Moving Ahead Cleaning

Sorry. I can’t say I was pleased. I liked the business model, and prefer to support local business. Also the notion that there may be some specific sense of what someone who is moving out may need. Not so much there. After 4 labor hours of cleaning an empty house (i was cleaning wood paneling alongside) I went back and spent at least 2 more finishing up details overlooked.
The gals came on time on a snowy day, points there. Polite enough. I asked that they focus on kitchen floors and bathrooms, but dust the obvious surfaces in 2 empty rooms. Could this be accomplished in less than 2000 sq ft house in that time? Easily, however I had to ask twice that the baseboards and window ledges be cleaned. As well as point out other details.
The kitchen floor was lightly cleaned, with a set of dog bowls and mat left in place and full of crumbs. Isn’t it normal to at least pick it up? And ask did I want the bowls emptied? The lead person stopped actively working after an hr and 40 minutes to do paperwork? I had to ask her to go back and clean microwave. About an hour in to job she asked me if it was ok if a third girl came to clean too. Me «sure as long as the original plan stayed the same, or if you plan to get finished earlier.» Answer «oh no we will stay the same number of hours.» The mystery third never came. What was that about?
What bothered me most? In an age when social media rules it took a month plus for them to contact me for feedback! The young man on the phone said all the right customer service-​corporate speak things «reach out» «going forward» «coloring in the right boxes». So sorry (so what was implicit). Blah blah blah with no more conviction than the man who takes my change at a toll booth! Still own the home and could see a reason to use them several times a year… Would I use them again? No thanks.

They were absolutely fantastic. They got caught in traffic, but called to let me know right away, kept me updated on their progress, and gave me updates whenever anything changed. Then once they got there they moved SO fast, I couldn’t believe it! They were like a well oiled machine, and I just wish I’d realized how effective they were before because I could have done a lot less work! Especially with the drawers… turns out they can just wrap up anything with drawers and you don’t even have to pack it up, so I feel very stupid for having bothered to pack all my clothes and art supplies! When we got to the new place they were very good about asking me where to put things, learned which rooms I had dedicated as which fast, and for the stuff that I didn’t have a clue where I wanted it, managed to make remarkably logical decisions. Nothing was damaged, even my supremely fragile collectibles that break when you so much as look at them. The last company I used tore a great big hunk off a corner off my desk, and when they glued it back on it’s all lopsided and euch! They didn’t mind my two dogs at all and even asked permission before getting lunch between the two places, which I gladly gave since it was an 8 hour job and wanted lunch myself anyway! I really can’t praise them highly enough and will absolutely use them whenever I move again (though I hope that won’t be for a LONG time!).
