Quality sushi at reasonable price. we’ve here 3 times. Each time the sushi we ordered was prepared right, crisp, just right amt of spiciness, not salty and all in all tasty. Good portion, reasonably price, clean, and not crowded. I recommend.

Been coming here for 10 years. One of kind. Great service at sushi bar. Nobu knows what he’s doing and that goes a long away. Great neighboorhood restaurant. They treat me like royalty. Love it.

Three stars for their sushi. Cheap and really good. The portions are not that bad. But def getting to-go next time. No stars for their customer service. Rude ass server when we asked if we can«split the check» she acted like it was hella complicated and we were her last customers, as if there was a line of people waiting to be served. Big fucking deal. We said«thank you» multiple times, and even offered to help her out since she made it look like it was so HARD to accommodate. So immature to roll your eyes at a customer, what are you 7? Didn’t get her name but remember exactly how she looked like. Short old Asian lady with black and grey hair. We were there around 9pm. — If you hate what you do, don’t fucking work there. Really dislike people who gotta bring out their immaturity to work. Take that shit home. Because that act isn’t someone who«works hard»

I have no idea what’s happened in the last few months, but the tempura has improved dramatically – crispy, light, not greasy! My last review was 3 stars, but the recent improvement definitely merits an additional star due to the quality of food coupled with good value.

What a whole lot of yummy food at reasonable prices. The daily specials on the board were very good too. A nice place to stop by and feast before or after the airport. Especially like the family style service and atmosphere.

I have eaten at Akagi’s many, many time’s and have never been disapointed. I always order the delux dinner meal with Beef, Chicked teriyaki with white rice and Deef fried veggies, Miso soup and salad and all for a great price. I always take friend’s visiting me to Akagi’s and reccommend it to all who read this.

I’ve been to quite a few Japanese restaurants and Akagi’s is one of the best I’ve been to. Service was quick and friendly and the food quality was excellent. Also very reasonable prices. Strongly recommend this place to anybody. Note: parking may be limited.

Stumbled across this place one evening and I’m an instant fan. The value you get for what you pay is just fantastic! It’s so cheap and the volume of food you get is awesome! Quality is a-okay, but the value you get for your money is top notch. The bento boxes are pretty good and the place wasn’t crowded(perhaps it’s the timing in the evening). Service was good and efficient, will be back again!

Been coming here for years and the food never disappoints. Yes, the prices rise steadily as all places do, but they still remain competitive and provide a great value for your money.

Came here for late night food on the way to the SFO. Amami sushi would’ve been my first choice but it was closed, and this was good enough to hit the spot. Three choice combo was $ 11 and had tons of food. Some of it too salty and some of the beef a little tough, but if you order right this place can deliver at a good price. Best part was our waiter. Dude loves his job and made the mediocre food experience enjoyable. I definitely recommend coming here if you’re on the way to the airport for a late night flight(and Amami isn’t open).

Akagi is known for their yummy bento boxes! They’re also cheap and very generous with their portions as compared to other Japanese restaurants. For two items, it’s $ 10 and for three it’s $ 11. A lot of other places charge around $ 15 – 17 and aren’t as good taste-wise and portion-wise. You get a lot for your money at Akagi. All bento boxes come with miso soup, salad, and rice. I usually get salmon teriyaki with either beef teriyaki or California rolls. It depends on how I’m feeling! The tempura is good too! The place is a little cramped though. The seats and tables are very close to each other, so if you don’t like the idea of that, you can always order to go. Sometimes there is a wait here, but I feel like time always go by quickly since people finish their food fast. They also serve other things, like sushi, but not many options. Like I said, they’re known for their bento boxes. Definitely give this place a try!

Volume eating is not my thing these days. In our younger days, when our youthful bods and good metabolism allowed, we could eat like there was no tomorrow! In my early working years, my softball friends introduced me to this South Bay dinner spot that fit the«bang for bucks» criteria before building up our savings to dine at those tasting menu places. Located just off San Bruno Avenue, its neighbors were the Sony service center and a Lyon’s for those late night airport employees post work dining. As we ripen in our … age, quality trumps quantity, especially after your annual physician checkup. My friend is very price sensitive for meals these days especially given the current rate of inflation of food costs. After a Costco shopping trip, my friend heard me mention a nearby cheap eats place so this was out Thursday lunch spot. Their menu is pretty extensive now but I remembered that their bento boxes were the best deals back then. After a quick study, my friend and I both ordered the California lunch bento box( ) for around $ 11.00; it comes with four pieces of shrimp tempura, three pieces of California roll, and a protein choice(teriyaki short ribs were my choice). The meal also comes with a bowl of miso soup and salad comprised mainly of iceberg lettuces. As remembered, the quality of the food is average at best, but the amount of food is overwhelming. I only ate two shrimps and a few of the vegetable tempura which, combined with my friend’s leftovers, made for almost another full meal. We also shared a soft shell crab tempura which again was large size wise, but the flavors were ‘meh’ at best. The dining room was about half full when we left a little past noon and several people came in to pick up their takeout orders. Will this make my meal rotation? Given my leanings these days for quality over quantity, not very likely. Fortunately, my meal wasn’t as bad as Cherylynn N.‘s( ) was!

It seems like a lot of people have come here back in the day. When I was in high school, this was the place to go because I could afford it. This is my mom’s favorite Japanese restaurant, because she loves the teriyaki sauce that they use on the beef. For me, I know there are plenty of other Japanese restaurants out there, ones that don’t write«resutoran» in hiragana, ones that don’t really require too much of a wait… but this place is childhood to me and that’s why I come here with my family. You get quite a lot of food for a good price. If you’re hungry and you want some hot food that is filling, Akagi is the place to go. I was surprised to note that the hamachi hand roll was also pretty good. The service is often quite nice, though everyone always looks really busy. Food comes out pretty quickly and as I mentioned, it’s tasty. Just not memorable. This will always be the spot I go to with my mom, though. Coming here brought back so many memories and it’s awesome to know that they’re still here and still going strong.

I’ve been coming here since I was little, and it’s always been a family favorite. The food is so cheap and you get so much, how could you say no?! I typically get a bento box with tempura, beef teriyaki, and sashimi. Although it’s not the best Japanese food ever, it’s still really good and you get a lot of food for your money. The sushi is also inexpensive, and is worth ordering with your bento box if you’re really hungry. It can be hard to find parking, however, we always seem to get lucky in those two parking lots across the street. There are times when the wait here can be really long, so try not to go during a busy hour. The staff here is really nice, too, which is a plus.

Okay for those who are expecting more let me tell you now this place is not good for sushi rolls but for BENTO boxes! They give you a lot of choices and quantity and quality is good for the price! You won’t find another place that offers 3 items for less than what they’re charging around this area! I love their shogun bentos-lots of items!

Great little spot away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Nothing super fancy about the place. It’s a little small inside but what I can bet on is that they serve some pretty great food. It was a little busy on Thursday so instead of waiting we decided to sit at the bar. This isn’t a bad option if it’s just one or two of you. In either case, try to sit to the far right side since the wait staff will be traveling back and forth picking up orders. They must have reached over me five or six times during my meal. We started off with the sashimi deluxe, a very delicious and superb choice. Everything tasted fresh. I think the picture I posted does more justice than the words in this review. I then ordered from their cooked list in a bento box. The salmon was tender and good, the spare ribs were juicy bursting with flavor, and silly me added a few more pieces of tuna sashimi. Again, nothing fancy about this spot. Expect simple décor, good food, and some reasonable prices.

Came here one evening for dinner. Had 3 rolls, salmon skin, lion king, and dragon roll. They were all very good. The salmon skin, however, tasted kind of funny. I don’t think they prepared it very well because I’ve had salmon skin rolls in other places and they were sooo good. The lion king roll was definitely good. Nice balance of flavors and it’s one of those rolls that you don’t really need to dip in soy sauce. Dragon roll always a delight to have anywhere you go. Tempura was nicely prepared; good fried and not soggy. Affordable prices, my 3 rolls came out to about $ 23? Service was great, ingredients are fresh. Only thing about this place is it’s small and very cramped. Will definitely come back for more sushi and maybe other dishes!
