Sawhorse Design & Build

We’d like to add to the praises for Sawhorse Design & Build – an excellent team headed by Mitch Moore. We actually selected the Sawhorse team from the Unilocal reviews and we’re glad we did. We upgraded a 60 year old house on Mercer Island to code with new insulation, electrical, HVAC, lighting, etc. and modernized with Rob’s excellent design which included more windows providing more light. Wood floors were added to existing wood floors that match perfectly. The new kitchen and bathrooms are luxurious. Along the way we discovered some areas that needed reinforcement, such as subfloor, downspouts and drainage and they made the necessary repairs to those issues. The cosmetic improvements gave our old house a nice new look which we see and appreciate every day. Mitch communicates well and does what he says. We highly recommend the Sawhorse Design and Build team.

RE: Complete Basement Remodel
We are very happy with our choice to use Sawhorse on our West Seattle Mid Century Modern remodel for a variety of reasons and I’ll offer a few of them here. Mitch differentiated Sawhorse by really listening to our interests and proposing a range of realistic options for us. Several bids were compared and Sawhorse met to our requested budget and provided a detailed quotation with no hidden surprise change orders to come later. Regarding the interior design Mitch worked with us on finish materials (flooring, tile, lighting, plumbing fixtures, etc.) to achieve both our design and budget goals. Once the crew got started we were very happy with the cleanliness of the site (we lived in the house during the project) and the quality of their workmanship. The crew and subcontractors were all very tidy. Advice to the homeowner is Sawhorse moves through a project with efficiency so make your decisions before the crew starts and be available to answer questions as they go. The final product is a greatly improved space that integrates naturally with the architecture of the house and that we enjoy using every day.
Bottom line: Mitch is an honest guy and we would definitely use him again on our next project!

Mitch was recommended from a coworker for a remodel of our 1940’s home. He met with us until a blueprint was developed that took our ideas and turned them into a reality better than we had hoped. Mitch and his team applied creative engineering to turn the six rooms on the main floor into an open floor plan and created 3 bedrooms and 2 baths upstairs where there had been a stuffy attic. He was on time and held to the budget. That was four years ago. The house continues to live very well for us — we really couldn’t be happier.
Last summer he came back and rebuilt our deck and detached garage, again giving us a result that was better than we had imagined. The price he gives is well researched so there were no surprises. That made the process enjoyable.

Mitch and his crew were amazing! We recently completed a whole floor renovation that included adding 2 bedrooms, adding 2 bathrooms, a media room, a study room, and refinishing 2 other bedrooms. He has excellent design skills where he maximized every square footage of space. He is able to blend his designs into any preexisting esthetic. He was on schedule, unlike other contractors and easy to contact at any time of day. We are thoroughly pleased with our renovation and HIGHLY recommend him to anyone for any renovation!

I am disappointed because I spoke with Sawhorse design on the phone and made an appointment for the next day. He did not show up and did not call me until several days later to tell me that he cannot fit us into his schedule. My impression was that he was flaky. In my opinion he should have shown up when he said he would regardless if he could work on our project in the near future or not.
On the other hand, I am glad that I did not hire him because I would have truly disliked being disappointed while in the middle of a project!
He simply made a bad first impression, so I will neither request nor recommend Sawhorse Design to anyone.

Mitch Moore and his Sawhorse team renovated our kitchen and master bath earlier this year. We had a great experience. The spaces have been transformed. Our kitchen is beautiful and original, and our bathroom looks like a high end spa. Mitch has impeccable taste and attention to detail. The quality of the work is topnotch. His tile guy Jeff is a total wizard. All the people who work for him are highly skilled and really nice to work with. There is no sloppiness or cutting corners here. They were on time and on budget. We couldn’t be happier with Sawhorse and highly recommend them to anyone contemplating construction or a remodel. Our neighbors across the street used Sawhorse (which is how we found out about them) and they are very happy too.

We contracted Mitch Moore to remodel our kitchen and two bathrooms. The end result is beautiful. They managed to transform a dark kitchen into some place warm, bright and inviting. His crew worked fast and they were very respectful of our space. Friends and family all naturally gravitate to our kitchen now. It has become the heart of our home which is exactly what I wanted.

We recently completed a total basement renovation and master bath remodel with Mitch Moore of Sawhorse Design and Build. We interviewed four contractors and Mitch stood out for several reasons: he is a design and build firm, which spared us several thousand dollars in architect fees; he has great design sense, he offered a fixed bid with assurances that we’d stick to it (and he did); his schedule seemed ambitious but achievable whereas others were either ridiculously long or unrealistically aggressive.
In the end, we’re very, very happy we went with Mitch. We used to dread going into our basement and now it’s our primary relaxing space. Mitch and his carpenter Rob built us a great media room with fireplace, mantel, bookshelves and built in TV and speakers. This room really exceeded our expectations.
All of our friends told us to expect to go 20% over budget and at least that on the schedule and we’re very pleased neither was the case. Mitch did a great job of sticking to our budget; we only had some very minor additional charges to get previous repairs up to code and Mitch did lots of extras for us including mounting our TV and installing surround sound speakers in the ceiling. We were pretty demanding customers and Mitch and Rob worked hard to make sure we were happy with the result.
