The Cheese Cellar

I really want to like this place. It’s cute and local with great cheese. I have to knock off two stars for hygiene. I had a cheese plate and I did not see either of the workers wash their hands before they cut the cheese. The guy who is the cashier touched cash from patrons ahead of me and then cut my cheese with his bare (i.e., germy!) hands. Ewww! I don’t recommend this place because of the lack of hygiene which could lead to sickness. Cheese Cellar: please make your employees wear gloves to handle food and wash their hands after touching cash (or credit cards) and touching food!

The best people. The best cheese. Amazing sandwiches. What else could you want from a humble cheese shop? To hell with the Metropolitan, get your cheese here.

We stopped by The Cheese Cellar before our Challenge Nation race for a quick bite. We ordered 3 sandwiches. We got the roast beef, the ham and cheese, and the soppressata. All of the sandwiches were very satisfying. These are high quality sandwiches. You are not going to get 2 slices of bread with a one inch mound of low quality meat and cheese. These are more refined, yet simple sandwiches balanced with high quality ingredients. The baguette they use makes a beautiful crunch sound every time you take a bite. I imagine these are how sandwiches would taste in France and Italy. I am a fan and would like to return to try their selection of cheese and wine.

The Cheese Cellar is one of my absolute favorite places to go in Seattle for lunch, happy hour or just to unwind. They not only have amazing selections of wine and cheese but they offer delicious sandwiches and soup. Roast beef sandwich and a bowl of minestrone is my favorite.
The owners Dennis and Teresa are two of the most like-​able people on earth and definitely add to the overall enjoyment of shopping and eating there.

I have gone to The Cheese Cellar several times for lunch. They make amazing sandwiches on a great french bread; crusty on the outside soft on the inside. My favorite is the ham with gruyère, but the soppressata and the turkey pastrami are great too.
But what makes this place truly 5 star are the owners. Honestly you feel like you are walking into their kitchen for a quick bite. This past weekend, I hosted a wine and cheese happy hour for my wife’s birthday. I wasn’t in attendance at the ladies only event, but the ladies in attendance have been gushing about the great wine, cheese, meat, and fruit pairings that were organized for their tasting pleasure. They could have stayed there all night and would have been completely satisfied.
Definitely a first choice for lunch when I am in the area and a great place to host a private event at very reasonable prices.

The Cheese Cellar’s roast beef sandwich is 5 stars in my book. AWESOME. In addition, you’ll find a large selection of cheese and a carefully selected selection of vines. A great stop if you are visiting Seattle center and want some cheese and wine to enjoy on the lawns.

Great selection of wine and cheese. But the best thing about this place is the sandwiches they offer. Only $ 5! They blow all others out of the water.

While waiting for a group to meet me near the Space Needle I needed to kill some time and stopped in The Cheese Cellar as there is never a bad time to taste some cheese. Dennis and Theresa were great and served up an amazing Cheese plate to someone who was clearly squatting. They had some great advice for us as we prepare to move to Seattle and maybe something not as well known, they get their meats from Salumi!!! So if you want to get a sandwich with some of the same ingredients they use at Salumi without waiting over an hour they make a mean sandwich for not a lot of dough. A must stop if you are in the area.

I’m so happy I was curious enough to try this place. I was walking by, and the wine bottles caught my attention.
My husband and I had wine with a meat and cheese plate. We enjoyed trying new things while having a pleasant conversation with the owners. The wine was outstanding.
They have a wide selection of good cheese, wine, and specialty products. I bought a tiny jar of Truffle Sea Salt. It’s delicious.
You pay for what you get, but the prices aren’t outrageous. I’d say it’s worth every penny. I highly recommend a quick wine tasting and cheese plate if you’re in the area.

Um, yes please! I stopped by here and ordered a meat and cheese plate. They serve Salumi meats; we had the mole, sopressata, smoked paprika, and the salumi salami. We let the shop keeper select our cheeses for us. He presented a blue cheese with honey, a brie, goats milk cheese, and something that tasted really nutty. The best part of the entire plate was a mini grilled cheese. BEST. GRILLED. CHEESE. EVER. So good. This was a great way to sample several different meats and cheeses. I highly recommend it!

Cheese selection was amazingly small for it being in the name of the store.

I go in for sandwiches once and a while. They are reasonably priced with good quality ingredients.

Small selection of SUPER schmancy cheeses. Like, I don’t think I can afford to buy enough cheese to put on a cracker so fancy some of these cheeses are. Granted, those are the cheeses I wanted to buy — there are less expensive options but I can’t even recall what they were. However, if you are like me and crave the crazy stuff, if you bat your eyelashes the cheese monger (who looks curmugeonly at first but brightens up all lovely like when you start talking cheese) will give you a teensy sample.
Extra star for a nice wine selection and GELATO being available here. So yeah, I didn’t leave with cheese, but I did leave happy with a sample taste and a big old cup of pistacho and chocolate chip gelato in hand.

They carry a great selection of salami and cheeses!

I first heard about the cheese cellar after coming across them at a stand during a wine event. I tried a sharp cheddar and a triple crème brie.
No lie. I literally have DREAMED about the triple crème brie ever since that wine event, and finally made it to the store (by the space needle) over a month after my first encounter.
I didn’t leave w a brie, but I did pick up a goat cheese and something else… can’t remember, but I recall trying multiple cheeses and having a difficult time deciding. They were ALL delicious!
Quality cheese, friendly service, and def appropriate for those who are exploring cheese, love cheese, and are cheese fanatics!

We walked in and told them what we didn’t like and they made us the most amazing cheese and salumi platter… Oh baby this place is amazing! Great for a date or a large party :)
Price for our little mean was good, under $ 30!

Great selection of cheeses and cured meats. Perfect place to grab something to take over to a group dinner. Staff is helpful and friendly. No parking validation — but street parking and a paid lot available close by.

The Cheese Cellar (Seller, haha) is a small cheese shop across the way from the Space Needle and Seattle Center. Had a LivingSocial coupon to redeem so I stopped by after work to pick some cheese. Not located in a cellar, though the place is a bit cavernous and dark.
In addition to the obvious cheese selection, there are a selection of other items available here that pair well with cheese including wines and meats. Sandwiches are also offered. Supposedly there is gelato, but I could not see it anywhere. It was late, so perhaps it was moved to the cellar for storage already.
As for cheese, I am no expert. But I know what I like. I like soft cheeses, so I tried a couple samples that one of the owners offered me before picking one. Ended up picking a piece of Moses Sleeper cheese which has a brie-​like taste along with a package of the Spanish made chorizo.
From what I can see, The Cheese Cellar seems to differentiate itself by offering a selection of cheeses not found in conventional markets. If you are looking for specialty cheeses, make The Cheese Cellar one of your spots to try.
