Very creative rolls and was super fresh. I would definitely come back again and try some different rolls.

I’ve gone to Yomama sushi for many years now, and every time I go is better than the last. The fish in their sushi snd sashimi are always of the best quality, and the sushi is topped with original, homemade sauces. If you flip through their sushi menu, you’ll notice that in addition to the standard rolls, you will find different rolls composed of new combinations of fish. My personal favorite is a new salmon-mango sushi roll that they added to the menu, in addition to classic favorites like their caterpillar roll and the shy roll. Furthermore, the restaurant recently added new decorations to create a more contemporary vibe for diners to enjoy. It’s a family-owned, family-run restaurant, so their hospitality makes you feel like part of the family too. My whole experience at Yomama is consistently amazing, so if you haven’t tried it yet, I suggest that you go soon!

I’ll start with the fact that my review may be somewhat bias because I am a sucker for customer service. The sushi is definitely great don’t get me wrong but the fifth star is earned with the customer service. Its a family owned and run restaurant and you can feel the atmosphere right when you walk in. Every time I go they know what I want to drink and eat before I sit down. I thought it may just be me but after visiting on a busy day I noticed they did the same for a number of people while I was there. Anyways, I would recommend to anyone!

Sushi was good, unique sauces, but kinda sweet. Place looked extremely clean and staff was nice and attentive.

We were walking in when a bunch of people were walking out. A lady said«never again!» When I asked if it was bad(I had heard Camarillo was bad) a man said he had just pulled a cockroach out of his sushi roll. No thanks! Never going back!

Great sushi for a good price. My favorite is the spicy Cajun sashimi. They recently upgraded the interior which gave the atmosphere a boost. Staff is friendly and the service is very good.

Really loved the flavors here! Choi(the Chef) was great fun and gave us a special spicy sauce that’s amazing! Great service ;-)

Pretty good place if your out late and have the munchies for some sushi! So after taking a few hits, my buddy and I decided yomamas would be a good treat. Food Is delicious, bit pricey but recommend it for all.

The sushi and sushi rolls were good, but I couldn’t believe it when the waitress/owner brought out little bowls of plain, dry, iceberg lettuce for the salads. In all my years, I’ve never gotten iceberg lettuce in a sushi place. It’s always been seaweed salad. I also didn’t like how they covered all the rolls with sauce; let the customer decide, is my opinion. My party was 5 adults and a kid and they only brought out two dishes of soy sauce and ginger. We thought maybe it was because of what we ordered, but realized the owners are very cheap. Finally, they covered the feet of all the chairs with tennis balls, and it looks ridiculous and ghetto(see photo). The TV on over the chef area makes it feel more like a bar than a restaurant. The waitress was an older lady, I’m guessing the owner or wife of the owner, and she was dressed in short jeans and a work shirt, not a classy place at all. Good sushi, but no atmosphere. Overpriced for what you get. If you HAD to eat here, I would recommend you get take-away and eat in the comfort of your home. They are Chinese owners, not Japanese by the way.

I visited twice last month and it was excellent. I think it has improved over the past few years.

Pros: Fast, friendly service. Cons: Overpriced, low quality food. The cucumber salad is small and $ 6.95…most places charge $ 2 – 4. No complimentary miso soup. I had the Mexican Roll… just gross. The Omega Roll… too bland, poor quailty fish. $ 33 later… no impressed. Will not be returning. Cho Cho San down the street is much better! Oh, and the tennis balls on the feet of the chairs really adds to appearance(read: sarcasm)

Tennis balls on every chair was the start of a dinner with things out of the ordinary… In mostly a good way. Staff is pretty nice, pricing isn’t too bad. Edamame came out steaming. Miso soup wasn’t watered down at all. The salad had sesame seeds in it which I found different. Also, I had a bell pepper in my vegetable tempura; another unusual item, but still yummy. Tempura wasn’t oily at all! Beef teriyaki wasn’t overwhelmed by sauce and was pretty decent. I’d probably recommend this place and will most likely be back to try some sushi.

We just left Yomama sushi and we are extremely disappointed. The food was really tasteless. I ordered the Yomama basic sushi plate and while it looked good, it tasted horrible. The rice was grainy and soggy at the same time. The miso soup was blend. My husband had chicken tempura and it was oily. The rice was terrible as bad as mine. We will not come back. This seemed to us more like a mall quality sushi restaurant…

Hey, it wasn’t Ohhh Sooo Bad! To be completely honest, I was on my way to Bada Sushi. Come to find out that my religious sushi parlor is now CLOSED! I thought, hey why not try Yamama’s?! I was kindly greeted to my seat with a menu for me & a buddy. We were craving sushi VERY badly so this review may be enhanced because of my emotions. Anyway, they have a HUGE selection of sushi. I’m talking 5 – 6 pages. Prices are a little bit up there. But hey, you want good sushi? Pay the price. The downfall that eliminated a star was the service. Although greeted with respect, we had to flag a waiter to order while he was in the corner eating chocolate covered strawberries. I mean, at least share! I’d recommend this place & will return!

This place is inbetween a hit and a miss. The sushi isn’t terrible but I have had much better in the Thousand Oaks area. When we first walked in, we were the only ones there and all of the chairs had tennis balls on the bottoms. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered 5 rolls(Sweet Summer, Red Dragon, Mudslide, Mexican). The Red Dragon is drenched in oil, and the sweet sauce used on the Mudslide has a kind of strange taste to it… Before our rolls arrived, we were given salads with sesame dressing, which we later noticed were pre-prepared, just sitting out in the open behind us, already dressed. The rolls were good but all were fairly similar to each other. This was probably just our poor ordering skills but everything kind of tasted the same(except the Red Dragon). The whole aesthetic of the place was kind of odd to be honest. On the sushi bar there was a single Beta fish swimming around in murky water which was kind of off putting while we were eating our sushi. The place is good for a last resort, and it wasn’t extremely expensive. I wouldn’t come back here again, but I wouldn’t say it’s absolutely terrible.

Yomama used to be an old favorite place of mine, in the pre-Yelp days. I haven’t eaten here for 8 or so years, so it was a delight to return. Located in a strip mall next to Petco, Marcello’s, and Goodwill, and across from Sears. You wouldn’t know it once you step inside, the feel is like a real restaurant — not strip mall. Years have been kind to Yomama, she looks good! I was ready for a great meal. They have two menus: sushi, and cooked foods(teriyaki and the like). So it’s full featured Japanese, not just sushi. Years ago I tried it, and from what I recall, it was great. But sushi was on stage tonight. The sushi menu is kind of confusing. Little pictures, everything looks and sounds like the other, with indications of inside/outside/sauce that helps a little. I took a chance, and my dining partner and I ordered 3 rolls(which were very long and large), and a couple of other items: 1. Edamame($ 3.50) — I’ve had better. Maybe slightly undercooked?(2.0 stars) 2. Salad($free) — terrible dressing. No sesame oil, no ginger. I would say no to this, and try to get their miso soup instead.(1.5 stars) 3. CJ Roll($ 13) — Shrimp Tempura, Crab, Tuna, Cucumber, with Tuna, Yellowtail, Avocado on the outside. Tastes of both slightly spicy and sweetened with freshly cut, thin orange slices. I love this!(5.0 stars) 4. Sweet Summer Roll($ 12) — Crab and freshwater Eel with Avocado on the outside & a sweet Eel sauce. Okay, but wouldn’t order it again.(3.0 stars) 5. Mexican Roll($ 12) — basically, a California roll in taste. Spicy Shrimp, Crab, Cucumber with Avocado on the outside. Good, but not great.(3.5 stars) In the end, it was just okay. Food was okay, and service was minimal(and it wasn’t even that busy). In the time since I ate here years ago, I’ve up’d my skills, knowledge, and experience of sushi. Sorry to say, it’s not even the best of the area let alone LA and Ventura counties. The CJ Roll is worth coming for, it’s amazing.

Amazing sushi! Family owned and operated. The owners know our orders by heart. We could walk in, and sit down without saying a word and they would know our orders. Best sushi place in Thousand Oaks!

If you’re gonna fuss about tennis balls on the chairs, then you have got to get your priorities straight. The food here was fantastic! I got the CJ and the Omega, and you should too. I called to place a pick up order and the woman who took my order was very nice. My order was ready on time and the staff was very pleasant when I picked it up. I accidentally knocked my bag over in the car so I screwed up their presentation. But whatever, it was all delicious, even if it was a little sloshed around haha

I ate at Yomama Sushi once maybe 4 or 5 years ago and I had a bad experience and said I wouldn’t be back. Well, today I decided to give them another shot, seeing as how it’s been a long time and lo and behold I had a good meal! I ordered sunomono(cucumber salad) and inari sushi(tofu around rice) with a Mudslide Roll(like a tempura shrimp roll) with soy paper. The inari was perfect(warm, as I’d requested). The sonomono was also quite delicious and refreshing, though I will warn you if you get it, the top will have sauce and the bottom will have a reservoir of sauce, but the cucumber slices in the middle may be entirely plain so after you get through the top layer you should turn things over and swirl things around to get flavor on all the veggies. The sauce is what makes this dish and they do a good job here. My Mudslide roll was good, but I would have preferred it with eel sauce drizzled on top instead of the sauce they used. What they used was too thick and wasn’t 100% smooth in texture. I did very much appreciate that the tempura shrimp did not have ANY shell on it so I could eat the whole thing. I love when places take the time to do that. Downsides to the visit — the tennis balls crammed on all the feet of all the chairs take the atmosphere down a notch. My diet coke tasted a bit off, maybe the syrup was running low. I saw NO prices on the menus I was handed. I guess if you have to ask, you can’t afford it? My bill for the three food items + a diet coke came to $ 26 before tip. Other than that, the restaurant was clean and the staff was polite and professional. Service was fast and food was good. I would consider coming here again, now that my favorite sushi place is closed and I don’t have a new go-to.

So I have never been here before and the first warning sign was the tennis balls on ALL of the feet of the chairs. I was the only person in there so it was a get in, get out scenario. Sushi was average, spider roll kinda sucked. It was burnt an had some unknown clear stringy stuff inside. When I got my bill I noticed the spider roll was $ 4 more than the menu price. There are way to many places in town to waist your time in this one.
