Performance Footwear and Wide shoes

Went in and was helped by James about 30 – 40 min before closing. We didn’t expect to get any help which was fine because we were just looking. But James was awesome! He was helping another customer but somehow was able to help us too! He was very, VERY knowledgable. Of course did the treadmill test to see how I was walking and pointed me to the right shoes for my flat feet. I walked out with a brand new pair of running shoes!!! He stayed a little passed closing to finish up with us. He even taught us how to tie our laces so they don’t come untied! Sweet!
I only wished they had more variety to choose from for a motion control shoe, but that’s ok. We’ll be back.

3 stars for the young man who assisted me (the one from MN), zero for the young woman who was I believe his manager that day.
I usually shop at fleet feet but saw the reviews so came here.
I walked in and there were two people working — a young woman and a young man. The woman pretty much ignored me when I smiled at her when I walked in.
While the young man was helping me, he went behind the curtain (it’s a curtain not a wall) to get several pairs for me to try on. I normally purchase 3 pairs at a time as I have a very busy life and need to multitask so my intention was 3 pairs of expensive running shoes.
As he was getting me several pairs, the manager said to him in a forceful and condenscending manner ‘What are you doing?’ He said I’m bringing her shoes to try on. She responded ‘Never bring that many, only bring out three, customers get overwhelmed and never know what they want anyway so if you bring them too many they just get confused and cannot make decisions (this was said in a tone of ‘customers are stupid’). When she walked out from behind the curtain she ignored me and I was seriously feet away from her when she was talking. She didn’t even look at me and kept walking. I was floored that she didn’t seem to realize I heard the conversation — it’s a curtain, not a door. Also, she didn’t even wait for him to respond — if she had realized I said I intended to buy 3 pairs quickly maybe that would have helped her understand why he was bringing so many out.
I then heard her comment to another customer something about the fit of their offerings not being right for her in a less than flattering manner. I honestly don’t think she understands how to talk to people. Wow.
I’m a doc and on my feet all day so I need good shoes. As I was limited on time as he was only allowed to bring out 3 at a time, I ended up ordering on
that night instead since I purchase so often I know my size and preference.
***Please, if you are the owner, ensure your staff knows customers can hear them when they are behind the curtain. Being rude to another staff member is just as bad as being rude to a customer.

This store is a class act. James Johnston the Manager and the staff are very educated on the proper footwear for each person based on goals and their body type. I had some heel pain while running. After an analysis of my foot strike, they fit me for some new shoes and all my issues went away.

I have very hard to fit feet.
The sales person spent a lot of time with me, watching how I walk, and considered my foot shape as well.
I’m very happy with my purchase, and they have a reasonable return policy if needed.

I went there asking questions and needing new shoes for walking and working out. I gave a budget. And then got a walking assessment. Then was not only shown diffrent shoes but told diffrent aspects of the shoe. Tried on a couple pairs before making final selection. James told me to take them outside for a run in the front. He was very courteous and very personable. I very much enjoyed the visit, his knowledge and the prices. I will be back and have told quite a few people about preformance shoes already!!! James has me hooked on preformance!!!

Don’t go anywhere else, you might as well go to the best first!
I knew the minute I walked in the door that I was in good hands. James, the owner, and Jozie, his assistant, were very professional, friendly, and down to earth. I immediately felt comfortable, and knew they would take good care of me. I told them I have ankle tendonitis, and while Jozie was looking for shoes for me try on, James gave me a short-​version course in foot and ankle injuries. He is extremely knowledgeable, and certainly gave me more information on my tendonitis than I ever received from my doctor. I was also given the name of a physical therapist who will hopefully be able to help me recuperate quickly and permanently from the tendonitis.
I have shopped at the other «good» foot stores in Tucson, but Performance Footwear is hands-​down the best shoe store I’ve ever been to. There’s a really wonderful atmosphere there — — - happy people who know what they are talking about, and like what they are doing.

Words will not do justice trying to describe James and the extremely helpful staff there! I’m blown away by the depth of knowledge that James has for types of injuries or surgeries that you might have had or have and knows what direction to point you in to improve or help avoid further aggravation of the condition. Believe me, if you want to go somewhere where they know their stuff and not just getting the size shoe you tell them from the back then go say hi to James and crew and let them get you sized properly and on the way to a better lifestyle! Thank you James for your patience and knowing what direction I needed to go in order for a proper shoe. Best wishes for the New Year!

Wow these guys had great service! The girl helping me was polite and helpful, and there was no pressure to buy anything.
Unfortunately I was not able to find anything here that I was looking for but when I need new shoes I’ll definitely be coming back here first!

My husband and I went into Performance Footwear last week because we needed new shoes for an upcoming run. We went to Performance Footwear because of the reviews we had read online. The service, knowledge, and helpfulness of the staff lived up to all of the 5 star reviews we had read. Alex helped us and she was great. She measured our feet, gave us the treadmill test, analyzed our running style and our foot type and then further analyzed our running style from examining our OLD running shoes. After all of this she then recommended appropriate shoes. My husband’s and my feet are very different and Alex matched us up with shoes that have been working out fantastic for both of us. We also bought running socks, electrolyte drinks, and a pouch that you hold in your hand for water, electrolyte drinks, etc. (which I absolutely love!) and other things. This is a store we wholeheartedly recommend and we hope their business thrives.

Lousy service lousy selection… I went in there looking for some running shorts… they had two pairs… and no one offered to help me… rather they wanted to stay behind the counter and talk to the «better looking» customers…

Went today and James helped me; he was not only friendly but so smart, and answered all my questions. He even taught me how to tie my shoes properly… this sounds silly but there’s actually a proper way to tie them! He found me a pair of shoes just right for me and my needs. This was probably the 10^th shoe store I went to in 2 days and there’s no comparison on selection, knowledge or customer service. Not to mention the prices didn’t differ really at all from going to a chain store or even online. Having James help me was like having a friend help me; what’s better than that when you go into a store??!

Don’t come into this place hoping to find what you do at your local Nike store and I mean that in a good way! Sure those large chain stores have tons of shoes and clothes but this place legitimately cares that you get the right shoe for YOU. The store manager is the best! He will do everything he can to get you fitted correctly and get you what you want. ⁵⁄₅ service!

James is off the hook. Please ask for him. He is super knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to find you something that is comfortable. He took the time to find me a suitable shoes to walk in and educate me on how to walk. Literally.

Great customer service. Be prepared to spend 100+ on a pair of shoes before you well-​known in the door. That said, you get what you pay for. Our was like a revelation for me running in properly fitted high end shoes.

If you have a common shoe size and foot width they’ll have what you need in stock most likely. If you’re like me, and wear a not-​so-​common shoe, they’re not easily able to find a shoe that fits.
They will special order them for you but shipping isn’t the fastest so you’ll need to plan ahead if you’re going to replace your current running shoe. Don’t won’t till you need them if you’re gonna require a special order!!!
James will jump through hoops to help you get the right shoe and he’s very knowledgeable.

As a runner, James is the only one I trust to fit me in running shoes.
I’ve gone to (two) other places and I’ve ended up with the wrong shoe/​fit.
Drove down from Las Vegas just to get my shoes fit from James!

5 stars all the way!!! The red-​headed gal is super helpful, informative, and really tries to find the best fit for you. She definitely went above and beyond in her customer service. Wish every business was like this. Great selection of running shoes and if they don’t have them in stock, they can order online with a great return policy if needed.

They have such a great selection of NB and other made in the US brands! That’s great because I refuse to buy sweatshop shoes. Also very helpful and nice sales people.

The staff here really went out of their way to help me out today. Your kindness is very much appreciated, thank you so much! I will definitely stop in here next time I need some running shoes!
