James Standfield Catering

My husband and I hired James Standfield Catering for our wedding, and it just could not have gone better. Alicia Kite is 100% amazing, and consistently put our anxieties to rest over the course of our (stressful!!!) wedding planning process.
The thing that made this so special is that like 2 – 3 weeks before the event, I tweaked the entire menu. Alicia had said that her chefs were flexible and that they would provide *anything I wanted.* So I literally went through our entire menu, changed all of the passed apps, tweaked nearly everything else, and provided some recipes where that seemed relevant. Alicia took this all with THE UTMOST GRACE. In fact, she encouraged feedback and was completely adamant that we should ask for exactly what we wanted. To boot, we had several dietery sensitivities/​restrictions to cater to, and so the menu was sort of tricky in that way. Alicia and James Standfield Catering totally delivered.
I cannot tell you how many compliments we got on the food. Utter foodies were like «this was NOT your basic wedding food,» vegans were totally happy, gluten free folks had tons of options, and even my super fancy rich fam from NY were stoked with the food. And the service was impeccable– we were completely taken care of all night. I could not recommend Alicia and James Standfield more.

So here is the thing, they are apparently considered the lower end cost caterer. Alicia is a doll and knows how to sell James Standfield as the best catering in town. Here is a reality check, they did the catering for my wedding. We paid close to 10K for their service only i. e we ordered the food elsewhere. My parents had to be on top of them the whole night at my wedding to heat up the food since they served it cold! To actually put all the food for the reception dinner in the buffet table, i. e do not forget to put the ceremonial dish of the bride and groom on the buffet table. My mom even had to remind them to refill the coffee samovar since they were often empty between crowds of guests. With all that said, because I had a wedding planner and amazing parents to ensure things went well the wedding went off without a hitch, well at least none that my husband and I noticed. However, I would say tread lightly with this catering company they talk a big talk but their service is not as they sell it out to be. It works if you are on a budget but they do need to improve their services.

We got the artichoke dip for a Social Media event and the presentation of the dip was so pretty. The croûton toast that came with it was to die for, next time we have to order double of the toast that goes with the dip because there was so much dip which we were happy about but we needed more toast. You can tell that it was well made, the flavor was perfectly balanced and I can taste a little goat cheese in the dip too. This was the only item there was from this catering company and it was well done, I hope I can try the rest of their food one day, I bet it would be delicious just like the artichoke dip. We are hoping to work with them on future events. Great service and very professional and prompt. Any company or wedding would be lucky to use this company to cater their next event.

I am writing this review solely for the amazing Artichoke Dip that I ordered for my social media party yesterday afternoon. The Artichoke Dip was presented beautifully in a metal food warmer and came with toasted bread and other toppings like parmesan cheese. The toasted bread had the texture and crunch of your average chip, but tasted absolutely scrumptious with the dip. The portion was huge as well and definitely accommodated the 90+ guests at my event. I have used James Standfield Catering for 2 large events in the past couple of years (a reunion with 120 people and a separate party for 80 people) and have been delighted with their customer service, quality and taste of their food and overall ease to work with them. Alicia Kite and the JSC team are very customer service oriented, responsive and professional. I have recommended them to others and I’ll be using them again to cater at least one more event I have in the coming months with about 70 people.

We’ve been using JSC not only for our recruitment breakfasts, but increasingly for more events like intern orientation, in-​service exams, intern welcome dinner, etc. The food is consistent, staff friendly, and professional overall. Even when problems arise (very rare) Alicia responds quickly and «makes things right». Special mention to Rob. When I see him in the morning, I know that things will be taken care of.

I’m updating per my previous review of 3 stars… I decided to give James Stanfield catering another shot and I booked our holiday lunch with them. I realize that I went out on a limb here since we were hosting lunch for 125 employees but I decided to go ahead and book anyway.
I had so many people rave about how good the food was, a few even came by asking for their name and telling me that they were the best catering company we have ever used! The delivery, pick up and ordering was so easy and more importantly the food tasted great. Presentation was great.
I will certainly use James Standfield for our future events!

We used James Standfield for a two day company event and everything went well except for the lunch. We ordered boxed lunches and it was awful! Everything tasted old. Not one person was happy with it. It was disappointed as they hosted a cocktail event the night before and the food was great. We ordered breakfast and everything was fine as well. Perhaps they are amazing with food and not their boxed lunches.

Excellent service… I recently hosted a orange party for my job. Alicia and staff came up with a creative appetizer menu for my party; meatballs in orange sauce very tasty, shrimp coconut with orange dipping sauce, bruschetta with orange bell pepper to die for, we also served mimosas with fruit. Everyone was amazed with all the detail my party had. They were even able to help me with beautiful table cloths last minute. The staff that was sent was very helpful I was running out of time setting up my party and they even helped me cut flowers for the table center pieces which they are also the ones who recommended they can bring me small vases great idea. They went over and beyond I truly appreciate them and will use them for all my work events.

We used James Standfield Catering this past May to cater our wedding reception at the San Francisco Film Centre. We loved every minute working with Alicia and her team. She made us feel comfortable from the first time we talked and kept us stress-​free every step of the way. The reception was a huge hit, everyone loved the food and the room was beautiful… everything we imagined our wedding day to be! We could not have had such a stellar party without Alicia and the James Standfield catering crew. Highly, highly recommended!

You don’t have to read many reviews to see that the food is delicious and Alicia Kite is a wonderful accomplished friendly professional. We had James Standfield cater our wedding ceremony venue as well as the reception for sixty-​five or so guests. The staff had everything under control, maintained the most pleasant attitude (despite working in unfortunately hot temperatures), and made sure everyone was happy.
Alicia made the right recommendations on the food, pulled together great suggestions on the set up of the venues, proposed timelines and then served as the on-​site coordinator to make sure other vendors hit their schedules and we stuck to the timetable. All her attention ensured we could focus on ourselves and our guests.
You should get on their calendar well in advance. Listen to what Alicia and her colleagues have to say. Then go enjoy your day because everything else will happen just the way it should.
A special compliment to Marcel who served as bartender. He made everyone happy even when some things were in more demand than we had anticipated.

Alicia Kite was the reason we came to James Standfield. The food was good, but Alicia made the process of tasting, ordering, and executing the event seamless. Alicia’s professionalism and her ability to provide us with peace of mind, especially leading up to the wedding and on our wedding day, was a difference maker.

The two 3 main things I look for in a caterer are (1) customer service, (2) a variety of menu selections and (3) on-​time deliveries.
James Standfield Catering hit the nail on the head with all three! I submitted my order online for breakfast and lunch for a business meeting. Alicia was extremely helpful and the turn around time for my order confirmation was within a day. I made some minor adjustments to the menu of choice and they were able to accommodate without any issues. Delivery was timely and the presentation of the food was gorgeous. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Their prices are very reasonable and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for excellent service and delicious food.

I used James Standfield Catering for a two day business offsite in the financial district of San Francisco. I was very impressed with the quality of the food at such an affordable price tag. They delivered on time and were very professional from start to finish.
I highly recommend them for business catering, especially if you are tired of plain old sandwiches.

We use James Standfield at UCSF for our lunch meetings and events and we are all extremely happy with the service we received. 5 stars all around from the e-​mail/​phone communication to the person who comes to set up the meal. Prices are all clearly stated and there are never any surprises.

Thank you Alicia!!! We just had our wedding last week catered by James Stanfield. Being that both my husband and my schedules are pretty busy, we actually only ended up going to two tastings. We really liked our first tasting with a different company and were about to book, but then we decided to just go to James Standfield’s tasting as well as comparison. It was even more delicious than our first tasting and we instantly loved Alicia and knew she would do a great job! Also, while we didn’t do a lot of tastings, we had emailed many local catering companies and James Standfield seemed by far to be the best deal financially as well.
Alicia was so helpful and so responsive by e-​mail. She was sure to remind us about little details such as name cards, layout of the venue, etc and she was extremely helpful in helping us through all of these decisions. She even gave me her cell phone number before the wedding so that I could let her know of any last minute questions or changes even after hours when she had left work (I’m glad I didn’t have to use it though :))
My husband and I are big salad people and we absolutely loved the wedding salad. I was so excited that our «non-​veggie» option could be a duet of both filet mignon AND salmon, as those are my absolute favorites. But then we tried the butternut squash ravioli, and I ended up ordering that for myself (and sharing the duet with my husband) as it was also amazingly delicious! They were also able to accommodate all our little requests such as having strawberries on our glasses for our champagne toast.

Best vendor decision! After my husband and I interviewed over 10 bay area full service caterers for our wedding, we knew instantly after meeting Alicia, we want to go with James Standfield.
It all started with the tasting. We had no idea my brother was going to be in town, so when he flew in that morning of our tasting, of course, we wanted to bring him with us. That was the first sign I knew Alicia was quick to accommodate any surprises. As soon as we walked in, I apologized for the last minute guest and hoped to just share our 2 meal portion among 3 people. Alicia, went the extra mile and added an entire extra portion and place setting for my brother.
Me being an email type of girl, communicating with Alicia was heaven. She is thorough, patient and always remembered what I asked. Even when I personally felt like I was being annoying, she never confirmed those feelings.
Most reasonable price for a full service caterer in the Bay Area, plus conveniently located and available on Saturdays for tastings.
During the event, everything came out perfect! Again, Alicia was right there to greet us as we arrived to the venue. She helped coordinate my crazy wedding party for the ceremony and managed to accommodate 2 extra seating assignments I forgot to include on our floor plan (oops).
As for the food, our appetizers were a hit! Luckily, Alicia made us a plate so we could actually taste what everyone was raving about. The winner, mini Tomato soup and grill cheese. A close second, was the Bruchetta. As for the entrée, we couldn’t really eat at that point of the wedding. I hear thats a thing b/​c of all the craziness. But we did get a large doggie bag of left over entrees which wasn’t bad for a middle night meal.
Unfortunately, I wish I could’ve personally said bye to Alicia before she left but I imagine we must have been incredibly distracted and surrounded by people.
All in all, Alicia is AMAZING! I would highly recommend this caterer to any of my newly engaged friends.

This caterer was just amazing to work with. Alicia was so patient, responsive, and on top of everything. We had two tastings, she did a walk through with us, I asked her multiple questions and she always answered helpfully. We had a bit of a tough location — at a county park with no kitchen facility. They did a great job accommodating us and at a very reasonable price. In fact, Alicia even helped me brainstorm ways to save money. They allowed us to bring our own alcohol, drinks, and desserts and didn’t charge anything for it. We bought tablecloths and dropped them off ahead of time — no problem. Additionally, the staff at the event were all very helpful. The person in charge the day of — I think his name was Raul — was exceptionally polite, helpful, and on top of things.
The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because overall the food was good, not amazing. If I had to do it all over again, I would hire them in a heartbeat. Nothing beats the service they provided.

Another vendor I used for my wedding that I had to take the time to write a review for :) First and foremost, I LOVED working with Alicia — she was so helpful and accommodating, and almost always responded to my emails within a few hours. We actually had two tastings with her, and she was really patient with us, and answered our many questions. She did a walk through with us, and stayed with us for a few hours just to make sure we would have everything right.
The food was amazing, and we had a good number of guests coming up to us to compliment on the great food. Another engaged couple even came up to ask for their information! Alicia and their staff just provided great service, and exceptional food, and I would highly recommend them to everyone. My husband and I did a lot of research for catering, and they were definitely one of the most budget friendly too.
Hire them!

Great Wedding Caterer!
I chose James Standfield for our wedding caterer this past August. Alicia Kite was so nice and easy to work with — never made me feel bad when I changed anything. Everything went exactly as planned and the guests actually brought up how good the food was! Another thing I loved about this place was that they let us hire their beverage server but provide our OWN alcohol. That was a huge money-​saver. If you are looking for a low-​stress experience, use Alicia and know she will take care of everything! :) Thank you JS catering!!!

I order food from James Standfield Catering when I am hosting a special event or meeting at work. They’re super efficient, on time and organized. The price is definitely reasonable and I love how they have the table cloths with the food all set up and prepared for your guests.
