Crazy King Kong Sushi

You know, I’m gonna have to agree with some of these bad reviews. Aside from the sushi rice that tastes like its made out of play-​dough and fish that should be used for chum instead of being served at a restaurant, I’ve never been so disappointed in service. Open tables all over the place and I can’t even be accommodated quickly. What a DISGRACE. Just close up shop.

So I came to this place called crazy king Kong sushi because I got a flyer that I had great deals so I took one of my friends and ordered some sushi our server spoke very Little English very hard to understand so I ordered The king Kong roll which was absolutely terrible just like the service we got here so I understood why it was so reasonably priced because the quality was garbage The yellowtail look more like dog sashimi the only thing that was good there was a beer I will never come here again and if I could I’d will give you no stars on this review

Four stars for the all you can eat. For 26 bucks you get three rounds of ordering all you want. Sushi is three stars quality. Not bad in any way, just I’ve had some seriously great sushi elsewhere that is two stars better. I just had fifteen or so total orders of sushi, love all you can eat

Great service, fast pace workers. Fresh Sushi every time. Amazing happy hour prices. Never dissatisfied I love this place and Highly Recommend it to All.

Terrible terrible service!
I mean it.
It does not matter how delicious the meal is if the service sucks, i do not go to the restaurant again.
We went there at 18.05 and sitted right away by the ladty at the door. Reataurant was not fully crowded. My son and I waited almost 10 mins to give our orders. None of the waitresses came by so o called the lady at the door and gave our orders. We waitied till 18.35 and i got very annoyed. I told the lady that at least they could bring the soup. She brought the soup. 5 mins later at 18.45, waitress brought the rest of the order. As soon as we are done with the food (there was nothing spectecular about the food by the way. The portions were tiny) I waited for waitress to ask for the check. She skipped me couole of times. I had to ask for the check to the lady at the door again. I usually tip them 15−20% but this time i less than 10%.
If you want to have a good sushi, nice and fast service go to Sumo. You will not regret.
I wish i could have given –5 to that place.

First time I’ve ever been to a restaurant with so many open tables that would not accommodate us for our booth request. We were told they were all reserved for larger parties in case they get any. We are normally ready to drop $ 100 for the two of us on a sushi dinner but because they wouldn’t give us a booth, we left. I guess hey don’t need the business.

Sushi is very good for this area, there are few sushi options and even fewer good sushi options. The crispy tuna appetizer is sooooo good! I have tried the tuna salad, spicy tuna hand roll and a few others. Everything I have tried has tasted fresh and flavorful.

Four stars is definetly not for the food, it is for the amazing happy hour and wait staff which puts no limits on how much advantage you can take of it! 98 cent sake bombs and dollar beers is about the best deal you can get anywhere. My friend had his birthday party here, and the wait staff was so accommodating and made sure that we had a great time! We were ordering 20 sake bombs at a time (it was a lot of people) and they just kept bringing out the rounds without getting annoyed! I have been back multiple times because I don’t think you can find a cheaper place for sake bombs and sushi.
The food however is another story. This restaurant used to be Akios, which was a high quality delicious Japanese restaurant. The quality has severely decreased since changing owners, so keep your expectations low!

This place is a 3 star solely for the cheap beers and great happy hour. The sushi is cheap, but decent for the price. The ayce is worth it if you come hungry, since it includes nigiri and other premium rolls. This place has gone downhill since it first opened after akios was forced to shut down. They now require a minimum $ 5 food order for you to participate in the dollar beers. That being said, it’s still worth it and a decent place to get a cheap meal.
Their happy hour beer prices cannot be beat, and is the reason why I’m a regular here. It’s the perfect place to enjoy cheap sushi and pregame a big night!

… Soooo i cant speak of how this place was before, the happy hour isn’t great, the waitress was nice enough, but you can tell was slightly unhappy for some reason, and while the sushi didn’t totally suck… It wasn’t anything special– in fact as a grade, the double crunch would get a C– and the BSCR would possibly manage a B –ish. I have a feeling this place is slightly struggling? Not shocked. Never was i asked how my food was, and the crunch was super stale and old… I was seated and served period.
I always try and help out any local business if I can in good conscious do so… But unfortunately, i feel this place is in a rough location to get to and is feeling it. :/​sorry guys.

You can’t beat this place for what it is. Simple, inexpensive sushi well done! The staff has always been great and tolerated me after too many 98¢ sake bombs or 98¢ beers! Great place for good quality sushi that won’t break the bank!

Would have been 5 stars expect for the service we received here. My friends and I have come here multiple times because they have a great happy hour deal. Every time we have come we are treated like we are not wanted by every server except for the guy with the long, dark hair. He is great and the best employee they have. He should get a raise and all the hours.
We went here the other day and asked if there was a problem after we paid because we were being stared at while 2 women looked at our checks where I had written in the tip section «given to waiter». They proceeded to grab the tip jar and started counting the money in front of us. We had handed the guy with the dark hair a $ 10 tip personally and they made him put it in the tip jar. Sorry, but no one else in that place deserved a tip. We kept asking if there was a problem and the lady says «if you don’t like it don’t come here.» My friend told her «what makes you think we don’t like it? We come here all the time because we love it.» She says to my friend «I don’t want to talk about this». So basically they just don’t like us and don’t want us there. Awful customer service from these 2 women.
One more thing… they have a section on the side that is always closed. We asked to sit there once and they told us no. I turned around at our table only to see an employee laying under the table stretched out in the booth sleeping (see pic below). Not what i want to see while I’m dining at a restaurant. Gordon Ramsey would shut you down.

This is my absolute favorite sushi restaurant ever. I have yet to order something that I didn’t like, be it a bento, a sushi roll or sashimi! The appetizers are wonderful, too! My recommendations (because I come here so frequently):

Love this place! Came from Canada to visit my boyfriends family. We went in and the food was so yummy! They were super helpful and very nice. Ellen was super nice and assisted us in the very best way possible! The dessert was the best part of the meal!

First of all, I want to say that the waitresses were very kind and helpful, and answered all my questions about the sushi. Sophia was especially helpful and professional!
I’ve eaten at many sushi restaurants before, and this one had the best service of them all.
The service was fast, and the sushi was delicious.

Crazy King Kong Sushi is a decent sushi place. I had a couple main concerns that I was not very happy about. They have a lunch «All you can eat» option which is $ 21.50. You have 3 rounds & can nearly order enough sushi till you puke. It took them about 25 minutes the first round to make our sushi which got very frustrating… The knock out rounds got a little faster but almost seemed to loose quality in the taste. The best part was getting $ 70 worth of sushi for $ 21.50 & thats what saves this review.
I’d say it was a one time thing for this sushi restaurant!

I stopped here for lunch the other day and had a pleasant experience. I was greeted and seated right away. My order was taken promptly and my roll and salad came out faster than expected. After that no one really checked on me and my bill took a long time to get to my table, but everything else was fast. Actually I had thought, after eating my cucumber salad and my roll (which seemed small), that I would order dessert when my server came back but then I waited and waited and after five or ten minutes I realized I needed to get back to work so when she finally came by my table and asked, «Done?» I just said yes and didn’t ask about dessert.
Though my roll seemed small, this was also one of the cheapest Japanese restaurant lunches I’ve had — under $ 11 for a cucumber salad, a soda, and a roll with soy paper added. So I can’t complain there. I will probably come back again but will order two rolls instead of one.
The atmosphere was very nice, with bright open tables and big fish mounted all around the walls with placards on them to tell you what species they are so you can see what the fish looked like that you are ordering to eat. A big shark hangs from the ceiling. Very cool.

Cheap sushi!
Not the best but they have amazing happy hour specials like .98 cent sapporos. I definitely come here to drink more than anything.
I do find that their crab sushi and baked crawfish rolls are decent. Beware the teriyaki chicken plate as it tastes like pure cardboard! Disgusting.
The waiters aren’t very friendly at times. If you ask them for anything, they make it seem like what you are asking is out of this world. Service could be much much better.
Its a good little happy hour place, or if you’re in the mood for cheap sushi lol.

A friend invited us to Thousand Oaks to celebrate our late engagement and my fiancé’s birthday. So he chose this place and said everything is on him. We couldn’t pass up the opportunity so we met up with them on a Tuesday night. Once we arrived I realized I had actually been to this sushi restaurant before but it was called something else. They kept the same decorations but the new owner made it a little more hip with flat screen TV’s and the environment seemed much younger.
They have an all hour happy hour which has selections of sushi for under $ 5 and they have these awesome saki bombs for 98 cents! I was the designated driver but I believe I saw them throw down about 8 sake bombs each while I sipped on my delicious water with lemon lol.
I decided to go with the King Kong Roll (substitute the spicy tuna for crab) and a yellowtail cut roll and a salmon roll. My fiancé ordered the Jala Jala Roll with salmon and tuna sushi. We all had a great time with good sushi, cheap drinks and awesome company to share it with.
Overall, I have to give this place 4 Afros because I’ve definitely had better sushi but everything else made this place an awesome experience. From the drinks, the atmosphere, the good service and the cleanliness, I’d have to say it’s well deserved.
We will be back when I’m not the DD!
