The Seattle market is so hot and tough right now, and it’s frustrating to try to buy a home in this market. I am glad that John was there to help me through this process. John worked very closely with me for the entire three months where we viewed over 75+ properties. He is very knowledge with the ins and outs of a home, the material and the structure, the pricing and competitiveness of each neighborhood. We often worked late nights together to formulate bidding strategies and to draft out our offers. What I like about John is his honesty — he would let me know when he think the asking price is unreasonable, or that certain homes are not fitting to my character/​lifestyle, instead of pushing me to close deals that I am not 100% sure of. Thanks to John, I found my perfect home now in Ballard! And he is more than a broker, he has become my friend and I am very thankful for all his help!

My wife and I retained John and worked with him for eight months in an absolutely brutal market for buyers. He navigated us through countless showings and wrote at least ten offers, never once pushing us to concede terms that were out of our comfort zone. In an atmosphere of multiple offers and contingency waivers, his patient counsel is priceless.
When he found our dream home, a gorgeous 4/2.5 designed by its only owner, he pulled out all the stops to win in a situation where our offer wasn’t even the highest on the table!

John is a very knowledgeable, professional and meticulous realtor! After purchasing a townhome with him last year, he helped us with the purchase of another home this year for my parents. I strongly believe that his rapport and professionalism with the listing agent was pivotal in the purchase of my parents’ home in the midst of multiple competing, and potentially stronger, offers. He is also extremely handy and has been able to educate us on the basics of what we should know about electrical, plumbing, etc. I strongly recommend John to anyone who wishes to purchase or sell a home. John O’Brien from the University Village office worked with me to sell and purchase a home. He is the best of the best and I recommend him to anyone who is wanting to buy or sell real estate. I’m a very detailed person and John was right there to let me know what was going to happen, how things worked and what we could do to help the process. He was totally on top of it and made sure everything was done in my best interest. I cannot say enough good things about John O’Brien! We just bought our first house and he was incredibly accessible and knowledgeable the whole time. We are talking last minute late Friday nights in West Seattle, Sunday nights after concerts, he was ALWAYS there for us and always willing to answer any question and walk us through every step of the process. He knows his stuff too– especially when it comes to houses and why or how something might have been constructed that way. I have already referred 2 co-​workers and they have been thrilled!!!
