Service is REALLY slow, food is okay but overpriced for the quality and amount of food you get. We won’t be coming here again.

Average food and very not all right coffee However the decoration in house looks good, but I’m more interested in coffee. I tried couple times figuring out whether they can make any of the coffee good. Unfortunately nope. Last time the piccolo ruined my appetite for whole morning, good for diet though.

Beautiful building and ambiance HOWEVER the service is abysmal, by that I mean line up and order and receive a number for the table and WAIT and WAIT and WAIT for your meal and drink. By the time it arrives your well and truly over the lovely old building and just gobble down the salad overdone in dressing, leave half of your meal because your now rushing to catch your transport. Won’t be going back… SHAMESHAMESHAME

It’s a tad expensive, but for the amount of food and the quality of those smoothies, I don’t care. Take my money. Run with it. I spent a good half hour trying to guess what was in my espresso smoothie — avocado? A bit of banana? In any case, it was thick and not sugary at all and I loved it. The breakfast menu seems to be a little less interesting than their lunch menu sadly, but it was still good. Extremely filling. And I love the amount of greens they put on most of their menu, too — makes it a bit more than just a heaping pile of greasy breakfast. I haven’t tried the sweets but they are tempting me more and more, I will possibly buy some slices of cake or get some macaroons to treat myself for my graduation or something. Ugh, now I want to go there for lunch! Do I even need to say anything about their interior and décor? It’s gorgeous and classy, even though it can be hard to find a proper seat for more than two people at a time. Best place to chillax on a Saturday/Sunday morning if you don’t have anything else to do.

Coffee was pretty horrid. The sweets are where its at(sort of — one of three were exceptional, the other was okay). A beautiful setting, but no photos allowed!

Hands down one of the best french style café in Brisbane. Lovely coffee, excellent ambience and delicious tasty morsels to tempt even the fussiest sweet tooth. The staff are always friendly and professional and the food is simply divine.

I’m a fan, I’m a super fan, I’m a forever fan. I love this place, and everything about it. From the floors to the ceilings, and everything in-between, I simply love French Twist. Best coffee I’ve had in Brisbane. I always know that I can expect to get a robust flavorful cup of coffee without fail. Service is excellent. I love the fact there is a man behind the counter with a lovely French accent. The rest of the staff are friendly, always ready to greet you with a warm smile. I love the ambiance of this place. I feel like I am in a lounge in Versailles. Just go and find out for yourself that you too will become a forever fan.

The chai here is simply amazing, with a consistent flavour that most places seem to find difficult to master. The coffee has been a little hit and miss, so I tend to go here for afternoon tea when I’m less likely to want coffee! I’ve never eaten a full meal here, but have certainly had my fair share of sweets. There’s just so much to choose from. The separate macaron display is really enticing too. I love the atmosphere here, but sometimes find it a little difficult to get a seat. The service is always really kind, and they don’t seem to mind when I take a while to make up my mind.

Ambiance was ok, I’ve been to better tea shops and bakery/café’s in my time. I was quite disappointed because we went for morning tea, and received our pastries in 5 minutes, but had to wait 15 minutes for our tea. Turns out it was sitting on the counter, waiting for the server to drop off at our table. Not the best experience, but definitely not the worst. Would be willing to give it another try when they add a bigger tea selection to their menu, which happens to be in the next couple weeks.

I love the coffee in a soup bowl, their Macarons are pretty good too! Some of the staff are a little snooty, I guess they are really getting into the French persona, eitherway really good café vibe when sitting outside.

This is one of the most beautifully decorated cafes in Brisbane. No matter whether you sit outside enjoying the sunshine, or inside on their mismatching chairs, it’s a great place to go to enjoy delicious food, drinks and sweets. The only bad thing I can possibly say is that the view when you sit outside isn’t the best; on one side you’re faced with Woolworths, while on the other the main, busy road and entrance to the carpark greet you. Somehow it still manages to be pleasant, probably because of how much your tastebuds are enjoying the occasion. On a rainy day it’s very cosy to sit inside among the gorgeous French country décor, order a strong coffee and indulge in one of their scrumptious lavender macaroons. They also have fantastic café style lunches; baguettes and other items along those lines.

This is one of my parents favourite cafes and I can see why. ALthough it’s part of a chain the Paddington location is loaded with panache, with its authentic period furniture, stacked old leather suitcases serving as tables and exposed rough brick walls. When I catch up with them here we usually sit in the front room, which has great natural light and stacks of glossy magazines to enjoy. There is also some outdoor seating near the front entrance which makes a great place to sit on a sunny day. On the food and drink side of things the coffee is consistently good and I really like their cabinet’s selection of filled baguettes and sandwiches(they do a turkey & brie one which I like especially). There’s plenty on offer for the sweet tooth as well, like pane au chocolat, fruit tarts, macarons etc. But the pick of the bunch is their renowned custard slice, a classic French ‘millefuille’, which means it has a the third layer of pastry which compartmentalises two delicious custardy sections. The crispness of the pastry juxtaposed against the oozing custard makes for a very pleasant textural contrast, making the icing just the proverbial.

This is my favourite French Twist in Brisbane. Housed in the renovated Army Barracks that got a massive overhaul a few years ago, it has the true essence of what French Twist should be all about: French chic. Distressed concrete walls, high ceilings and ornate doors combined with gorgeous Parisien style furniture make this a gorgeous spot to grab a coffee. I can’t help but pick up a cheeky baguette while I’m here — it must be the French theme getting to me. They also do soups in winter, and there’s nothing cosier than curling up with a steamy hot bowl on a fabulous chaise longue and chatting to a wonderful mind. In terms of coffee, French Twist is usually quite reliable. I sometimes find their coffee a little hot but the big bowls of coffee generally come out quite well, and I love them purely for the gimmick. Everytime I walk into this French Twist, I feel a little ‘ooh la la’. Great blend of décor, setting and good cuisine.

I have been to a few ‘French Twist’ and this is the best one! For their ‘Barracks’ store, they have really put an effort into making in look more of a sit-down café rather than a take-away coffee and cake place(like most of their shopping centre stores). Generally I like to come to ‘French Twist’ for their authentic tasting French patisserie such as ‘Mille Feuille’, tartes and croissants. Something unique that the Barrack’s store offers is large selection of French cheese and wine. Sharing a cheese platter and some wine with a few good friends is an excellent way to end the day and doing it in this fine little café just makes is even better. ‘French Twist’ cafes are great wherever you go but the one at thee Barracks is particularly good as it offers more than your average shopping centre ‘French Twist’ would.

The latest outpost of French Twist cafes in Brisbane’s Petrie Terrace Barracks is by far the best. Like stepping from a busy 4 lane bypass into a back street in Saint Germain, it’s true to French patisseries and style. The ambiance is refined, with whitewashed furniture and mis-matched suitcases for side tables, wooden crates for coffee tables and atmospheric chandeliers. It’s not cheap — around $ 4 — $ 6 for cakes etc, but worth it for a special treat. The huge glass counter has cheese swirls, tartes aux citrons, proper millefeuille, sandwiches on various breads and eclairs to die for. It can get very busy and you may need to wait for a table. Try the outdoor ones if the weather is fine. They do take away on all orders as well if your eyes are bigger than your tummy!
