Elevation Hotel and Spa

I had my identity stolen, and it was used to purchase a night’s stay at this hotel. When I found out about the charge, I contacted the hotel for an explaination and figure out how to fix this, and they decided to do nothing about it. They won’t refund the purchase or even look into what happened, even with the evidence that I am in California. This is very disgusting for a company to just shrug their shoulders instead of trying to actually assist in finding out what was going on

The rooms at this hotel are nice, but we will not be returning. Service was horrible — valet: had to wait over 30 minutes for our car after calling ahead; ordered room service and was told it would be up in 20 minutes…1 hour later we called down to see what the problem was and were put on hold for over 15 minutes. Once the food finally arrived, my sandwich was beyond soggy and ended up giving me food poisoning. Indoor pool is very small and the pool deck had large white paint chips all over it and zero clean towels (was at the pool multiple times and there were never clean towels). Also, indoor hot tub was out of service and therefore the small 2 outdoor hot tubs were constantly overcrowded.

What a great place!
We had no intention on staying in Created Butte after skiing for one day but after a fender bender we were stuck in town and Elevation made that ok. Well, Elevation and the 30″ of snow on the mountain over two days! We found a good deal for a room on Expedia but I had a question while booking. I called the front desk and the sweet gal with the thick accent was so helpful, she even got us a room for $ 14 cheaper than the online offer! Unfortunately the base price for the room is the advertised one– you can expect to pay $ 20 in «mysterious hotel fees» which were never explained to me, $ 20 for «complimentary breakfast» (complimentary means something different where I come from) and $ 20 for parking! I’ve never paid to park at a hotel Ive already paid $ 140 to stay in for a single night, much less $ 20 whole dollars to park. There aren’t any other options for parking around the hotel either. So now we are up to $ 160 for a single night. That $ 99 dollar deal just got a lot more expensive. But we were desperate and mentally exhausted so we went for it. The room was hella nice, no arguing that! We even had a good view of mountains and decorated trees down the main avenue. The mountain is LITERALLY right out the back door of the hotel! We had drinks at their restaurant «9380» something I think, which were a little pricey and the bartender made 3 different adaptations to my Old Fashioned because he was out of the ingredients. But the bar was nice. Half of the front desk was super helpful but not everyone. I got wrong info from one person there that had to be corrected by another attendant and the older gentleman behind the counter didn’t seem to like me requesting band aids and one dollar bills for the Coke machines. Speaking of, the 6^th floor machine didn’t work, the fifth floor didn’t have a label for how much it was but it did have a sticker requiring exact change but the fourth floor machine was just right, only it was two floors below mine and it wasn’t near the elevator at all, it was by the stairs. The first time I used he fifth floor machine I put in a quarter and got a Coke and I thought «$ 160 a night and 25¢ Cokes– Fair trade.» Imagine my surprise when I got back and it cost me $ 1.25 for a can! I went back to the fifth floor later once I knew the price and it only had Coca Cola, and nothing else.
Our complimentary breakfast was a joke. Our waiter was the ONLY employee that showed up for work and was overwhelmed. It took us an hour to get out of there and when we sat down there was only one other couple in the restaurant. The food was sub-​par and the service was terrible. In short, don’t «buy» your «complimentary breakfast,» go to the waffle shack that’s at the base of the mountain and thank me later. Our final experience with the hotel was their willingness to go out of their way for a guest. Because my car was in the shop we were stranded for two days and bought another night in the hotel, didn’t have to buy parking and didn’t buy breakfast so $ 120 for the second night wasn’t bad. When I told the front desk my situation they told me I could catch the shuttle back to the mountain out of town, or the bell boy could come pick me up! WOW, that’s service. I’m not the type to be a bother so we took the shuttle but gone offer alone was impressive.
We planned to spend the last day skiing then go get the car and head home. Well if the cars in the shop in another town and checkout is at 11, where to I put my bags? The bell stand actually took my bags and put them in a locked room so I could ski. This is even considering I wasn’t staying in the hotel anymore. That impressed me!
A couple minor hiccups but overall an awesome place to stay, and I’m cheap. For $ 40 extra than the cheapest place in Gunnison I got to stay right on the mountain in a super swanky room– I’ll recommend it and I’ll be back!

Stayed here during the early season (12÷7−12÷10) and loved it. I purchased this as a Groupon, and have nothing but nice things to say. While some people mentioned the resort fee, the $ 20/​night charge was outlined on Groupon’s website and then explained at check-​in again, so no surprises there.
Only three lifts were open and we basically had the hotel to ourselves. The ski valet was an extremely nice option to have so we didn’t have to haul our equipment back and forth to our room.
We heard that there was wine available during the early evening, but we must have missed it every night. We only ate at the restaurant once, for breakfast, and it was phenomenal. A full breakfast for two ran us just $ 20. The rest of our meals we ate in the town itself or at Camp 4 Coffee (a must visit!!).
All in all, Elevation had great, friendly staff. We would definitely come back.

I can not begin to tell you what a special weekend I had at Elevation Hotel & Spa with my daughter over the weekend. Everyone, from the minute we drove in, went beyond making us feel welcomed and comfortable. I can not wait to take the whole family. We spent a day at the spa with massages and the staff was exceptional, enjoyed wonderful meals at the restaurant and once the wait staff was amazing and we were guided to shopping, eating and other things to do. I can not stop telling others how wonderful your staff at the hotel & spa accomidated us and treated the royal treatment we received! Thank you and we will be back!

I purchased this off groupon and didn’t know what to expect. I have had friends that stayed here and liked it but didn’t really elaborate in conversation. I booked over thanksgiving and got a good price. It was about 90 dollars per night.
I had never been to Crested Butte before so when I drove up, the sights are breathtaking. I planned on skiing and Elevation is right on the hill and about 100 yds to the chair. This made it super easy. Not a ton of snow so there weren’t many runs open but I still had fun.
Pulled into the hotel and they offer free valet-​thought that was great. There is a 20 per night Parkin fee but I’ve seen that at numerous places. Still feel that is kind of cheap of a hotel to do. Went upstairs to check in and found that the hotel is massive. The clerk offered an upgrade for 25 per night, which I declined. Then he went ahead and upgraded for free (super nice staff and super nice rooms).
They have a free wine and cheese nightly recap. They are also located by numerous other hotels and locations which I would recommend to explore. The town is only about 3 miles away and there are free shuttles that run all day. The town is great and quaint, good food.
Elevation hotel is very nice and I will stay here again if a good deal pops up again.

I love this place! Everytime we come to CB we stay here! They have a wine HH and the customer service is AMAZING! I love the hot tubs when the sun is setting on the Butte, there is a parking lot not to far away that you don’t have to pay at. The restaurant in the hotel is delicious and a tad expensive but HEY its a mountain town, get over it! Rent the mountain bikes from the hotel and go to the Lupin Trail around spring time, Aspens and wildflowers with a view to boot. We rented 2 mountain bikes for 4 hours, only $ 63! Check out the firpit and the view, super relaxing. The Rooms are incredibly decorated and the beds… OH THE BEDS… So SOOOO comfortable. Down comforter, good pillows and quiet! NEVER had an issue here. We also typically buy the Groupon Deals offered. Give this place a try!

Just bought a groupon deal for $ 99 a night. It ended up being $ 160 a night with all the bullshit charges the hotel charges. Total rip off and was not worth the effort. plus it was the off season. $ 20 a night for parking when nobody was there. Service was horrible!!! Will never stay there again

Stayed in off season (Fall). Nice stay. Wonderful room– large, clean, small kitchenette. The bathroom is a bit more spacious than most. Wifi reliable. Hi-​def TV. Staff were professional and helpful. We would return. The location– especially in Winter, the ski lift is immediately outside the hotel– is hard to beat.
I don’t mind the parking fee, but believe the other fee should be optional. The wine reception, the gym, ski storage, hot tub, etc, are services you should be able to opt in day by day. Using these would be cheap for $ 20/​day. But if you aren’t using them, well, it is deceptive and fraudulent to surprise guests with this DAILY fee. Just a cheap gotcha for such a nice hotel– and that clearly angers people and directly results in poor reviews. (We are here and hiking every day and don’t need the gym. We are eating out every day and miss the wine reception. We didn’t bring bikes. We are not using the «business center.» Free local calls? We have mobiles.)
Would give this hotel 5 stars but the $ 20/​day charge is simply a silly and deceptive business decision.

Excellent rooms. Beautifully furnished. Very nice staff. The only reason for three stars is the fine print. They charge you for things you didn’t even realiz you were being charged for. Like the resort fee. $ 20 for the use of the hot tub and «free» wine tastings. It’s touted as free wine tasting but it’s not free so you better use all of those amenities because otherwise you are paying for nothing.
And it’s all in the fine print. Nothing up front about all those extras!

$ 20 undisclosed resort fee will show up on your credit card. Had to ask for a chargeback, because the hotel was uncooperative in getting it fixed. UPDATE: The hotel fraudulently claimed that we authorized the charge, which we did not, and now we’re having to appeal.
DO NOT GO HERE. Avoid like the plague. They are intentionally hitting you with deceptive charges.

The lodge definitely has highlights: super friendly concierge, a bar patio with a mountain view and fire pit, a spacious room with clean and had nice amenities (bottled water, fridge, robes, microwave), close to town, and a very comfortable bed. However, there were some things about the lodge that were rather irksome.
First, they charge $ 20 a day for parking and $ 20 a day for the ’ resort fee ’ which felt like a total gimmick. They offered $ 20 off a spa treatment which ultimately just made me mad considering the other charges… (how about you just apply that to my parking? Thanks.) I think the rest of my complaints boil down to the fact that they tacked on so many extra charges but didn’t do anything to deserve to.
The parking garage is tiresome to get to and difficult to navigate.
The view from our room was lacking. It mainly overlooked a sloppy roof (that could definitely use a make over) and other balconies. There weren’t any chairs on the patio which seems like a common sense thing to include and the flooring on the patio looked like it was still being renovated.
We’ve been to better for a more fair price.

While we appreciated the complimentary mountain bike valet, we would have appreciated a great deal more the option to park our car without incurring a $ 20 per day additional charge. Unless you sky dive into this location or take the worlds most expensive Über, expect to spend at least that much for the privilege of parking your car. For those frugal folks out there, you won’t have a choice, there isn’t a free overnight parking space for miles. Rather than including the cost of parking in their room fee, they tack it on daily to appear less expensive than they are. And don’t expect their parking area to be well maintained. They only charge $ 20 per day and apparently that isn’t enough to keep their lot in good condition.
Another exciting charge they tack on is a resort fee. Because apparently unlike the rest of the hotels you may have stayed at in your life which didn’t charge extra for using or not using the pool, hot tub, and spa, they feel the need to. Don’t expect the front desk to have any idea of their spa hours or services because they don’t. I guess they would need to charge more than $ 20 per day to keep current on their properties advertised amenities.
Final additional insult is a $ 4.75 per day or so association fee since not only do they have hotel rooms, they have owner units as well. Rather than charging the COA owners their dues, they thought it would make more sense to offset this particular cost by charging hotel guests a portion of it as well.
Only bright spot during the entire visit was the bike valet. It was a nice amenity which kept our dirty bikes out of our rooms. The guys in the bike shop were also very helpful with trail recommendations and information. Sadly they did not make up for the rest.
Overall a pretty poor experience from the confused guy who attempted to get our luggage to our room to the disinterested front desk staff at checkout. I did reach out to the hotel front desk manager Pam and she did indeed respond. Of course her response didn’t actually address any of their shortcomings, but she did offer a discounted room for our next visit. We will pass.

The room was fine enough. Clean and mostly well kept. One issue is that there is no AC and our room was extremely hot. Even with opening all the windows to get the cool mountain air, our room was uncomfortably warm and we had no way to turn it down. It made for uncomfortable sleeping conditions.
The staff however was terrible. $ 20/​day to park the car. fine it’s a hotel and I can expect that. Problem is the valet is a bunch of stoner kids who don’t care and take forever to get your car. It took them 20 minutes to get our car each time we needed it and I could see my car from where we were standing waiting to get it. Also, we had our bikes there and Elevation offers a bike valet as they don’t want you to bring your bikes to the room. Again, the bike valet took 15 minutes to grab our bikes. Just seemed ridiculous. I tipped all these valets, just because I used to work in the service industry, but they certainly didn’t deserve it.
In addition, we had a broken coffee pot in our room. Ok, no big deal as we called the front desk to get a replacement. When no one came for about 2 hours, we called again and they sent someone up a half hour later. They just handed us a new coffee pot in the box and asked us to set it up. When I asked for them to take the broken one, I apparently «put off» the employee by asking such a request.
Find another place up in CB, like the Grand Lodge where the staff is much nicer and actually cares about their guests. This just isn’t a very well run place.

Don’t waste your time and money. I booked this hotel/​spa on Groupon for an advertised $ 89/​night. In reality, I paid over double due to the hotel’s hidden fees. They really go the extra mile to nickel and dime their customers. Once we arrived, we were required to pay a $ 20 parking fee to keep our car here overnight. Once we checked in, we were told there would be a $ 25 charge to use the gym and pool. Also, there was a $ 30 tax and service charge on the invoice.
In addition to this location’s scheme of charging you for everything, it wasn’t even that nice. Sure, the room was large and up to date, but our window screens were busted, there was severe water damage to the deck outside, and the electricity in our room went out for over an hour. I’ve had much better experiences at 2-​star hotels than this so-​called 4-​star.
Long story short, if you’re looking for a deal, skip this place. You’ll pay much more than you bargained for and could have had a better stay somewhere else.

Look, I am very knowledgable about the 1^st Amendment. I am an advocate of guaranteed freedoms concerning religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition. But this particular staff on this particular night right off the bat offended me by wearing this t-​shirt. This weekend is also a special weekend for my friend who also happens to be Vietnamese-​American. I don’t think her family of mostly refugee backgrounds would appreciate this either.
Plus, he smelled like a baby bear in need of a desperate shower.
Will update my review as my stay progresses. For now, I’m going to leave it at this.

The hotel is very nice. We came here for our 15 year anniversary. Unfortunately the wiFi didn’t work, the inside hot tub was broken and hot tub outside was cold.

The location of this hotel is incredible. Truly ski-​in and ski-​out with a ski storage right near that entrance. I’ve stayed here a few times and have been generally a big fan; however, at the end of this stay we had a billing issue and the front desk lady bordered on rude and ignorant with how she unhelpfully handled the situation.
We reserved the hotel room through ski package, ie we paid the company that put together the package and they interfaced with the hotel, airline, bus co. etc. All we did was show up and check-​in for our reservatios. While checking out of the hotel, the staff informed us they were charging our credit card on file because our room hadn’t been paid yet. The room should have been covered in the price of the packaged paid to the travel package company. It turns out the check from the travel company got lost/​never delivered.
My dad tried to explain this to the [front desk manager?]. This lady insisted that there’s no way this room was booked through a package because of XYZ in their system-​she told us we absolutely called and made the reservations ourselves. This was patently false as we had nothing to do with the reservation-​I had no idea what she was going on about with her computer. As a result, she was unwilling to hold off on charging the room to the card and was uninterested in our explation.
I understand they don’t want people skipping out on hotel bills but they already had our credit card on file and we have stayed at this location at least a few times. They could have just put a hold on the card for the amount or showed some good faith for a repeat customer! Now we have to follow this whole situation and make sure they eventually back the huge charge off the credit card.

Watch for the hidden fees before you book a reservation. Book in advance and they’ll add an «amenities fee» at check-​in. This is not optional and cost our family an additional $ 300 on top of the original price.
Even more frustrating when they pulled out a sheet with the tiniest font and the charge highlighted in the fine print. We were obviously not the only family with concerns if they keep a piece of paper standing by to prove it was there in the first place.

This hotel is a joke, they charge way too much and they have hidden fees at check in. We were slapped with an additional fee every night we stayed. We basically had to pay an additional $ 300 on top of our room rates. The staff is everything except professional, we asked several questions and very few were answered.
Someone in our group specifically booked a mountain view room in advance. We show up and they moved all of our rooms with out notice.
I would not suggest coming to this hotel unless you want to have a bad experience.

Ich war ca eine Woche mit Frau und Kind (8 Monate) dort. Super Anbindung zum Lift, Schöné, große Zimmer. Mit Küche! Leider wurde immer nur seh oberflächlich geputzt. Man hatte stets das Gefühl, dass die Zimmer am liebsten garnicht geputzt werden. Parken kostet min 15 $ am Tag. Wer spät einkehrt, läuft Gefahr keinen Parkplatz mehr zu finden. Hätte ich die Rechnung nicht überprüft, hätte uns das Hotel über 600 $ zu viel berechnet. Ich würde dort nicht noch mal hinfahren.
