Paolo is probably one of the nicest and knowledgeable tile guys in the City. I had a very difficult problem with my shower — -could not figure out where the water from my shower was leaking to the basement. Paolo was able to diagnose and recommend a beautiful fix that not only saved me thousands of dollars towards a total shower remodel and yet turned out making my existing shower more beautiful. He and his associate Carlos are both a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend Frediani Custom Tile, Inc. to anyone wanting high quality work. Their attention to detail is so outstanding that you know you hired the best when they get started. Rest assured you will not be disappointed. They get 5+ in my book. I’d add that they keep the job site very clean. That is always a big plus when doing any home remodel.

We recently had a large kitchen tile job by Paolo and from start to finish he was a pleasure to work with and extremely skilled at his craft. How many times do contractors actually promptly return calls, emails, texts? Well he is remarkable at customer care and service. He helped us pick out choice of tile, made a first assessment of layout and footage. Showed up exactly on time. Was Spotless and incredibly exacting in his work. He came in nearly $ 800 below his estimate range and his price overall was very competitive from a couple of quotes I had gotten over the phone by other tilers. He even kept an eye on our dog as he was home with him while we were at work. Paolo finished the job on time, below budget-​and beautifully done. All the people in our parking and front desk even commented on how nice he was coming in and out over a few days time.
He spent the time to patiently explain every aspect if the job and that made us feel confident of his expertise. His terrific finished product speaks for itself– I will try to post a photo if it at the end of this. Any future tiling we ever need we will definitely go right to him and you can tell we HIGHLY recommend him. And no we are not related in any way!

Paolo was fabulous to work with! He (& Carlos) installed tile around our fireplace insert. Although the project sounds straightforward, because the insert has a curved arch shape, it was a challenge. But Paolo knows what he is doing, and discussed all options with us, advised on potential problems, made recommendations when necessary — and made it fun! My husband & I laid out all of the honey onyx tile, in a pattern that we liked, and Paolo installed it just the way we wanted. I would highly recommend him for any tile job, and plan to work with him again when we remodel our kitchen.

Several years ago Paolo did a wonderful job in replacing the lengthy front step tiles to my home.
Recently I incurred water damage in the downstairs area, including the kitchen there.
I called upon Paolo to replace the linoleum floor there with porcelain tiles and some travertine mosaic tiles for a portion of the wall.
Paolo was here for many days and his outstanding work has resulted in my now having a glorious kitchen in appearance!
In a word, he is absolutely meticulous!
He really cares and that shows!
He is a wonderful person and I only wish that there were more than 5 stars to assign to him!

We hired Frediani for our fireplace tile. Paulo was very detailed about how he was going to proceed. The job was done on time and the result was exactly as expected. Could not have asked for a better experience. Too bad we had the exact opposite experience with Okells (that’s another review). I would highly recommend Frediani and we will certainly call him back if any other tile work is required. Thank you for the great job.

We also cannot say enough good things about Paolo and his crew. It starts with the fact that Paolo actually responded to an email request (how refreshing is that!). I didn’t meet Paolo, but my husband talked to him on the phone several times and said he was very professional and a really nice guy. He also gave us a good price (not cheap, just good — we’d had other tile jobs done here and in our previous home, so we knew what was high, low and. «Just right», and this felt «just right»). Second, Paolo and his installer, Carlos, always showed up when they said they said they would, and kept us informed (even calling to tell us jury duty might interfere with the schedule). Carlos helped my husband select the layout and grout width. They set up a little «clean area» in our dining room, and left the place spotless. They did the work on sequential days, unlike our previous installer would would do a half day’s work and then not show up for another week. And most of all, Carlos did an amazing installation!

We can’t say enough great things about Paolo! His attention to detail (hand honing stones!, precision cutting of glass subway tile, etc.), meticulous prep work and tile setting, and neat and clean work ethics were phenomenal – and our bathroom tile job looks AMAZING! He even explains each step of the way-​which I found helpful, and helps me to appreciate his work and the room that was created in my home even more! We may never stop standing in the doorway admiring his work!
12/​2015-​UPDATE since Paolo has also tiled the kitchen in our house now-​AGAIN 5+ STARS!
What a skilled artisan-​knowledgeable, professional, personable, meticulous and leaves a sparkling clean work site. Paolo and Carlos did an amazing job on the new kitchen floor with some very LARGE tiles and then Paolo returned to set the mosaic backsplash which was very small, thin glass tiles that were not easy to work with – and it looks amazing – we couldn’t have asked for more!

We hired Paolo Frediani to install tile in our Sunset District center patio, and I honestly wish I could give him and his installer Simon six stars. The first thing Paolo did when he came by to give us an estimate was assess our initial problem (which was a leaky center patio), «think out loud» through a number of alternatives, and then tell us that he wasn’t completely sure whether tiling over the cement patio would solve our leak problems. After all, we really didn’t know whether the leak was coming from under the doors or windows, through the cracked concrete, or from somewhere else. So we ended up hiring The Restoration Company (see my other Unilocal reviews) to put down some waterproof elastomeric paint before we called Paolo back to do the tile. And I could not be happier with just how beautiful this tile looks. My God! He has an established relationship with Daltile in South San Francisco, which helps ensure tile quality, price, etc. Simon, the installer, was an absolute artisan, and his careful, excruciatingly detailed work in our patio-​of-​many-​angles showed in the finished masterpiece. In addition, Paolo is such a perfectionist that he spent many hours ensuring that every last detail was talked through and taken care of – details I probably wouldn’t have noticed on my own in a million years. And he and Simon were always on time and always cleaned up very well, taking their extra grout, etc. back with them so as not to dump anything that would harm the environment. And their rates are really good for the exquisite work they did. It’s not often that you find a contractor who is so decent, honorable, talented, and a pleasure to work with. Now I need to stop writing so I can go stare lovingly at my patio.
