Wizard of Paws is licensed, bonded and insured. We have been pet sitting since 2004.

If you need your dog walked once, twice or daily, we can do that. Multiple visits during the day, too.

Business Owner

Tevia grew up around animals. She has owned dogs, cats, bunnies, turtles, newts, a snake, and way too many hamsters. After graduating from SDSU, living in Europe and working in Corporate America, Tevia wanted to work with animals. Wizard of Paws was started with her and her sister in 2004. Tevia has been the sole owner since 2007. She loves being outside walking dogs and being a pet sitter.

THIS WOMAN LIES.
After my Unilocal review, she emailed us claiming that the mobile numbers she had on file for me and for my fiancé might have been outdated, thus we would not have received any updates. My fiancé has had the same number for the past seven years. While my number did change about a year ago, SHE HAS BEEN IN TOUCH WITH BOTH OF US VIA TEXT MESSAGE since then regarding payment and key drop-​offs. Seriously?! Why does this woman refuse to take responsibility for her negligence?!
She also waited until after my review to offer $ 34 off of our bill as compensation to fix our carpet. Who in San Diego can properly remove pet odors/​stains from carpet in two rooms for that low of a price?
As an aside, I do need to make a correction. We’ve used her services four times and the level of communication deteriorated each time:
1st time: We received an email update, no text message.
2nd time: No email. I received an update via text message and my fiancé received nothing.
3rd time: No email and no text message. Nothing but a note.
4th time: No email and no text message. Nothing but a note and dog poop everywhere.
Why did she stop communicating with us? From this, I can only speculate how little she cared about us as clients and I call into question how much she even cares about our pets… but oh, SHE DEFINITELY CARES ABOUT GETTING PAID.
And to address the previous review, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH OUR DOG that would cause her to go all over our home. Our veterinarian can vouch for that. She has no behavioral problems.
What this boils down to is a lack of communication and accountability. We do not want someone like that taking care of the ones we love.

Tevia is the best with animals, of all types! She can even take care of a lizard! She’s helpful and very responsible. That previous review didn’t have a good experience, but I think that might have been an anomaly (or something wrong with the pet). I trust her to take care of my 4 legged friends any day! I can’t recommend her enough! Wizard of Paws is the best!

I have been meaning to write this review forever, but life got busy. We have used Tevia for 2 years. We love her. She has stayed while we were on vacation and took excellent care of our 17 year old dog and 8 year old cat. They were well taken care of and they were happy!!! She has also done at home visits for our new puppy and again amazing. She has been amazing at last moment needs. I highly recommend Wizards of Paws.

Tevia has been caring for my (now 10 mos. old) Weimaraner puppy since he was 9 weeks old! She is amazing with him, and has not only helped me keep up with his increasing size and energy levels, but also reinforced training which has been invaluable as consistency is key. I’m a single dog mom with a job and she is almost always able to be flexible with her schedule when I have something unexpected come up. Most importantly I know that she really cares for my dog. She is very professional and I have no qualms about trusting her in my home and with my key as well as administering medicine when needed, even taking my dog to obedience class one time when I had to miss it! Thanks Wizard of Paws! :-)

Just got a new job. Woot, finally. After nine months on the dole, I was able to completely work off a 20-​year beer gut, get tan as HELL doing it, explore the meaning of life, and shit like that. But enough about me.…
I needed a dog walker, pronto, and Tevia here came through in the clutch. I started this new job immediately with no warning, I was really in a bind and she went out of her way to meet me when I’m sure she was starving and probably hadn’t eaten dinner yet. That alone would have earned her five stars under my OLD system. I’ve now created a new system in her honor. Tevia is now the first recipient of the SIX stars. That’s right. And she will be the ONLY one to claim it as long as she doesn’t kill my dog.
«I’ll leave the signed contract and the money under the leash in the morning. Here’s a spare key.» Done. Love her.
This new job simply won’t allow me to come home for lunch to let the old lady out. I’ll miss taking the lunch-​break bong rip (and, of course, waking up my deaf 14-​year-​old lab with kisses (definitely the favorite part of my day)), but you have to grow up sometime, amirite?

Tevia is Amazing ! and extremely Professional and kind… I have 2 Exotic cats one is a Huge Bengal Hybrid and he is a lightning fast escape artist and They get along Great ! and now i never have to worry about them when i have to go out of town During Horse Show week and I can Rest assured that my Cats are safe and well cared for and she plays with them and every time i have had her service when i come home the Cats are super chill and happy and not suffering from separation Anxiety like in the past… I sometimes wonder if they like her More then Me and thats saying allot cause they LOVE ME !! lol… I would Highly Recommend Her Service to anyone Knowing that My place and my animals are in very Caring Capable and professional Hands… and that helps me sleep at night when I am on the road. Yaaay Wizard of Paws !!

Tevia is absolutely amazing. She takes care of my lab, Madchen, whenever I’m in San Diego for business (which is quit often). I just let her know where I’m staying, leave a key for her at the front desk and all is taken care of. I think Madchen likes going down there more than I do now because of Tevia.

The Wizard of Paws… Isn’t Wizard a male connotator? Shouldn’t it be «Witch of Paws». Well, I can see why Tevia chose the other name. Even «Sorceress of Paws» just doesn’t have the right ring.
Kind and polite, Tevia is the consummate professional. She does what she says she’s going to do, and she does it when she says she is going to do it. She is businesslike without being cold. At the same time, she takes extra time getting to know shy animals and she always makes a friend of it quickly.
When I go on vacation I’ll have her come take care of things and know I can relax, enjoy my vacation and feel like things are secure at home. I think that’s the magic of Wizard of Paws.

there is NO ONE out there who will care for your pet better than tevia and wizard of paws. i was first referred to her by my vet about 5 years ago! and now she is my ‘go to’ gal for all pet-​sitting needs. i even went out of the country once — totally out of touch for 10 days — and she took care of my dog as if he were her own. i just recently adopted another puppy. she walks him everyday while i’m at work and sends me a text message report when she leaves. don’t think of using ANYONE else. i mean it! you won’t have a thing to worry about with wizard of paws.

My girlfriend and I needed someone to care for our two cats while we were on a 2 week vacation. We found Wizard of Paws on Unilocal– what an awesome service! Tevia came out to our house for a free consultation and took the time to really get to know our cats– which is admittedly a little tough, since those two are in the dictionary under ‘scared-​y cat’! She not only took care of our cats at a very reasonable price (cheaper than boarding!), but also took in our mail and watered our plants. What a great service! Would definitely recommend and use again!

Besides having the coolest business name I’ve ever come across, Tevia is hands-​down the most reliable and caring dog-​walker I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. During her first consultation she made a point of bonding with, and getting to know, my dog, as well as assessing his special needs and quirks. Highly reccommended. I originally found Tevia through her membership in the Ocean Beach Main Street Association. I was looking for someone in the neighborhood. She has been FANTASTIC.
I appreciate the friendly and responsible service provided by Wizard of Paws. Tevia runs a professional operation and we trust her 100% with our pets. We’ve been using her services for about two years now, primarly for mid-​day pet walks during the work day. She is great about leaving little notes if there is anything out of the ordinary with our pets. We’ve been so happy with her service we have recommended her to others. It is clear that Tevia really cares for the animals she walks and sits for.
