History

Established in 1986.

I founded the concept of resale in 1963 when at a club one evening, I looked around at all the women in gorgeous dresses, and thought:

«What do they do with these clothes when they’re finished wearing them?» Soon, I was providing an answer to that question by opening a store in which women could sell their «gently worn» items, and pick up some cash to buy more. It worked for the sellers and the buyers were equally delighted, and a thriving resale market was launched.

Many of the clothes were bought and worn originally by Sharon Stone, Cindy Crawford, Natalie Cole, Meg Ryan, Mimi Rogers and Sally Field, among many others. We have suits and dresses, evening gowns and wraps, coats and boots, handbags, shoes, sweaters, skirts — all from the most storied designers.

It’s no wonder resale has become the preferred shopping style not only for those who cannot afford such luxuries but also for those who can readily afford them.

Maureen Clavin pioneered the concept of the designer resale store some 35 years ago when she opened her first resale boutique in Los Angeles. A California native raised on a street above the Château Marmont Hotel, Maureen came of age during the fabulous 40s — the Golden Age of Hollywood glamour — when every woman aspired to look and dress like a movie star!

She went on to UCLA, where she studied fashion merchandising, and after graduation, joined one of LA’s most popular specialty retail chains.

She regularly has access to the closets of top celebrities, wives of Hollywood’s producers, directors and other elite. Through the years, she has bought clothes from notables including, Sally Field, Lisa Hartman Black, Jennifer Tilly, Joan Collins, Victoria Principal, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Natalie Wood, Rosalind Russell, Natalie Cole, Jackie Collins, Geena Davis, Sharon Stone, Cheryl Tiegs, Lionel Ritchie, Jacklyn Smith, and Mimi Rogers. The Stars’ portion of proceeds goes to their favorite charities
