Jackson Catering and Events

After having no success with some other caterers, we chose Jackson Catering for our recent wedding. Our deal with them nearly fell through as I was disappointed in the discount offered to us for providing our own marinated chicken and prime rib from our favorite butcher shop, Swingle Meat company. Chris, the owner and I were able to work out a deal and we proceeded to have them cater our event for about 150 adults including full bar service.
Danica did a great job answering our questions, handling our concerns and setting up our tastings. Some areas of disappointment and frustration for us were we were never told that our day of coordinator switched back to our original coordinator. I found out two days before our wedding when I dropped off the meat. I was also disappointed when multiple guests complained that they could not make Bloody Mary’s because they did not have tomato juice. I was assured by our coordinator Cory that all mixers were included.
The food was pretty good overall, however they overcooked our chicken. We were offered to be served or go through the buffet line. We opted to be served, however we were never asked what we would like. Needless to say, I didn’t eat most of my plate because it was not what I wanted. They also did not save any of the appetizers for us.
We know that every event is different, but their liquor estimate was rather poor. We ended up with over 60% of our wine left over and it was not cheap. We would have ran out of tequila quickly had I not bought far more than their estimate called for. I don’t hold any animosity for this as every group is different.
Lastly, they ran out of water towards the end of the evening and began to scoop water out of the ice bucket by hand. Having worked in the restaurant industry for over twenty years, this made me question their overall cleanliness and sanitation. It grossed out our guests and I and pissed me off.
It is over and done now and we had a blast at our wedding as did our guests. However we would not recommend Jackson to anyone and we are disappointed in the service we received.

Jackson catered a small company party for us in our home, and it was perfect. I am all about the food, first and foremost because I am an excellent cook myself and take no shortcuts. We had prime rib, a pasta dish that was so good it could’ve been dessert, perfectly roasted veggies and a crisp, fresh green salad. Dessert was their take on shortcake and was indescribably delicious. Everything was up to my standard. I am secondly about presentation and sincerity. This team was fantastic– personable and efficient. They weren’t robots come to do a job– they were real people putting their best feet forward. Evan, Jessica, Andrew (chef extraordinaire), Trevor and Tyson– thank you for transforming our home into a 5 star restaurant and leaving it looking better than you found it! Can’t wait to team up again. Your expertise has never been more appreciated.
If you, Reader, like I, research these reviews to find the best caterer, take my word– I’ve tried many and this is my new go-​to. I’m already planning for next year’s party.

Jackson Catering did a luncheon for me that was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.
Working with them was seamless. They assisted with the menu, checked out the venue site and boom, it was done. Leftovers were packaged up and I did not have to lift a finger. A Karsh

I had the pleasure of organizing a group dinner for 20 people, held inside the Fulton Avenue restaurant location. All the guests raved about the food, the service, and the overall dining experience.
As the organizer of the dinner, and someone who has organized many, many events for groups of 15 – 100 people, I want to shout from the rooftops how wonderful this business was to deal with. All of my calls and emails were returned promptly and I always felt that the Restaurant Manager, Cory, was genuinely pleased to hear from me — even if I had another request or another question. Cory worked with the budget I gave him, provided guidance on the menu, and was very accommodating and helpful. They even prepared a special vegan meal for two guests who required that (and it was delicious).
On the evening of the dinner, the spacious dining room was all set and ready in advance for us to add our custom table decorations and set up for our entertainment and activities. Using the restaurant sound system for our own dinner music (played through a smartphone) was no problem. The ambiance was great, and having the whole restaurant all to ourselves was fun!

The group cannot wait to come back to Jackson Catering for another private party — and next time I have a feeling it will be more than 20 people, because as one guest put it in an email to the group, «If you are looking for privacy, good parking, great conversation, and a meal that is equal to any five star dining experience I have ever had, then you really need to attend the next time we go there.» That pretty much sums it up!

Jackson Catering was one of the highlights of our charity auction. They worked with us on our budget and were very understanding when additional paperwork was needed for our governing organization. The food was fantastic, the service was unbeatable, and the staff was all incredibly knowledgeable. Highly recommended!

Jackson Catering is hands down the best catering company in town. Not only is their customer service stellar, their food is TO DIE FOR each and every time. They did my wedding two years ago and everyone in attendance said it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. I just hired them to cater a 250 person dinner at a local winery I manage and once again they blew our socks off with delicious food! The food was amazing and everyone was complimenting us all night on it. Our event didn’t exactly go as planned (on our end) and there were some unhappy people at first, but once the food came out… literally everyone changed their tune and were completely happy once again. Thank you for making my event a huge success! Richard, Evan, Corey, and Chris are so great to work with! I will be using them many more times in the future!

We used Jackson Catering & Events for my sister’s wedding in June 2015 and we still have guests complimenting the food. The staff was extremely helpful, professional and a pleasure to work with. Both Evan and Danica made our event run smoothly and we couldn’t be happier with the quality of food and service we received.

WE had my mother’s 80’s birthday party in their restaurant a year ago. Food was very good (everything). They are very easy to work with. My only complain was that, the server did not go around to ask people if they wanted anything to drink (like coffee wine). He never took any initiation to refill drinks. I had constantly ask him.

Catered our wedding in 2011 and did a fabulous job. The food was tailored to our tastes and presented in cute, memorable ways. Our guests loved the Mashed Potato Bar where they could create their own gourmet mashed potato creations in martini glasses. Pasta primavera was delicious and their gourmet cheese plates had some neat addition you don’t often find, such as the Humboldt Fog bleu cheese. Delicious! Reliable, friendly customer service and the chef has a great palate. Thanks for making our New Years Eve Midnight wedding a memory to last a lifetime.

Jackson Catering is AMAZING! It’s been 3 months since our wedding and people are still talking about our food, some even tell us they crave it from time to time. They are very accommodating with everything from custom children menus to diet restrictions. They are a joy to work with and they’re waiting staff is great also. 100% recommend them!!!

Today 12/​18/​2014 I picked up a catering order from this wonderful Company. Our company was having a Christmas lunch and after a few places fell through I called Jackson catering and they helped us plan a menu for all the our employees to eat (we have a lot of picky eaters and food restrictions). When picking up the good everyone was overly nice and very helpful! Everyone loved the food! Almost all the food was gone! I would 100% recommend this place to anyone.

We were recently married at the Newcastle Wedding Gardens in October 2014, and Jackson Catering is the company this venue uses. The food at the tasting was impressive, and I was pleased with how many options were vegetarian as I have many vegetarian friends.
All I heard after the wedding was how good the food was. Many of my guests went back for seconds or thirds, and several people told me that this was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. You didn’t even need a knife for the meat as it just melted in your mouth. On top of that, the staff is very nice and accommodating. Highly recommended!

My husband and I worked opposite schedules during our wedding planning so we were unable to attend the tasting together. The company made a little «to go box» for my husband to bring home to me. They made the entire process easy, no stress they took care of everything!
We were actually unable to meet with the company to discuss the setup of the reception prior to the wedding due to scheduling conflicts. I was FREAKING out the day before and decided what ever happens, happens. After the wedding my new husband and I walked into the reception and were AMAZED. It was perfect, better than what we could have ever planned.
The food = perfect. Easy flow to disperse and everything tasted wonderful. Nothing dry or without flavor.
I would recommend them for any large gathering. They will make it easy, stress free and bring the best food and service. No complaints.

If I could give zero stars I would. The customer service was so bad which I was really shocked about because they were so highly recommended by my wedding venue.
We called Jackson and left a message with the receptionist to have an event planner call us back. It seemed like the guy didn’t bother to write anything down or Evan who sent me the email reply didn’t bother to listen because the email I received was a generic one that didn’t take into account anything that my inquiry was about (hor duoerves for a guestlist of 100 for a wedding).
I called Evan and left a phone message explaining what I needed. He called me back the same day but told me he didn’t really listen to my message cause he was on route to another event. Seriously?! I thought it was so unprofessional for him to just call me back without even listening to my message. He then sounded really put off that I didn’t want a full sit down catering service. He was pretty short with me because he said he was driving and told me he was going to email me the menu. I replied to his email and summarized our conversation just to make sure we have clear communication. It didn’t matter because he never called or emailed me back.
A month later, at the urge of my venue telling me that it was unusual of them to not reply, my fiancé and i emailed them again. Evan’s email reply was that he had a lot of events that week and if we wanted we can contact him next Tuesday.
We seriously shouldn’t have to beg for Jackson to accept our business. No matter how busy they are or how small our business was, they should keep a certain amount of professionalism. They totally blew us off. I will never suggest them to anyone. Someone who can’t be professional to potential customers can not be trusted with your wedding event.

Richard and his team at Jackson catering did our wedding last weekend. We were having an Indian/​American fusion wedding and we wanted a little bit of both kinds of food to please all of our guests. The food was great at our tasting, but even better on the day of the wedding! We got so many compliments… people loved it!
They are also really helpful in other ways; e.g. setting up chairs/​tables, setting up centerpieces, breaking everything down, cleaning up after a night of festivities. They were always so friendly and they held onto our centerpieces at their location for a couple of days until we were able to pick everything up! I only wish I had better understood the extent of the services that they provide sooner as it would have saved us a lot stress/​planning in the long run.

EVERY SINGLE staff member is a true professional and a delight to work with. They uphold their contract with the client to the highest degree. Our venue wanted to overcharge us for something we signed with Jackson Catering and they were faithful to our contract and stood by their work. They work with the venue you will use and make it real special, as a catering company should do. They are very confident in the work they do, so they are completely up front with the services they do, and we didn’t have a single hidden fee. They make it easy to do business with them, they are a one stop shop and charge extremely fair. They made our special event truly a night to remember. Thank you Evan, Cory, and everyone else who helped. I WOULDN’T RECOMMEND ANY ONE ELSE THAN JACKSON CATERING!

Jackson Catering was the best choice I could have made. We had a birthday brunch with 50 people at their location on Fulton Avenue and it went perfectly. Evan was great to work with, the food was beautiful and delicious (everyone said so), and the servers were very competent and sweet.
I was worried that their room might be too small but it was perfect. My family and all our guests are still raving about the food and the event. I couldn’t be happier with them.
