Michelangelo’s Barbershop
This men’s modern barbershop harkens back to older, more service-oriented times. Do not expect a ten-minute haircut; Michelangelo’s barbers pay strict attention to detail. They have a name to stand behind, and a belief that men’s haircuts should not be rushed. If you want to feel even classier, spring for the hot towel shave. With a régime of shaving creams, warm towels, and aftershaves, this straight-edge shave is well worth it. As they say, «walk in a man, leave a gentleman».
Meet the Business Owner
Michaelangelo M.
Business Owner
North High graduate spent much of his youth at the barbershop sweeping, keeping barber stations clean and trying to stay out of trouble. Michaelangelo eventually opened his own shop in 2011 called 78th and Waverly and spent the next two years building his business from 1 barber to 8. A new father at the time, the entrepreneur worked hard trying to provide for his family and be there for his son. Last month, Michaelangelo moved 78th and Waverly from a low income neighborhood on Grafton Hill to the up and coming Canal District giving him and his employees a fresh start. «One night I was eating at Smokestack across the street from the Crompton building and I decided I wanted to move my shop there. The neighborhood is safer and I wanted to go a different, more upscale direction. There’s so much positive energy here,»
