Cartune Independent Service

I’ve been taking my car to Cartune for a few months now, and they are my go to shop for all my repairs. I love how knowledgeable they are about modified cars, particularly Japanese imports, and know how to work with them to make them run right. Having a lowered car, I usually run into the problem of shops being unable to put my car on the lift, or even refusing to do so due to the liability of damaging it, but Cartune doesn’t mind it at all. I highly recommend this shop for all your cars needs!

Well, I guess I found a new personal Subaru mechanic for my 04 STi. I found Car Tune because I was next door buying oil for an oil change because my delivery was late. And Pann Auto was the only place in San Diego that carries Motul (and shit was it cheaper than the stuff I ordered, I’m going to return my order). Anyway I got lazy and asked if they can change my oil, long story short, Pann referred me next door to Car Tune. Labor for the change was just pocket change, but I met Ridel, and he’s the only one who will touch the notorious EJ motors of Subaru. He’s very smart, he knows it because he discovered a previous issue that supposedly another Subaru specialist had fixed A YEAR AGO. Soooo we talked it up and he pointed out the most obvious things that he recommended for the car. It’s the littlest things that count essentially. So T, the lady at the desk, professional and very nice, gave me quotes/​estimates for all the things Ridel recommended. And wow the estimates are dirt cheap parts/​labor. She even gave me a quote for a job that I am voluntarily trying to get done. No one tried to say «no you don’t need that», or «or you actually need this and that»… No up selling so bull. I’m glad to have found Car Tune.

Reading reviews before making decisions? Well, if your like me, you have an older car and yo want performance work done, you don’t have many reputable options. Most shops work on German and Italian imports (this is what I found after researching). So good luck finding what you need (there aren’t that many options in SD), unless you are balling and pushing a newer whip you can find more than a few performance aftermarket mods and tuning shops. I chose Cartune because I had met a gentleman on the street who recommended them. Period. I never hear people taking about their mechanics. Now I am talking about my new mechanic. I can’t wait to go back!!!
Great services, no B.S., didn’t try to up-​sale or push products or services I didn’t go there for. Fast service; I was in and out just like the manager said I would be. These people are all about performance. If you want to sip a latte and get your nails done while you listen to Justin Bieber in the waiting area take your car someplace else (the place is clean as an auto shop should be), you are not getting anything special in the waiting area.

I’ve taken 3 of my own cars plus co workers cars here for all kinds of services. Staff is super cool and work gets done fast, right with reasonable prices.

This place took me awhile to find but it was worth the find why? Quality. been to dealers and lube shop nothing to compare from quality work with excellent prices no pressure from these guys from tune up, mods anything u name it look for Justin say u saw my Unilocal he will take care of u with care. 5 stars for these guys!

I have nothing but good things to say about Cartune. I’ve been a long time customer and I’ve finally gotten around to write a review. Justin, Jeff, and everyone at Cartune have provided nothing but great service to me and my vehicles. They just recently squeezed me in at the last minute to get my front and rear brakes replaced on my car and and they had me in and out of the shop in about 1.5 hours and thats including ordering my parts and having them delivered. This is the only shop I’ll trust and as long as they are open, they will have my business. Thanks Justin, Jeff, and crew for taking such good care of me and my cars.

I’ve been going to Justin at Car Tune since my recent acquisition of a classic Impreza (my latest project). They have performed a number of tasks on the car from a mundane oil change and inspection to the installation of a new set of coil overs (including a ride height adjustment, camber and toe set up, and alignment). Justin and his team have been great to work with, skilled, knowledgable, approachable, willing to take time with customers, and most importantly, trustworthy when it’s come to my project car. I would (and already have) recommend (ed) their services to friends and fellow enthusiasts. I’m glad I was finally able to find a decent shop here in San Diego.

Took my honda here for a 105k routine maintenance. I have to compliment the manager, Justin and receptionist, T for genuinely caring about their customers and the service that they provide. Cartune has the feel of a friendly shop where people in the local car scene go to either to hang out and talk shop or get their cars worked on. Justin frequently came back to the office to show me worn parts from my car, a dead bird that somehow ended up in my bumper (I’ll post a pict later), and he took the time to explain his recommendations. He even waived one of the service charges for an unexpected replacement of a worn part. Their prices were reasonable.
I’d recommend making an appointment since they seemed pretty busy all day on Friday. Thanks guys for keeping my ride reliable! I’ll be sure to send more imports to you

What a great company. Justin was very upfront about what cost might be to fix my 2006 Ford F150. My truck was misfiring and was told might be the coil packs because another company supposedly changed my plugs just 15k miles earlier on a tune up. So, truck is fixed, only the plugs, plus new fuel filter, and fuel system cleaned. All in all about $ 400 cheaper than what original cost might be. Car tune saved my plugs so I can give crap to the company that supposedly changed my plugs already. Recommend to set up appointment if gonna do any work.

I took my 08 Lexus IS here to have it lowered. I provided the lowering springs. Everything went fine until I got home and popped the hood to see all of the front strut bolts only started by a few threads, not even hand tight. So I tightened them down and went about my day. Later that day I heard a rattle in the rear end. I was worried they forgot to tighten something else so I looked it all over. Everything was tight.
So I took it back to Cartunes on a Tuesday and Justin apologizes and notices that the top 6 springs on the coil are really close to each other and recommends coil dampeners. I agree and we made a appointment for Friday morning. I show up. We agree to the work. We walk next door to Pann and they don’t have the spring dampeners in stock.
Justin is not a very good manger. If you know you have a customer coming in for a specific repair and you’ve already fucked up once. Don’t you think you would have the shit on the shelf to make it right.
I’m done with this place. I’ll never set foot in there again.

–I have been a loyal customer here, since I can remember.
–I trust the mechanics and the owners with my car, which is a big deal to me.
–I like to go where I feel comfortable and the prices are reasonable.
–The services provided are always fast and I never feel like they are lying, adding extra costs, or telling me I need other maintenance for my car.
–I currently have an 2004 Honda Accord and would not take it anywhere else.
–I had an Acura Integra, before my current car and took it here also.
–These Japanese cars are made to last, and last, if they are well taken care of.
–JUSTIN and JEFFRO have been taking EXCELLENT care of my vehicle. I feel this car will be my reliable transportation, as long as I am bringing it to these guys!
–I would like to maintain this Honda for as long as I can. I will ride dirty in the «Green Machine», until I decide to get something newer.
–I got my Honda sometime around 2008, and it had 45k miles on it. It has been paid off for over a year now, and has about 150k+ miles.
**My last visit was yesterday, 5÷21÷15. I ordered 4 new tires the day before, and went in to have the new ones put on, the day after. The service was done very quickly. I could tell they were busy, but the appointment went smoothly and was seamless. It took about 35 minutes. Now, I’m rolling on some new tires, and they have an 80,000 Mile warranty.
**My second to last visit, was a month or so ago. I got an oil change and they replaced my power-​steering pump. It was making an embarrassing squealing noise. I left my car to hang out with my mom and take her to lunch. JUSTIN called me while we were still out and about (an hour or so later), to tell they were finished, pick up anytime. So quick!
—I will recommend to all my family, friends, acquaintances, and anyone else who seeks reliable and friendly auto service.
—I will continue to bring my cars to CAR TUNE /​PANN AUTO always:))

Great Service, Great Price, and Knowledgable Techs. Justin always comes through with good pricing and great service, and also worked to squeeze my car in earlier than what was available. 5 Stars well deserved!
Ridel takes care of the Subaru and he is great at repairs, if you own a Subaru ask for Ridel and you will be happy :)

This review for Cartune is long overdue. Justin, Jeff, T and the other technicians are amazing. I have brought my 2003 Hyundai Tiburon V6 since my radiator ate it 2 years ago from a hairline fracture on the plastic reservoir tank. I wanted to install a new all aluminum Mishimoto radiator and Justin more than obliged. Since then I have brought them for the following: rear wheel bearing, suspension work, power steering issues, spark plug wire replacement, emission carbon box replacement, O2 sensor issue and more. Once I finish with school, a clutch replacement and OBX LSD install will be done.
Justin and his team have been great in pointing out issues or at least informing you of when something is amiss. I would say that price their work very fairly and I could not be any happier being a customer to them. I will give a shout out to Pann Auto for carrying a lot of Redline products and GL4 transmission fluids. They are located infront of Cartune.

Best shop by far!!! Friendly staff, anything you need installed or serviced for your car, they will take care of ya… always good to call for an appointment. And while your car is getting serviced, you can relax in there waiting room… awesome prices! Best deal in town

Been going to CarTune for 2 years and hands down the best customer service I’ve ever had. All great people who are always there to help you with all your car needs and will inform you about your vehicle situation before working on your car. This shop is by far the most honest and friendly shop I’ve ever been too!

Front desk women is super nice and funny! All the guys here are all pretty cool and i dont get an awkward vibe here like all other shops! I will always tell people to come here vs ANYWHERE else!

I have visited Cartune a couple of time with friends when they had their cars serviced at that location, and always found the place to be pleasant. I recently acquired an older Acura that needed some routine maintenance and it needed to be taken care of right then and there. I usually call in and try to make an appointment to skip a busy line, but took a chance to stop by after work, the day before forth of July. (i know right) but always with a courteous hand shake and a smile Service Advisor Justin, was able to hear my concerns, offer solutions and options that work and offered to get some repairs done that day. again my decision, I made another appointment for the following week to complete rest. the staff greeted me when i walked in, they were ready to get some work done.
Would I recommend this place for all repairs, yes i would. if you have concerns or questions go talk to these guys, just to be aware, parking is tight so plan ahead.

I get all my work done here. I havnt had a problem to this date. Justin’s the man. I call a lot… So much that they know my name and number by heart and he is always there to answer my questions to the best of his abilities. If he doesn’t know something he contacts one of his many reliable sources and gets you what you need. He is truly a Stellar manager and a model employee. I believe a raise is in order.

These guys know what they are doing! They do a great job explaining things and are professionals at getting the job done right. You will work with people who care, take your business here!
