The Dog Resort

We take our dogs here for both boarding and day care. When they come home they are always tired and happy. The day we left for a trip, one of our dogs had a vet emergency and ended up with a bandage that needed special care. They were very accommodating and helpful. They always remember our dogs and are attentive to their quirks and needs. I’d recommend The Dog Resort to anyone that asks!

Friendly people, good customer service, competitive pricing. My dog loves going there so that speaks for itself.

We’ve been taking our Scottie dog, Hazel Bean to the Dog Resort for 7 months now including two longer stays when we were out of town on vacation. Similar to the other posts here, we had some trepidation leaving our puppy in a strange place for the first time. It turns out we had nothing to worry about. She was under great care with Pat and his staff and we could both tell she thoroughly enjoyed herself. It did take her a couple of days to recover from so much fun/​activity which is a «good» tired from playing so hard. The other benefit is the socialization. She’s so well behaved around other dogs and gets along with any dog she meets. We had another Scottie (adopted) before her who really didn’t get along well with others, so it’s really nice having a well socialized pet family-​member now. The cost for boarding and day care is reasonable for the care she’s been receiving. Oh, bonus, they do a nice job bathing too. Highly recommended!

Mona and The Dog Resort have been a true blessing for us and we couldn’t be more pleased with the care and service we were provided.
We’d been fostering a newly blind female Boston Terrier but were going on vacation and needed someone we could trust to care for our very special needs pup. In addition to having a rough adjustment to being blind, she was also experiencing a number of behavior problems (not sleeping through the night and peeing inside even though she’d been fully housebroken) so we knew it was going to be tough to find the right place to care for her while we were gone. Fortunately, we found Mona and knew from immediately through our initial conversation that she was absolutely committed to animals and providing them safe and loving care. We told her all the challenges that would come with caring for our pup but rather than be intimidated by them, she was excited about getting the opportunity to help work on them and to care for our special girl. Given the special circumstances involved, Mona even came all the way out to our house herself to meet our pup on her own terms and make the transition that much smoother. Her commitment to the happiness and welfare of animals in her care is unmatched.
After two weeks in Mona’s care, not only was she extremely well taken care of, but she had stopped all her bad behaviors and was now a confident, healthy, happy girl again. If that was the end of the story, it would be enough and a wonderful experience. It wasn’t though as upon our return and knowing that we were only able to foster her, Mona offered to keep her and take on the responsibility of finding the absolute best forever home for her. We’re just overwhelmed at Mona’s love for our pup and ability to bring out the best in her.
Throughout our whole experience, it was very clear to us that Mona is deeply committed to animals and their welfare. She’s got a huge heart and her care of our pup and commitment to providing her absolutely everything she needs is apparent in everything she does. Mona’s been a real source of comfort for us, knowing that our little pup was and is in the best of hands and will eventually find the perfect family thanks to Mona.
I am happy to recommend Mona and The Dog Resort to anyone looking for special care for their pup while on vacation.

I would’ve given this a 5 star if it wasn’t for the cost. I paid $ 430 for 5 days for two dogs, and that was a discounted package. But other than the cost, I would recommend the Dog Resort. The place was nice and my dogs seemed to enjoy themselves. They were exhausted when I picked them up and the team did a good job with their bathes.

I wasn’t allowed to look around the yard or the sleeping quarters. I will change the ratings once they will allow me to see it. Not sure how others who commented here knew how spotless the place was if nobody was allowed inside! Big no for me.

I can’t stress enough how great of a facility this is! The staff is extremely friendly, the place is always spotless, and they offer nice services while you keep your dog there (baths, nail clippings, etc.). Also the price is excellent! And they constantly have sales! Even better is that the days don’t expire that you buy in advance!

While we would love to have someone stay here, this is the next best place for our dog for boarding. Patrick and his crew are very nice. I haven’t had an issue with Spike when he comes home other than he is tired. It is on the way to the airport and so it is the best place for us to bring our dog.

Our dog gets very excited in the car when we start heading in the direction of the dog resort to visit her friends.
There is plenty of evidence that she has been playing hard when we pick her up.
When we 1^st toured this place we were less then impressed with the décor and smallish areas for the dogs to play. Then we thought the dog could care less about how fancy the place is, she only cares that the people treat her kindly and that she gets to play with her dog buddies.
We gave it a shot and so far it’s been perfect for our pup.
At pickup a couple of times I took some pictures, through the fence, of her playing before she busted me.
Pat & staff are great and seem to care about the creatures under their care as if they were their own.

*UPDATE* After reading the owner’s response, I will post a follow up. I did in fact see past the reception desk and what I’ve described of the dog areas are accurate. My dog was there for daycare only and spent a total of 4 hours in a cage, according to who I spoke with, for nap and when they were understaffed at the end of the day. This isn’t listed anywhere on the «free range» website. The practice itself isn’t reprehensible (though I can cage at home), it’s just that if that is the practice of the Dog Resort, it’s better to let the customer know. I would have gone elsewhere.
You should know that this daycare *does* cage your dogs during the middle of the day, for 2 hours for feeding and «nap,» despite what they say. Also, if your dog is there later in the day, and they don’t have the staff to supervise, they will be caged until you pick them up. I picked up my dog shaking, in a kennel, in a room full of barking and howling dogs. (sentence removed)
I felt like what was shared to me during drop-​off wasn’t what their actual practice was. It also took a good amount of insistence and asking separate times to see the actual space the dogs are kept.
Upon pickup, they weren’t really able to give specifics about how pooch’s day went. It was more just that pooch «had a good time.» Had a friend who went in the next day, and had the same experience.
I suppose for Seattle, their space is probably large, and spacious. Realistically, their outdoor space is probably an average sized backyard (but shared between many dogs), their indoor space contains lots of crates, so it’s more limited to the walkways, unless you’re in the small dog room. They have some very sanitary practices, but would I take my dog back? No. I’d rather make the trek up to Woodinville where there’s more open space, grass and more caring eyes on my dog during the day, heaven forbid anything should happen. Also where the option is there for them to play all day if they want to. If I wanted my dog in a crate, I’d do that at home.
If you’re limited to the confines of Seattle proper, it’s probably an okay place. But honestly, you can (a lot) do better by your dog.

Don’t put your dog at risk!
My dog was bitten by another dog at daycare. Hey, dogs will be dogs, I get it.
They called me, but I missed the call. They didn’t leave a message or attempt to call me again.
I came to pick up my boy at the end of the day and the guy at the desk casually told me my dog had «pissed off the wrong dog».
FOR MORE THAN 3 HOURS MY DOG SAT BLEEDING AND CRYING IN HIS OWN URINE!
WHY WASN’T HE TAKEN TO A VET?!
He had puncture wounds on one leg. It was swollen to twice it’s size, and was obviously extremely painful.
His other leg had a large, several inch wide chunk of flesh missing. It was so deep his muscle tissue was exposed.
Again, dogs bite dogs and that is not my complaint.
My dog clearly needed medical attention but wasn’t taken to the vet. I suspect that he wasn’t taken to the vet because there was only one employee on shift. One twenty-​something staff member for dozens of dogs. That’s extremely unsafe for the staff members and the dogs. I couldn’t prove it in a court of law. But when I asked if he was the only person on staff the expression of shame and fear made it clear.
This was a Monday, Presidents day around 5:00 pm.
I immediately brought my dog to a nearby emergency animal hospital. $ 600 later my dog had dozens of stitches and staples in one leg and a drainage stent in the other leg. He was miserable, in pain and not allowed to run around and be a dog for more than a month. The vet hands down agreed that he was in pain and that I was right to bring him in ASAP.
Mona, the owner, called me the night of the incident. Without prompting, she apologized profusely, stated she agreed that my dog should have been taken to the vet sooner, and offered to pay for his vet bill. It was clearly stated in the contract I signed that that vet bills are the owner of the policy but her offer to pay seemed appropriate since she herself recognized and admitted negligence.
A few days later I brought a copy of the vet bill to the facility. Mona wasn’t in, so I left it there for her. Later that night Mona sent me an email. Her email complained that the vet bill was too expensive. She said it would have been much cheaper to take him to the vet she uses. She also complained that I had overreacted by taking him to an emergency vet. Again, it was after 5 on a holiday. If I didn’t go to the emergency vet I would have had to wait until the next morning. Mona wishes I would have let my dog suffer for 20 MORE HOURS! so she could save a few bucks.
Now her story changed quickly. She would not pay the vet bill but instead gave me $ 1000 credit for day care and boarding services.
She was arrogant enough to think I would leave my dog with her or any of incompetent staff. No way. Never, ever. It’s not a safe place for dogs or the poor undertrained staff.
Since she refused to fulfil her promise and obligation to pay for the vet bill caused by her negligence. I had no choice but to take the $ 1000 credit or nothing at all.
I told her I’d like to use the credit for grooming services in the future and she didn’t hesitate to agree.
I figured eventually I could have my dog groomed there under my supervision. Obviously I was really upset and didn’t return to use my credit until 2 years later.
Lo and behold, there was no record of my $ 1000 credit. I wasn’t surprised and waited patiently for 20 minutes for Mona to return her desperate employee calls.
When she finally got on the phone with me she feigned ignorance. Maybe she vaguely remembers the incident but she needs to check her records and bla bla BS. She asked me to leave my email with the girl at the desk and promised to get black to me right away.
Guess what happened next? Nothing. Obviously, she never responded because she is not trustworthy. Her «love» for dogs is a cheap act to make a quick buck.
The only reason the dog resort has any good reviews is because they offers discounts to customers who leave good reviews. A violation of Unilocal and other review sites rules.

They said all the right things on their website. But once we got to the facility to drop off our older mid-​size female mutt I began having doubts. The front door was locked, the lobby was shut off, we rang a bell and waited for several minutes — nervous about missing our flight. Finally a gentlemen who appeared to have been roused from a nap came out from the side gate, squeezing past a couple of large rowdy Am-​Stafs. He apologized for the state of the lobby, saying they were replacing floors so we would not be able to tour the facility and see for ourselves where our lady would be spending the next three weeks. Then another man came out and pulled her away from us unceremoniously, picking her up so he could move her quickly despite her being uncomfortable and too large to carry.
When we picked her up, she had lost five pounds and was both skittish and lethargic. We were still not allowed to tour the facility. After several days of her not eating and having obvious GI distress at home, we took her to the vet. $ 400 later and we find she has an «alarmingly high level» of giardia in her stool. In our care and feeding instructions we were careful to specifically let the business know that our dog had a propensity to eat mud and to forage garbage food when under stress.
It’s hard to feel confident that she was well looked after.

What a great experience all around. We were anxious about dropping off our 7 month puppy for her first out of home stay and Pat made everything right. From the first call when he answered all my questions to advising on buying Mushers to protect our dog’s paws to having her clean when we picked her up… it was all great. Thanks Dog Resort!

The dog resort has made a lot of changes over the time I’ve been taking my dog there. He really enjoys the staff, I do as well, and is always happy when we drop him off and pick him up.

I have used The Dog Resort for the last year or so. Great place for both of my dachshunds to spend the day in daycare or over a weekend when the wife and I are out of town. We interacted most with Pat and he was great. He was always attentive to Zeus and Apollo. It was a sad day for him when we moved away. Any time we come back to Seattle, we will use The Dog Resort while we are in town.
It is located a little off the I-​5 corridor but if you get there early in the morning, it is not bad getting to downtown. Prices are very competitive for the service you get.

I adopted a dog that has separation anxiety. He has been going to the dog resort for over a year now and he loves it. I can even board him here and know that he gets the attention he needs. He loves coming here and cannot wait to go to the back once we enter the front door. The staff have been great and listened to my concerns when I was first bringing him in. I bring him 3 days a week. I buy large packages when they go on sale so the daycare is cheaper than a dog walker. I highly recommend them for both day care and boarding.

It is so nice to have people like Pat, Mona, and the rest of the team to leave our dog with when we travel.
If you’re like me you hate leaving your dog when you are out of town. I prefer to have him stay with professionals vs having a friend/​family member watch him. I don’t want him to be a bother on my loved ones and I know he loves to hang with all his other pup homies at the Dog Resort! The ability to drop him at a place like this and not worry about it is priceless!
*Protip– Save money and get in on the package sales that Mona sends out.

I’ve been taking my dog here for day care over the past several months and I love this place.
My dog is a VERY active terrier and tends to play much harder than other dogs his size. I’ve taken him to two other dog resorts and it didn’t work out with him in large mixed groups.
This place recognizes that dogs come in different sizes and activity levels and placed my dog with the larger, more active ones and he loves it. There’s very little incidents and the staff is extremely friendly, professional, and caring. You and your pooch will love this place.

I wish my doggy could write this review. My doggie only likes this place so far in a state of Washington. I tried other fancy dog day cares but he got mad because he thinks I left him there, but dog resort is the only place he feels comfortable and received lots of attention and love.
My doggie loves everyone there. He goes to the day care more than 5 days a week when I work. He looks always happy there and for the last 1 – 1.5 years he has never been injured at dog resort.
I really appreciate the manager because I remember him saying at the first time my dog boarded, he got anxious and cried. The manager took my doggie to a small room and spent a time with my doggie for a while, then my dog got calm down and fell asleep right away. Since that time my dog felt home when he is at dog resort. I do really appreciate their great service!

tl;dr — I went away for 5 days. I dropped my dog, Randy, off on Tuesday night and returned on Sunday. When I returned on Sunday, I sped to the Animal Hospital to pick up Randy, where he was recovering from full-​anesthesia, intubation, and stitches to a wound on his shoulder that had been left untreated for 5 days after being attacked at The Dog Resort.

One of the services that The Dog Resort offers, which I was notified on drop off Tuesday evening, was the option of sending photos of your dog throughout their stay. On Wednesday, we called and asked for a picture. We spoke to a woman who said she would send one on Thursday.
On Thursday, we heard nothing. No picture, no call.
On Friday, I called and spoke to the same woman from Wednesday.
She mentioned that she had been meaning to send one, and also casually mentioned that Randy had «been in a little tiff» and was currently in timeout. She did not go into any further details, even though I asked, but assured me that he would be going back outside shortly, at which point she would send us a photo.
3 hours later, she sent 2 photos. In the 1^st photo, it looks like 2 dogs are swarming in on Randy, ready to attack. In the 2^nd photo, Randy is looking as depressed as I have ever seen him, and clearly has a wound on his left shoulder. There were no mentions of injuries or additional altercations along with these photos.
I called Saturday morning to get the full story and spoke to a woman who had been out of the office for 3 days. She was not aware of any altercations. She said she would call the staff members who had been there and give me a call back.
Never received a call back.
I called back later and asked for an update. She had been unable to get in touch with the staff member she was looking for, but would continue to try and give me a call back.
Never received a call back.
I called back on Sunday — reaching the same girl from Saturday. She remained unsure about the specifics, but sounded nervous and apologized for not calling the previous day.
A bit later, the manager called me and explained the situation and was apologetic — it was at this point I realized something bad was going on. He started to explain they would be taking Randy to the vet to evaluate his injuries.
It is still unclear when the injuries occurred, as there was zero contact from them until we called several times. The photo they sent Friday clearly shows a wound. The chart at the vet states that the injury happened 5 days prior (to Sunday) which means the wound went without professional treatment since WEDNESDAY.
Hours later, they’re back from the vet. I’m told Randy received stitches to his wound. This required full sedation via anesthesia & intubation.
Finally, I spoke to the owner of The Dog Resort. I was eager to get Randy back home after the ordeal he had been through. The owner chose to focus more on damage control rather than problem solving. She continued to make excuse after excuse why I could not come pick Randy up when I returned home.
Finally, a solution is reached to have Randy brought back to the Hospital, where I was able to finally pick him up around 1AM Monday Morning.
The remaining follow-​up and interaction with The Dog Resort has been almost as painful as Randy’s initial stay.
They initially refused to refund my 10-​day package that I had purchased, stating, that paying the vet bill and asking someone to stay up late was enough redemption.
Even more ridiculous, they added an additional 10-​day package to my account, delusioned into thinking that I would ever return as a customer.
What makes this even more insane, is the following:
«Packages are transferable, so you are free to gift or sell the package days if you wish… We have allot of customers who are looking for an opportunity to save money. If you are willing to offer a discount on your packages, let us know… If your packages are purchased, we will take payment from the purchaser and send you a check in the amount of the purchase.»
So not only did they (a) refuse to refund my money after this horrible experience, they (b) gave me an additional package and then © asked me to sell my days to others and sell those days at a discount (like I am StubHub for their business).
This shows a clear lack of awareness, responsibility, and general tact.
24 hours later, they finally processed a refund for my 10-​day package.
In summary, if you are looking for a safe environment to leave your dog run by level-​headed and responsible adults, look elsewhere.
