A little one man shop with quick service and he takes no appointments. Little break area with no snacks but free water. A good experience, will use him again when I procrastinate on getting the smog certification.

Longer wait on Saturday morning as expected. I just walked over to the nearby calr’s jr for breakfast. Car ready at time as promised. $ 44 with $ 5 coupon from their website. About 4 miles away from UCSD. Friendly and professional. 2008 car passed without any issues.

Great shop! I called last minute (at 5:20) asking if I could come in for smog check. Guy told me that last call is 6:30 since they close at 7pm (what WONDERFUL hours!!!).
Was quoted $ 49 for smog check. Asked if he can discount that and he said no it is what it is.
Read Unilocal and found a $ 5 off coupon on their website! He honored the mobile coupon so I paid $ 44!
Got out in 30 mins or so, just like the guy told me!
No hassle, quick, and accepted me last minute!

After waiting about 40 minutes for the smog check to finish up, the guy tells me that the car failed. He told me that it failed his visual inspection because the engine light was on. Hmmm it seems to me that he should have seen the engine light right away as soon as he sat in the car and the professional thing to do would have been to tell me that the engine light was on and to get that fixed before bringing the car in. But instead they decided to run the car through the entire smog inspection and tell me that it failed and they have to charge me for it because they ran through the full inspection. Why go through the full inspection if you knew there was no chance for it to pass after your initial visual inspection? Doesn’t make sense.

If you’re looking to get your car smogged, I’d say Lo Sieu is definitely the place to go. Having walked in today without an appointment, I expected to wait a while (as with anything car related) but was surprisingly in and out in under an hour. These guys are extremely friendly, professional, and they give you a pretty accurate estimate of how long it’ll take to finish your car. Will definitely be coming here again the next time I have to get my car smogged.

I’m from Orange County, CA but recently had some business travel to MCAS Miramar and had some spare time before beating traffic back to OC. I was just driving down Miramar Rd and saw tons of body shops and auto shops to my left, and a smog only place that stood out and reminded me that my vehicle registration is due soon and a smog was required. I had no appointment. Luckily, this place was a walk-​in only. I didn’t have the DMV paperwork with me but the technician was extremely polite and courteous. He asked me for my old registration and DL, and was able to take my car in right away. He let you knkw how much it will cost up front so that there is no surprise after. The facility was well kept and I am very pleased with the level of customer service I’ve received from Lo Sieu. I would do the drive down to San Diego next time around. Highly highly recommended.

This was the most unprofessional place I have ever dealt with. I found them to be most unethical, unprofessional and on the brink of dishonest company I’ve ever had the displeasure of dealing with. While onsite I filed a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Retailers and was told by them that this company was in clear violation. I mentioned this to the person servicing my vehicle but he stuck to his guns. While I am waiting for the results of the Bureau I will also be pursuing possible legal action against this company. There are plenty of cheaper, friendlier, more professional and more ethical smog centers within a 1-​mile radius and I would strongly suggest everyone find one of them instead of this miserable company.

Needed my car smogged at a STAR Certified station. It was getting late and all the other STAR locations nearby were closing, but they were open until 6pm and got me in and out pretty quickly after waiting one car before me. The tech even found a loose coolant hose that was leaking fluid and helped tighten it for me despite the hose and leaking fluid being hot. Overall, great service, I’d recommend them. The only downside is they have a $ 5 coupon that isn’t valid for cars older than ’95, so I paid $ 49 for my ’94 bmw. But if you’ve got one above that year, then be sure to use that coupon.

This guy is very good, careful and quick. Just be sure to call and ask how busy he is. One minus is the parking there sucks and I was paranoid someone was going to open their door up into my car and mess it up because they really pack them in there. So I waited right by it until he was ready.

Very friendly and quick… I got the smog done on a 2008 GMC Savanna 3500 its like a penske truck, lots of places have trouble smoging this truck as it is tall… Here they had no problem! I’m happy with the service I got.

Usually I think it’s pointless when people write reviews for places they did not even get service from. Well, I didn’t get service from Lo Sieu Smog Test Only.
Actually, I wanted to smog my truck here, but I was refused because my tires are slightly different from stock sizing. Nothing to do with their equipment or capabilities, but they are scared they will get in trouble with the Air Resource Board of California.
Well, there is nothing illegal about my tires, and no reason that they will get in trouble for smogging my vehicle. I know businesses can refuse service, but with something like smog (which people are required to do), it makes things difficult when shops like this refuse to smog your vehicle for no good reason.

Fast, reasonable, & Star certified! Paid $ 49 for a 2003 BMW– way better than $ 69 quoted for me by the Smog Station. The wait is not long if you avoid the lunch rush between 11a-​2p. The reviewers are right about this business – I would recommend this place to people. We were skeptical at first since the place was tiny, in a busy automotive repair lot with very few parking spots, but pleasantly surprise how professional & efficient Kevin is.
I got here at 3pm and only took 45 min. There’s a small waiting room, but if you need a bite, there’s are really good BBQ, Lebanese, Mexican & Phở places a few steps away. Support this local business! Kevin’s a 1-​man show, he’s got it down to a science. Next time, I plan on bringing this man some Gatorade because he’s busier than a one-​legged man in an ass-​kickin’ contest!

Been going here for years! Just bought a 2000 Benz E430 that has been setting for years. Got it running and replaced the battery.
Come to find out the the CPU reset itself when disconnecting the battery. Kevin advised me to drive the car 100 miles to get it ready for testing. Knowing he was closing soon.
I took off for a long cruz, came back after he was already closed… Kevin went out of his way to take care of my smog test. He’s a real down to earth dude!!! Thanks Man!
