Southland has been serving Studio City and the surrounding communities for over 30 years. We provide Eye Exams, contact lens, Laser vision correction, consultations and after care. We have our own on-​site eyeglass lab so we may process your orders at once in most cases.

We take all Vision Insurance including but not limited to;

VSP, EyeMed, Spectera, Optum Health, Medi-​care, Aetna, Blue Cross.

We have convenient on site parking.

History

Established in 1980.

Southland Opticians was established in 1980 by Berge Khanaikian, an Optician trained in Switzerland and Germany. He opened Southland at the current location in Studio City. John Macaray succeeded him in 1992 as Master Optician and has continued to carry on the traditions of quality and craftsmanship. Dr. Rezah S. Mohamed has now established Southland as a full scope Optometric Practice, while maintaining the expertise and workmanship of a skilled optician. Since 1980, Southland has developed a loyal following of entertainers, business leaders, and proud locals while upholding the highest standards of quality, ethics, and best values in town.

Dr. Mohamed is a board certified optometrist who has been practicing in Southern California since 2005. Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree with Honors at the University of Toronto. He attended optometry school in Chicago at the Illinois College of Optometry, where he received the Wildermuth Foundation Scholarship for outstanding leadership. As a student, Dr. Mohamed was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society for outstanding achievement and the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society for outstanding leadership and service. He has been a member of the Contact Lens and Cornea Section of the American Optometric Association.

Southland is a staple in the Studio City community and Dr. Mohamed is excited to take this practice to new heights. His easy going personality and attention to the needs of his patients are the cornerstones of his clinical skills.
