History

Established in 2013.

Manager Clinton Fisher has been in the Hvac business for over 13 years, with a background of electrical, and general building maintenance. Clinton started as a residential service apprentice, and soon moved into residential installation. In 2005 Clinton moved from Carson City to Reno and began doing Commercial service and installation.

Seeing the trade over the years Clinton saw areas that he could improve and better serve customers, and by being «professional» and «efficient»

He started Proficient Heating and Air Conditioning!

Clinton was born in Truckee, CA and has lived in the Northern Nevada area most of his life. He enjoys spending time with family, playing music, and riding motorcycles. He loves northern Nevada for its diverse weather, and active outdoor lifestyle.

Called and made an appointment. They called back a half hour before the appointment, after I waited all day, to cancel and reschedule for the following week! Not much on service. The owner did call after I posted this review and apologized for the mishap.

I had another company come over to check my furnace. The blower wasn’t coming on. They told me I needed to to replace a part that would cost me around 800 dollars, but I should replace the furnace altogether for around 3000. I was in shock.
I saw a mailer sent to me from Proficient, that said they would do free second opinion for free. I took them up on it. Clinton came over the next day (10 minutes before the scheduled appointment time) he took a look and told me I had a bad connection on some of the wires. He told me he could solder it. Sure enough, thats all it was needed. He doubled and triple checked it. He charged me for labor, which was quite fair.
That second opinion saved my family’s Christmas! I can’t thank them enough for going the extra mile. I whole hearty would recommend them!

Clinton has serviced both of my AC units and Heating units. He is on time, extremely thorough and even took pictures and explained in details current condition and made suggestions to improve performance and life of the units. My heater drains were not installed correctly and were subject to freezing, backing up water and shutting the units down. Clinton offered immediate fix and long term solutions that were above and beyond what I expected. A true professional who you can trust to protect your interests and valued heating and cooling hardware.

Proficient Heating and Air Conditioning is a great company to do business with. Clinton came over to my house on a «standard» tune up call. I had never had my furnace checked out before (7 years running) and was hoping for the best. Not only did he assure me that my nearly 30 year old furnace was in pretty good shape, but he actually rewired my thermostat to give me additional functionality — now I can run the fan without the heat and recirculate the air! Fair, on-​time, competent, and professional! Proficient is (from now on) my «go-​to» source for heating and cooling services.

I have a rental property that I wanted to upgrade from a swamp cooler to forced air. I got three quotes, two from other top rated local companies (based on Unilocal star rating). Clinton’s quote came in below the others. More than price though was the honesty. One of the other companies told me that I would need to have my entire furnace replaced due to a leak from the roof. The leak was caused by the installers of the furnace not using the correct diameter piping, which didn’t allow the gas condensation to escape. Funny thing is that the company who installed the furnace before we purchased the house was one of the companies I called for a quote. They took no responsibility. I digress. Clinton came out on time, completed the job on schedule and on budget. He also fixed the leak, cleaned up the furnace, and left the place as clean as he found it. I would recommend this company to all my friends and family. Extremely satisfied with entire experience.

We confirmed a 2pm appointment. They never showed. My wife called the business number and left a message asking when they would arrive. Nothing! She then texted the phone of the tech that set the appointment and again nothing. We waited until the next morning and still nothing. If your time is valuable don’t waste it by calling these clowns.

We had been having problems with one of our air conditioner units due to some chewed wires. When the unit quit again we were certain it was an electrical issue. Before we contacted an electrician I was referred to Clinton at Proficient Heating and Air, and it’s a good thing. It turned out not to be the wires but the thermostat inside our house. Clinton was professional, reliable and very reasonably priced. I was very happy with the service I received, he even brought my garage can into the backyard after the garbage man came! I would definitely recommend Clinton and his team when it comes to heating and air conditioning needs.

Clinton was very helpful in repairing a broken exhaust pipe on a heater on a house in cold springs which I did some work on. He also came to my house last spring to get my system ready for the summer. His prices are very fair and his service was very prompt. I will recommend him to all my friends and will continue to use him in the future on my own home.

When I bought my home in Reno I had no idea when the last time my heater or AC had been serviced so I asked around and a friend provided me with Clinton’s info. Clinton was on time and provided me with great service. Everything was in great working order which made my day, and he even went above and beyond when he was able to cut an opening for the vents in my attic for ventilation that hadn’t been done by the construction crew when they built the house, which was on my list of things to do that probably wouldn’t have been done if Clinton hadn’t done the job. I recommend him highly.

Heating and Air Conditioning — we all use it and maybe even take advantage of it. When something goes wrong, what are you to do?
Call this guy! His name is Clinton and he is a bad-​ass at what he does.
Clinton is reliable and knowledgable. He has helped us multiple times but one incident that stood out the most is when the water heater at our new house stopped working. Given that the house was vacant for 4+ years prior to moving in, something was bound to go wrong. I was not ready to replace the water heater, so Clinton gave it another life. He didn’t leave the house until the issue was fixed. We haven’t had any other issues since. It’s never fun when you are out of hot water, especially with the seasons changing — who would want to take an ice bath in this weather?
Clinton is prompt and friendly. He has answers to all your questions — true story. Proficient Heating & Air Conditioning is the perfect name for what Clinton offers. He will always get our business from here on out.
