Ken Taylor’s Carpet & Flooring

Ken Taylor carpets were amazing! My wife and I own three rental properties and deal with renovation and repair work a lot. Ken was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We chose Ken based on a referral. He is one of the only flooring companies that carries this high end laminate flooring that looks like real wood called Karndean.
What I enjoyed most about working with Ken is the fact he is constantly communicating with us at every step in the process. In addition, he made sure to help us complete the project for things that were not flooring related. For example, there are a number of smaller projects that can fall through the cracks such as painting and carpentry work that make a big difference in how the floors look. Ken took the initiative to help us button it up the small details of the project and made it look great.

Ken Taylor Carpet was fantastic. As extremely busy professionals Ken Taylor Carpets was very professional and easy to deal with. They installed luxury vinyl tile and new carpet throughout our home.
Gary and his team did an amazing job installing the LVT and carpet. Before Gary started the installation he explained that the LVT was lower than the laminate he was removing and thus the threshold would be lower so once they reinstalled our baseboards we would need to touch up paint. We have a bay window with plantation shutters and it has always looked a little unfinished. Gary took it upon himself to purchase baseboards that matched our existing and install it across this section and the outcome is stunning.

My husband and I were very impressed with Ken Taylor carpet and flooring. We’re very pleased with the results, and thought the men that he works with did an exceptional job with the crown molding, molding, electrical and painting. For instance: instead of tearing out our door frames because we had a half inch of open space between the door frame and the floor with the new flooring, one of his guys painstakingly cut out pieces like a puzzle to fit under the door frame. It saved us a lot of money. I would highly recommend using Ken Taylor carpet and flooring. Ken is friendly, a reasonable, meticulous and thorough.

This business just finished installing Laminated wood and it came out beautiful. I’m very happy and satisfied. The installer was very professional and talented.

We are first time homeowners and were looking forward to renovating our house and making it our own. We decided to go with Ken Taylor’s Carpet & Flooring to do our floors because they carried Karndean luxury vinyl plank flooring (LVPs).
The floor renovation process started out great, but everything went downhill fast. Particularly, the customer service when we tried to get them to complete unfinished work after we had paid them. The only reason why they are getting a star, instead of half a star (or less) is because the latter is not an option on Unilocal.
Prior to the floor installation, Ken came to our house to do the measurements, and at that time, he asked us to go to Home Depot to buy a new threshold for the door. When asked for specifics, Ken told us to buy the exact same threshold as the existing one. So we did — well in advance of the floor installation to make sure there were no delays. It turns out, Ken gave us the wrong information, but more about that later…
Ken’s employees came to our house on the agreed upon dates and worked on the project. Our main contact at that point was Gary — one of Ken’s employees who installed our floors. As soon as they were «finished» with the installation, we received a call from Gary letting us know that they were done, and that we needed to pay them. We paid them over the phone, before we had a chance to inspect the finished product… rookie mistake on our part! When we got home and finally saw the «finished» product, we realized the project had not been completed as discussed. The threshold had not been replaced and there were several gaps between the new floors and the casing.
Below are some of the pictures we took… Despite receiving two calls from Gary requesting payment, at no time were we told about the issue with the gaps. With respect to the threshold, Gary told us that he’d be back tomorrow (Wednesday) to replace the threshold since we apparently did not buy the correct one — even though we bought the exact same threshold as the existing one, per Ken. [since the threshold issue was not fixed, we had a big gap between the door and the floor, which allowed bugs to fly inside our house]
Gary never came back on Wednesday to replace the threshold, despite his promise. We followed up with both Ken and Gary, but never received a set date and time for either of them to come to our house to replace the threshold and to see what could be done about the gaps. After several follow-​ups on our end, Ken finally agreed to come back to our house to inspect the «finished» product. For the first time, Ken mentioned that replacing the threshold was not included in the project, but that he would do it for $ 100, and fix one of the gaps on the wall. Ken also told us for the first time that we had to buy another piece in order for him to install the threshold. Since we had a hard time getting in touch with both him and Gary, we asked Ken when he would return to complete the job we hired him for. He responded either Tuesday or Wednesday. It’s now several days past Wednesday (i.e. it’s been more than a week), and we still have not heard from him. At this point, we do not expect to hear from him, and we’ve decided to cut our losses (we ended up hiring another contractor to take on the project, and yes, more money out of our pocket, but we’d rather go with that route than give Ken Taylor more of our hard earned money).
We understand that unexpected things come up during the renovation process, but there is no excuse for extremely bad customer service.
Based on our negative experience, we felt obligated to write this review so that other people who are going through the renovation process do not make the same mistake and save themselves from the grief, headaches and financial stress…

Service was amazing! Owner Ken Taylor is perfectly genius– helped remodel every inch of my historic home. Brought the life back into the house, with class and pizzazz.

That is the word I would use to describe my experience working with Ken and all of his employees at the family owned and operated floor covering store in down town Santa Ana. Everyone was very helpful and knowledgeable. Ken helped me pick the perfect hard wood and carpet for my new home. Plus his installers have been working with him over 20 years. They are polite, clean and honest. All in all a very positive experience!!!

This place is awesome! They have everything you could want in flooring except concrete or dirt. They are quick and fast with delivery and installation! Get it on and get it done.

Worked around my schedule, quick install, carpet looks great. Great service… would highly recommend!!!
