Mario Medel has been in the car detailing industry for over 20 years. As a prior manager, Mario decided to buy the business he worked for to continue to provide superior service to the San Diego area. Along with his brother, Mario now offers full repair and detailing services. These guys moved their Unilocal storefront here but it’s still the same great service. I’ll reiterate what I said before about Tech Formula.
I had a Teflon clear coat applied on my 2003 GMC eleven years ago and it still looks great. It’s always been parked outside and when it rains, the water still beads off of my truck like it just got waxed. I just bought a new car and I’m taking to the Tech Formula Salon for a Teflon coat later this month. I live six hours north of SD and I’m driving down just to get the job done. That’s how much I believe in these guys. If you plan on owning your vehicle for several years or if you like to «baby» your ride, then do yourself a favor and get the Teflon sealant for your four-​wheeled friend. In the long run, it is well worth it. I recommend these guys with my highest endorsement!

Mario did a great job on a 2006 Toyota Sienna that I just purchased. The car had low miles, but it needed some attention on the cloth seats and carpet. After reviewing the work Mario and his team did on the interior, my expectations were exceeded. The cloth on the back of the seats even had patterned lines from the steam cleaner nozzle — very professional. I also paid Mario to ‘clay’ the outside of the van, which left the exterior paint very smooth. I went home and waxed the exterior myself with Z Best car wax (the purple stuff — you can get it at the San Diego Fair). (It’s great car wax by the way.) So, in summary, Mario runs a top notch auto detail center.

My friend recommended this place to me, so I took my evo 9 for the first time there yesterday and I was impressed. Mario did an amazing job and finished the job in an hour. The car was detailed inside and out. If you are looking for a new place to get your car detailed, give this man a chance. Call ahead to see when they are next available and set up an appointment.

Had tech formula and tinting on my red car 12 yrs back, and both still looks fantastic despite being parked outside on hot SD sun most of the time.
So happy to find the shop again (after it moved), and it is the obvious choice for my new car! Excellent custom service, and great prices too!

WOW! Got my black optima Teflon coated and not only did Mario get rid of most of the swirl marks, but he got the black paint finish so wet and smooth it shines like a mirror now. Great service and he even picked me up from work. It’s really hard to find companies now a days with quality work and customer service that Tech provides.

Mario is the man! I’ve been bringing both my car & truck to him for a couple months now, he always does a great job, very detailed in his work and he’s a real nice guy. Excellent work at a fair price. I’m very picky about my cars and won’t let just any auto wash touch them. I work close by his shop and he’ll even give me a ride to work and pick me up when my car is done, how great is that?! Bring your car to him and you’ll never go to the car wash again!

I got a Teflon coating done on both the exterior and interior of my new Camry and it looks fantastic.
Mario answered all my questions and concerns in a very sincere manner and he seemed to be extremely passionate about his work. He gave me lots of tips on how to take care of the care in great detail and I am definitely gonna put them to use.
His Teflon work is reasonably priced and comes with a warranty. I would definitely recommend them if you are contemplating cosmetic work on your car.

We took our Nissan Pathfinder to Mario for a complete detail. The car is 8 years old and I don’t think it has once received a wax or detail! The interior was an absolute mess – we have two young girls that over the years created quite a job on the interior. Mario assured me it would look as good as new – and let me just say he was right! The car looked AMAZING! Every inch of the car was detailed to look like new. The prices were reasonable too. I highly recommend taking your vehicle to Tech Formula, you’ll be glad you did!

As you pull into the complex, make an immediate right and around the corner. BEWARE!!- there is ANOTHER detail shop in suite 125 — that is not tech formula.
I’ve been going to Tech Formula when it was owned by Bob and Anita with Mario as the Manager back in the mid 1990’s. Even after Bob left, the reigns now in Mario’s hands, Mario has maintained the same caliber of workmanship, attention to detail, quality, and reasonable prices for automotive detail and car care services.
My dad just had his recently purchased 2012 VW EOS hard top convertible teflon coated, clear bra installed, and window tinted. The car came out amazing!
AGAIN… Mario remains consistent with the outstanding work with which we continue to return for.
16 years and 8 cars later, we are still happy customers of of this business.
I def. would recommend Tech Formula to anyone!

So I went to this place based on Al V.‘s recommendation here. I first went to their OLD location located in the address seen above. I arrived on time to their old address and everything was closed up. I waited another 5 minutes before I called them up and they told me that they moved from that location and they are having a hard time getting the yellow pages and internet updated. Their correct address is

Anyway, this place is very clean and everyone is very nice and honest. Granted I spent more than I would have liked to, but that is not their fault. It turned out my car had a tint on it already (possibly UV only) and I needed that taken off before they could put the tint back on. It did extend the time longer, but in the end it is well worth the wait. Their waiting room is top notch and has a big screen tv and a nice leather couch.
