s house and done a great job! He replaced a circuit board and heater for our spa, and the motor for our pool, he’s also fixed our pool sweeper. He keeps his appointments, communicates the issues well, and his prices are competitive. I would highly recommend him.

We had a challenging pool to say the least, old, large and with many problems. Ben did a good job at mechanical solutions, plumbing and repair.
When we ran into problems, Ben would set expectations that were unrealistic («I will have the pool fixed in a couple of days»), set appointments and not show up, and ultimately let the pool slide back into a worse condition. Ultimately, he grew frustrated with our increased issues and the level of involvement required by him and dropped our service. I would have gladly accepted an additional cost or up charge to deal with the issues before they got worse.
My sense is that Ben is just one individual and has his schedule packed tight. He has no ability to internalize a problem, has no team and no backup when things go bad

Ben has been cleaning and servicing my pool and spa for about 3 yrs it’s always blue now and we don’t have a problem anymore! He always show’s up when he says he’ll be there. He’s super smart when it comes to the filter systems!

I still like Ben and its unfortunate I have to write a worse review.
First I still do recommend him if you need service on your pump or something similar he does good job. Also if your pool is green he does a great job at getting it back to blue again.
His monthly maintenance though is not that great. When he first started out the pool looked great for a couple of months, but as it approached the 4^th of July he did not come for a couple weeks and the pool was starting to look in bad shape. We finally had to call him to come out which he did and he got things back to normal again. He tried to charge us for a whole month but we had to remind him he only came 2 weeks.
Finally he sold off the route we were on to someone who seemed to have no idea what he was doing when it comes to monthly maintenance. In only the first month with the new guy our pool turned green. The new guy charged us full price which we probably should not have paid, and he added a lot of extras with out consulting us. I know this is not Ben’s fault but who he sells the business to reflects on him some.
Bottom line if you have issues with the electronics on your pool or need a clean up of it Ben does a good job and I would recommend him. I would not trust his monthly service since it can be unreliable and you can’t trust he will not sell it off to someone else who has no idea what they are doing down the line.

Ben is not a professional. He replaced my old filter with a new one but in the end, my pump overheat. So I have to replace the pump. My cost is doubled.

I called Sparkle Pools to fix my hot tub. Ben repaired the pump and replaced the heater. The job was done quickly and at a fair price. I highly recommend Sparkle Pools.

My pool was a mess with another company causing even my new pool equipment to break down due to poor chemical management. Once I finally realized this I found Ben at Sparkle Pools through Unilocal and he totally transformed my pool in just a few visits. He continues to be very available any time I call with questions and is reliable and on time.
Keep it local! Ben at Sparkle Pools is amazing. If you want customer service through the roof AND stellar pool care skills, this is your pool guy!

I recently moved to a home with a strange built in Spa it is a mini Pool per say with all the equipment a large pool would need.
I called around a few places but decided to go with Ben who was the first call I made based on the Unilocal reviews. By far it was the best choice I have made. He has taken that worry completely off my mind comes weekly and takes an interest in his work as if it was his own home which in my eyes is extremely rare. More importantly he is honest reliable and the spa looks fantastic :-) We started when it was in the semi green stage.
I highly recommend Ben for any pool/​spa service needs and equipment maintenance which I am sure not too many people like me have a clue where to begin.

Ben replaced an electrical panel on pool pump. Promised to return to finish, but did not. Also job quoting was not up front and accurate. Not too reliable on timings for work.
Otherwise seemed knowledgeable and efficient with work.

I called Sparkle Pools because my fountain stopped working and I couldn’t get the water pressure to even out.
Ben set an appointment with me and came on time. He knew I had a time constraint so he brought all the tools and items the thought he would need. He finished the job in the time that the stated and had everything cleaned up and looking great.
He even hauled off the old broken water filter.
I really appreciated his nice demeanor and his communication skills. Whenever I called, I got a call back. Whenever I e-​mailed him with question, I would get an e-​mail back that same day or the next day.
When I got the invoice he crossed off the items he quoted me but he didn’t use. I felt like it really showed his good character.
I would use them again and would recommend them to others.

Thanks Unilocalers for your reviews. My pool filter lost suction & I couldn’t figure out why. I found Sparkle Pools on Unilocal & called right away, left a message. He called back immediately and within 2 hours, arrived & fixed the issue. Can’t say enough about quick, efficient, and friendly service! I would use them again in a heartbeat!

I was having trouble getting service on my spa. I was on the road and saw the truck for Sparkle Pools Service. I call and Ben says, «no problem, I will come over and give you a look right now since I am so close». He dove right in and started running all these tests. I’m thinking he is going to come up with some crazy price and part change scenario. He found the problem and fixed it on the spot and it didn’t cost a ton. Nice guy and great service!

This place was a lifesaver!
My spa wasn’t working properly anymore so I had went out and purchased a new pump for it. I tried hooking it up myself but it didn’t seem to be working right. At this point I was unsure whether it was the pump or the circuit board that was bad in the first place.
Not wanting to potentially waste any more money trying to fix this, I found Sparkle Pools in Craigslist and gave them a call. The next day, Ben showed up and did some troubleshooting, fixed my improper setup of the new pump, and the spa was working again! The price was very fair as well.
Hopefully my spa doesn’t break again in the future but if it does it’s good to know I’ve found someone that actually knows what they’re talking about as opposed to some chain store that’s trying to rip me off.

Our Spa pump motor was going bad (bearings) and we engaged Ben from Sparkle Pools to take a look at it and and repair. It was not the usual «We’ll come and charge $ 200 for taking a look and give you and estimate». He just came and we talked through all options at hand. Ben is very knowledgeable, obviously knows his stuff and got the job done quickly and efficiently. And yes, I do expect that it’s technically flawless and professional. I will give and extra star to Ben for providing a proactive service and communication that has been become very rare. He called multiple times to provide an update about the availability of the pump, the status of the repair and checking on timing for coming back.
Highly recommended.

Ben is very professional and friendly. He is fair priced and reasonable. Had an issue with the plumbing of my new pool pump and Ben made sure to come back and take care of it. Highly recommended. Don’t waste your money on the franchise pool stores.
