History

Established in 1979.

Our Seattle store on Ballard Avenue was our first location. At that time we were known as Sutter Home Woodstove Co. We specialized in cast-iron woodburning stoves with names like Jotul, Vermont Castings, Lange, Waterford and Cawley-LeMay. We saw the need for parking and a larger showroom so we moved from Ballard Ave to a great new location 920 NW Leary Way in 2011.

In 1983 we opened a second store in Kirkland, Washington and maintained a presence there until 1986.

In 1986 we moved the Kirkland location to Woodinville which closed in 2012 with the loss of the lease and the booming wine business in the area. It was also in 1986 that we changed our name to Sutter Home & Hearth. By this time we had added barbecues and loads of accessory offerings for them.

The hearth products, barbecues and cookers that we now offer have evolved along with us. Happily, many of the brand names we represented in 1979 are still part of our product lines.
