Courtyard San Diego Sorrento Valley

I booked this room about 1.5 months in advance. I decided to choose this location for its proximity to UCSD and the Del Mar fair.
Arriving at the location I notice plenty of parking spaces. We arrive at 4pm. An hour after checkin time. Upon arrival I was greeted by a gentlemen name Michael. I told him I was checkin. He asked for my name, ID and a credit card to be placed on file. Great. Things are going well. However, when I asked if I can switch to a 2 bedroom instead of a one King sized bed he said the hotel is all book. I would of paid any difference to the room switch. But I understand that the hotel is book. And I didn’t say much. Then he handed my keys and credit card and ID and left to my room. I went back to my car and drove around.
When I arrived to my room, the room was right at the exit/​entrance door. I was beyond piss. I booked this room nearly 2 months ago!!! And I checked in at 4pm and I get a shitty room??? He didn’t even ask me if I was checking out early or would I like a more quieter room? Or anything along that line? I was pisssed off but I couldn’t be mad at anything else but myself for choose this hotel.
On top of that, I handed him my ID at check in. At that point he should of looked at my name and birthday. And he would of notice my birthday was he next day. June 5 and I checked in June 4. Never once did he even wish me a happy birthday. Wtf? I choose this hotel to spend a birthday weekend and this is what I get? The room pissed me off because I stayed out the night before for my birthday and j checked out early because I could not sleep because of the outside door slamming. Once again the hotel parking lot was not full.
Michael, great customer service is actually carrying a conversation during your whole looking me up in your system. Asking me how my day was going? Welcome to San Diego? Have you been here before? And etc. get to the customer and make their stay unique. When looking at an ID notice their Birthday? Aren’t you suppose to check to makes sure they are over a certain age to book a hotel or to check in???
Lastly, if u couldn’t switch us to a 2 twin bed at least ask if we want something more quieter? We did check in at 4pm? And booked this room about 2 months in advance?
I gave it one star because of the clean room. And one star for the cost and location and parking me but customers service is just as important.

Great stay for three nights. This was close to my meetings so that was a plus. Not a resort by any means but very business travel friendly. FREE parking and WiFi are hard to come by nowadays and truly appreciate this from this location. The room was a good size, has premium channels like HBO. The fitness center was kinda tiny and Café was great to have as there are not a lot of options at walking distance. Overall a great stay.

I personally like the Marriott brand, its budget friendly and great accommodations. The hotel itself is very clean and the staff is friendly. No charge for over night parking and free wifi!
This location is not too far from many tourist destinations. Close to the USS Midway Museum, many micro breweries, theme parks, and restaurants. Petco Park is not too far away, try to plan to watch a Padres baseball game.

Yes! 5 STARS! that’s what this place deserves. Stayed here for one night and it couldn’t be better, I believe! So much comfort in a single room — cleanliness, comfort, view, spacious and all the possible amenities (whatelse could one ask for). The staff was friendly and welcoming.
For people planning to stay in this area, you can definitely consider this place without any second thoughts!

The Front Desk Supervisor at first appealed as rude about not checking me in and so on… Neither the General Manager or Assistant General Manager were in the building to resolve any issues. Very sad! Also it was a big inconvenience for me. Last, There was an insect in the room and the guy said they were all sold out… never again

Great room, service, and pre-​planning for our wedding room block. The restaurant bistro could defintely up their game, but convenience, price and service trump that for me.

I expected the room to be bigger for the amount we paid, so that was pretty disappointing. However, the quality of the bed was very good and everything in the room seemed to be very clean and well maintained. The service we received from the front desk was excellent. Would probably stay here again if I am able to get a better deal on it.

I stayed at this location for about four days for work and found it convenient, clean and very welcoming. The staff was great, especially the folks that worked at the restaurant area. I typically stay at Hilton but this location has me making a move to give Marriott another shot. Love that they have balconies in the room that allow me to let fresh air into the room.

Horrible hotel can’t smoke even in designated smoking areas never coming here again worst hotel in the world staff is complete garbage

A nice and clean Courtyard Marriott with comfy bed, good towels and shower, new lobby with good b-​fast options, free wi-​fi, and a friendly engaged staff. Will definitely stay again the next time we’re in town.

Clean and quiet hotel right near the freeway. Staff were nice during my weekend stay. Huge parking area around the hotel with plenty of spots.

We just checked in tonight. It’s beautiful and clean. Jill, the front desk staff, was happy to be here– even on Christmas Eve.
She checked is in efficiently and got us everything we needed to get settled.
She made our stay amazing!
The other staff there was smiling and friendly too.
Jill made our trip more enjoyable. She obviously loves her job.
The indoor outdoor spa is wonderful.

Extremely clean, quiet hotel in Mira Mesa. Located across the street from a couple of office parks and a Karl Strauss. There’s also a Starbucks, liquor store, and other food places with just a very short walk down the hill.
Really enjoyed my stay here. Only complaints I had was that my room initially smelled a tiny bit like cigarette smoke upon entering, but that went away with a little ventilation-​no big deal there. Also, the pullout bed that comes standard with every room didn’t come with bedding in the closets or anything-​just one extra pillow, so I had to call down to retrieve this.
Aside from that, I’m big on my hotel gyms. This place probably has some of the nicest gym equipment I’ve seen. Must be brand new, because the treadmills were sleek and very nice, as well as the free weights and everything else in there-​like 10X nicer gym amenities than you’d find at an LA Fitness and it rivaled country club equipment. Coupled with ²⁴⁄₇ access and a hot tub next door will have a fitness junkie like myself in heaven. Pool was clean and very nice as well, although didn’t have time for a dip.
Extremely friendly housekeeping crew. Very welcoming. A+ service in that department.
Would definitely stay here again if I find myself in the Sorrento Valley.

The staff couldn’t be any friendlier. Check in was very easy. There is a very convenient café that serves coffees/​food/​alcohol in the lobby. The fitness room has been updated a bit. The entire hotel is clean and the rooms smell fresh. Free wifi and free parking! I’ll be staying here again if I’m back in the area.

The hotel is fine if you’re going to be working in the business center. The close location and the fact that you don’t need to deal with the freeway traffic makes it nice. It’s also close enough to good restaurants and breweries that you don’t feel like your in the middle of nowhere. Karl Strauss it’s right across the street, which is really nice.
The room was nice and what you would expect. They have free Wi-​Fi, but I had lots of issues with it, which was a real let down. I didn’t get to use the pool or spa, but it’s nice to know it’s there.
All in all I would possibly go here again if I was working in the area, but I’ll probably look for another place.

Me and my bf stayed here a week ago and thought the room was super nice and smelled good right as we walked in and the bed was super comfy and loved the pillows. You even have a sliding glass door to walk out of if you wanted. I would definitely stay here again!

By car it is a convenient place to get to tourist attractions with major freeways close to the hotel. It is a few blocks in from the 805 freeway with no freeway or traffic noise. It is in a quiet neighborhood next to corporate buildings. Nothing much within walking distance. But across the street has a Strauss brewing company that serves beer and food and has a beer garden.
The hotel gym is decent, pretty new treadmill and elliptical machines with a tv attached to each machine, and free weights in good condition. Gym AC was running ok and there is a water dispenser and gym towels.
Room towels on the thin and rough side. Bed sheets all wrinkled like someone already slept in the bed. Lastly, found a few stray hairs on towels and sheet.

This visit was a mix of good and bad.
The hotel room we had was scenic. It came with an In-​room fridge, microwave. Walk path and pool in the back of the hotel.
Unfortunately there was black mold on the bathtub. The fridge was dirty and smelled funky.
Not an overall great experience.

If you want a hotel away from downtown San Diego’s night life, not near residential neighborhoods or any grocery or convenient stores, tucked up on a hill near corporate buildings, this Courtyard Marriott is it!
It’s actually not too far from the freeway and there is a Starbucks down the hill. Check in was a breeze, our room was on the first floor, close to the pool, spa and fitness center. There is also a ton of parking blanketing the whole property. Didn’t have time to absorb all of the amenities, like the business center, the restaurant/​bar, or the front lobby. But the hotel appeared well kept and fairly silent during our stay. Rooms are nice, spacious and peaceful.
Recommend? Highly. If you can do without elaborate glitz and have the capacity to appreciate modern/​contemporary sophistication & simplicity in accommodations, then this place should fulfill your hospitality requirements. I’d definitely return.
